We couldn't afford that, so they told us we could either put her down, or they do the surgery anyways, but give our cat another family. If you are going to do surgery anyways? Ease of getting an appointment even though vet was extremely busy. Several vets had offered next week's appointment and my greyhound's paw couldn't wait any longer. My husband and I who are nearing retirement decided we wanted to have another dog in our lives and chose to adopt an older pet to see them through the end. We found our Roscoe (Rat Terrier) at the Humane Society at age 13 years. He had a nervous tick and tremors when we first adopted him. Dr. Lance and Dr. Bozja both treated Roscoe with such care to help calm his neurological issues with both clinical and holistic care. He led a wonderful very spoiled life for 4 years. He developed Dementia and Seizures. Again, everyone at Lance Hospital was always there for our Little Man. Recently a bad seizure required us to make one of the hardest decision of our lives. Dr. Lance helped Roscoe "Fly over the rainbow". I have had this exsperience 3 times previously, but never like the exsperience with Dr. Lance and Ms. Bergen. I brought my pup in for a second opinion (from Atlanta) to Lance because I had experience with Dr Marie with my other cavalier through my breeder and thought she would be the most knowledgeable due to my breed. It was a very scary situation for me as my pup came in very sick, but off the bat THE ENTIRE STAFF that I dealt with treated me and my pup with nothing but care and compassion. Dr Lance took plenty of time to go through everything with me from her history to the breakdown of her lab work. She gave me treatment options and broke those down as well. Not once did I feel uneasy about leaving my pup in her care and she updated me daily, if not, multiple times. I even had a night tech call me to give me an update (my pup basically had everyone trained) as well which only confirmed my decision in leaving my dog in their care knowing she was in good hands. I hands down recommend Lance even for people who don't live in close proximity because if you're anything like me, it is worth the extra miles to have peace of mind. read more

We were referred to Lance by our Dachshund rescue group in 2016. First few years went well--doctors took time for questions during visits, most of the front desk generally pleasant, techs were always polite and good with our dogs, and a good experience when we had to make the difficult decision to euthanize our furry family member. As the years went on, visits became more rushed, couldn't get in to see the doctor we started with, one particular front desk worker was incredibly short and condescending regularly (not just a bad day), and even after most vets returned to pre-Covid practices, allowing you to come in with your animal for their visit, they are still doing only curbside as of 4/2022. The two final straws that resulted in us leaving the practice involved the practice being so rigid and not considering the patient's health first. Both involved medicine refills--one compounded eye drops required for our Boston Terrier whose had two major/expensive eye surgeries and the other Proin for that same rescue dog's incontinence. In both cases we were almost out and didn't realize refills required a follow-up visit and bloodwork, respectively. They did call in one refill for critical eye drops, but even after sending them all requested ophthalmology surgery records from vet school hospital that performed surgeries, we are still waiting on the full annual refill approval since 1/22/2022. And the final straw was their refusal to give the Boston 7-days of Proin to get her through our spring break vacation out of the country. She was due bloodwork that we didn't know about until we went to pick up her meds ~2 days before leaving. The bottle showed no remaining refill info. We shared our predicament with our son's senior cruise and our own challenges with making an appointment due to mandatory Covid testing windows, work challenges, and driving time to port. They refused my husband. I called and asked them again. They still refused, siting FDA requirements. As a human, we've had more supportive healthcare providers for refills of maintenance meds and schedule 2 drugs with challenging and unique circumstances. This meant our Boston had no meds and went a full week without, coming home to our Boston who had overnight wet crate beds daily and our pet sitter who had many floor cleanups. All of which weren't necessary. We pleaded for only 7-days, not a full bottle, offering to go ahead and schedule an appointment for our first day back--still they said no. That was the final straw, along with the continued negative attitude of one particular front desk worker who has no concept of customer service and acts as if the practice is doing you a favor by existing. read more

I began bringing my pets here in December after adopting a kitten with some chronic sinus issues. I couldn't ask for a more professional and caring staff! The staff managed to get Lucius, the very congested kitten to a point where his sinus issues could be managed at home. Today, I had an emergency situation with my second cat, Severus (yes there's obviously a theme here). I called and told me to come on down they would work me in as quickly as possible. Within 10 minutes of walking in the door Severus was being seen. With some supportive care and rest he'll be fine. I love this office seems to offer an amazing balance between traditional veterinary care and natural solutions while keeping your bank account in mind. They are reasonable and more than willing to work out a solution for your pet without breaking the bank. read more

