With South Carolina being new to tattoos as a state, it is incredible to have the talented artists at Charleston Tattoo Co. available to bring the knowledge, taste, and professionalism that the state has so desperately needed in its' shops. I have received two tattoos on two different occasions from artist, Travis Costello, and I could not be more pleased. Both are extremely well done in the style of American Traditional tattooing. Upon reading a very childish Yelp review that was posted directly regarding Travis' talent and experience, I felt led to share my opinion in hopes to leave an authentic and factual review of Travis and the shop's work. If you're looking for the real deal in S.C. Tattoos - You find it here at Charleston Tattoo Co. I am very fortunate to have been tattooed at multiple shops in Charleston, SC including: Blue Gorilla, Peppershade Tattoo, and Neon Needle.. and I can say without doubt or question that my best work was done at Charleston Tattoo Co. I have had 5 of my 9 tattoos done at Charleston Tattoo Company on Folly Road. Both Travis and Aaron have provided me with beautiful works of art that far exceeded my expectations; EVERY TIME. I am proud to display their talent and am more then happy to talk with strangers about my tattoos. I am always asked where they were done and by whom. Both of the guys have always treated me with respect, kindness, and displayed exemplary ethics. The shop is beyond immaculate, bright, welcoming, easy to get in and out of, and any time of day there has always been plenty of parking. There are many talented artists in the area, for me my favorite is Charleston Tattoo Company. I live just a couple of miles away and they have CONSISTENTLY proven themselves to me. I have sent friends to these guys who have all expressed positive experiences. My only regret, I'm not rich I can't go every other week, but my coin tattoo piggy bank is just about full and I will be headed back soon. read more

Travis and the Charleston Tattoo Company staff is one of the best tattoo shops I have ever been to by far! I first went in several months ago and I just gave Travis a brief detail of what I wanted, which was an Indian Princess, and a couple days later I went in and I fell in love with the design that he came up with. It came out so wonderfully and so detailed. I loved his work so much that I went back and I got an Eagle with a Snake in its talons. Travis (along with the staff) are very very talented and highly professional individuals. I would highly recommend going there for your tattoo needs. read more

I stopped by Charleston Tattoo Company and I checked out Justin's portfolio and I found that I genuinely enjoy his work. We scheduled. He showed up on time, completely prepared, he was quick and clean. Quality of the tattoo was mediocre and over double what it should have costed. Also gave me terrible advice for healing process. I was nothing but nice and quiet the whole time but honestly since talking to other people and realizing that I got scammed, i downloaded yelp just for this review. 0/10, don't get scammed. I'm sure some of the artists are capable but mine was cheap and stole my money. $1200 for 3 hours of work (with tip) that could have easily been $500.

I went to another shop first that was booked up and they suggested Upper Hand Tattoo because Saturday is their walkins only day. We drove over around 4pm and waited about a half hour. They had I believe three artists working through the customers. Within the Russian tattoo artist roulette I was up next when Bob was available. I'd been admiring some of his US Navy themed tattoo sketches all along the walls so j was happy to get him! He looked over my idea and suggested a slightly different approach because we knew my idea wouldn't fit properly in the location I'd chosen. After some tweaking he came back to me with a new idea that I loved even more. Minutes later he had me paying the front desk girl (cash only friends) and I was ready. Pricing was reasonable too, exactly what I was expecting it to be. Once at his station he carefully laid out his tools and unwrapped the needles from their protective sealed wrappers right in front my eyes. Everything was very professional and he was also cool to talk to. He was really quick which I appreciated since it was on the inside of my wrist (ouch!) yet he was not too quick to make mistakes. I wish I remembered the name of the girl answering phones and running the front of the shop. So nice! She took our number and called an artist to see if he could take care of us. An immediate call back and she booked us for that afternoon. Just as friendly when we showed up and the shop looked and smelled clean. We had to wash our hands when we entered and they took Covid precautions every step of the way. Will did our tattoos and he couldn't have been more polite and professional.