I wanted to take a moment and share my experience with this practice. My dog came for her appointment today and nearly lept into Docor Davrin's arms. I think she knows he makes her feel better. My dog has a back injury. I love the intergrative approach they take to healthcare. Both Dr. Lance and Davrin are amazing. Thanks to their treatment plan my dog is back to her frisky happy self. We have been bringing our multitude of pets to LAH for quite a while now (a few years at least). It took us a while to find a vet that we trusted when we moved down here. We went to a few offices before a friend recommended that we check out a newer vet clinic in the area that he was working at as a tech. So we checked it out and really clicked with Dr. Marie. She is thorough and easy to work with. We tend to be demanding and perhaps overbearing pet parents and they actually appreciate our questions and concerns. I love that they offer multiple holistic treatments along with traditional vet care. We have used just about all of the services that they offer for various pets in our household (cold laser, chiropractics, herbal treatmets, etc) and are pleased with the results. They are not the cheapest vet in the area but I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". read more

This place is now a joke! We knew and have been a client for many years. Now, they are a rip off. We scheduled a grooming for our cat a week ago and they wait until 3 days prior to tell us they are adding additional charges! They want to do an exam $50 plus blood work another $125+ and then the grooming which was going to be $200 including sedation. Tanya didn't believe me when I told her i had the rabies shot and i had the paperwork! She got very hostile with me when I told her that was ridiculous and said that was my problem! Just went to her the other week for our dog, the lab work was to be sent to UGA for more$$ and of course, never heard from them either, sure she pocketed the money.. Will never go back there and would recommend anyone considering or taking their pets their currently, think twice unless you want to donate to their pocket book. read more

I have been having my dog groomed at Lance for a long time. Today, they called to cancel my appointment telling me the groomer was going on a leave of absence and they didn't know how long. WELL, i have friends that are friends with the groomer and they checked on her to see if everything was ok. GUESS WHAT - she had no clue anything was going on and that likely now i realized she was going to get let go and now so does she. Good Service - but somewhat deceptive - we took our 2 cats in for their yearly exam - which was quoted over the phone at $58 each - by the time they were finished - the total bill for both cats was $406 - and both of these cats were healthy. Apparently the $58 is a charge for the office visit and everything else is additional. We were told our 10 year old male cat needed a "spinal adjustment" - again - no mention of charge until the bill - learn from our mistakes - make sure you ask "what is the charge for that procedure"; "are you giving me the food or is there a charge for that" They do have a really nice facility and the staff is friendly but make sure you have plenty of credit on your credit card. read more

Beware! Truly terrible medical services. I took my ill, 19 year old cat to them for a possible UTI and a full senior panel work-up. My cat was seen by Dr. Rachel Yates. Dr. Yates should go back to medical school because she was incompetent. She claimed she was unable to take any blood or urine samples because my cat was too scary. My cat has been to the vet many times during her lifetime and No One has ever been unable to gather samples before. Dr. Yates proceeded to say that she thinks my cat has feline renal issues, and sold me a bunch of fancy food. 3 weeks later my cat was no better. I took her to another vet who was able to obtain samples. It turns out my cat does NOT have renal issues, or diabetes but by now had a raging UTI. The worst part was the suffering my cat endured. DON'T TRUST THIS VET!!! read more

We were clients of Dr. Marie's before she "made it"....she was very caring and personable and truly care about the animals; however, now that she has "made it", her concern is money and only the almighty dollar. She has worked with us and others in allowing clients to post date checks; however, that is no longer the case. Our cat has an urgent issue, his head is cocked to the right side and his eye is swollen shut. Due to our medical need at the same time, we asked for a 2 week post date (as opposed to our normal 1 month)....oh no!!!! How dare we ask that! She tried to force us to get a Care Credit charge card - we don't do credit cards. Her staff is unbelievable! I had to call 4 times before anyone would even speak to me. I spoke to Rebekkah and Heather. Rebekkah was too lazy to take a message, so I had to call back. I even left a message for the office administrator, but of course, no answer. AFter 3 days, Dr. Marie finally called back - very hatefully, there is no telling what Rebekkah told her, cause at first Rebekkah would not even have her call me, so I was quite shocked when she did. I am very saddened that she has turned this way. They will also try to gouge you with every test known to man kind. When I asked her what the treatment would be without the test, she said "the same"....and I said if we did the test? again, the same! I cut one bill from a possible $600 to only $200 (which we post dated for 1 month!) Be careful when going there or you will be in debt with unnecessary tests and surprise charges. We will, unfortunately, be taking our 5 dogs, and 4 cats to another vet. read more

Wow, the only other rating for this vet is from John B. John was actually pretty nice about his review. I highly recommend that folks stay away from this vet. Instead of stating such and signing off, I will give you our family's reasons for stating such a negative opinion. Our family's reasons for no longer going to this vet are as follows: 1) This vet (Dr. Lance) is not the friendliest. She's not mean or rude, but she's not openly friendly either. There's hardly a smile, and its business the whole way. Is she knowledgeable? Yes, she appears to know her trade quite well. But personally, we prefer someone who actually likes to see our pets. 2) There is no doubt in our minds WHATSOEVER that this vet is a cash cow milking us for money on procedures that are many, many times unnecessary. EVERY SINGLE TIME we go into her office, she lays more necessary expenses on us. As John B.'s review stated, she ALWAYS recommends "spinal adjustments" on your dogs. She pushes real, real hard on the doggie and cat vaccinations too. You can remind her staff that you already had such-and-such shot 6 or 8 mos ago, but they will recommend you do it early anyway, which means more fees onto your bill. On top of that, we were told some time back that if we wanted to put our dogs in their kennel, that they had to have a FLU vaccination. What?! Yet another expense. I finally lost my patience at that point and asked the receptionist why, every time I call, I am told I need something new. She simply explained that that is what Dr. Lance now requires. Talk about needless vaccinations! Folks, I hope you know that the only true vaccinations your dogs really truly need are rabies and maybe check for fecal worms (if they are outside dogs). I feel that this office is the best at spreading fear to their customers. The try and scare you about this disease, that disease, or whatever illness they chose for the day so that they can convince you to pay for new treatments or unnecessary medications or tests. By the way, I found out just recently that my next door neighbor has been to Dr. Lance as well and neighbor was very candid about how this vet tried to convince her to perform many expensive procedures and tests on her two small sized, OLDER DOGS. Neighbor was smart and went to another local vet for a second opinion and he told her that those procedures were not necessary for her older dogs. Apparently this issue happened about a year ago, according to my neighbor. To date her dogs are perfectly healthy with no emergencies in their health. Look folks, am just being honest here. You wanna pay alotta money for something you may not need? Then fine, go to this vet clinic. However, if you just want basic, good care for your cats/dogs, then I would recommend going somewhere else. One positive thing I can say about this clinic is that their pet groomer is AWESOME. Our three large breed dogs had the best grooming ever at this vet clinic. They smelled awesome and were so fluffy, so the groomings were worth every penny. Grooming, YES. Animal care, NO. read more

I have been taking my 2 dogs & cat to Lance for multiple years now because it has always been in a great location close to my. . My last visit is when I decided to finally throw in the towel with them. They charged me double office visits for my 2 small dogs that went in at the same time in the same room, but then proceeded to run multiple tests, the total of this visit cost over $460, all to recommend after all said & done, a $30 bottle of shampoo. Now they want me to come back in to recharge me double office visits for 2 small dogs going in at the same time, taking up only 1 room, & have told me they want to run more tests when the problem originally they explained was bacterial. However now they need me to come back in the run the same tests to verify it's the same problem before just giving them antibiotics. Throughout past visits they are quick to assess the problem & get us in & out but never really listen when I'm trying to describe symptoms. Which is probably why my poor dogs still have the same condition going on 3 months now bc they rushed to diagnose it wrong. We are now currently trying Gainesville Vet. Very unhappy with Lance, they are money oriented only, & do not have the pets best interest & well being at heart. My poor pups have been miserable for months. read more
