I loved the signs in the parking lot that read "no dam parking!" My sweetie ordered the smoked cheeseburger which was outstanding. It was a full 1/2# of beef that was smoked and served on a toasted bun with burger fixin's. Amazing! I ordered the sausage plate. The sausage was so good! Smoky, spicy, but not greasy. I liked the potato salad because it was chunky with great flavor. However, the brisket beans were FIRE!!! In CA, we would say they are charro-style with onions, chiles, and meat. The beans were perfectly cooked. The pot liquor and beans were so well flavored by the brisket. I'm not a sweet pepper fan, but the red pepper was not overpowering and gave a pop of color. Honestly, if I'd known the beans were that good, I would have just ordered a quart of beans to eat. They were that good! The folks who cook and run the truck were so friendly and happy to share their story and their food with us. Don't be disappointed! Get there early before they sell out of what you have your heart set on! At 4:00 on a Saturday, there was no brisket left, but the sausage and, I'm sure, the ribs are delicious! If I lived within a couple of hours, this would be a monthly treat!

They were out of brisket but we were able to get the sausage and spare ribs, along with the Mac and cheese and the beans. The meat and beans were good. The Mac and cheese appeared to be cheese sauce from a van over noodles. I did not like them and would love to see them improve on that unless you like canned cheese sauce. As this OSS a food truck outside was que and the weather was fantastic when we were there. I rate all BBQ joints on meat and Mac and cheese which is why I only have 3 stars.

The Boat is a bar/restaurant decorated like you just walked in off the beach in Port A. There's tons of beachy island knick knacks on the walls, surf boards, life preservers, fishing pics, game fish mounts, etc. When you walk in the first thing you'll see is a half circle, some would say boat shaped, bar with plenty of regulars posted up keeping their drinks company. Beyond the bar there's plenty of indoor and back patio seating options, and if the weather is any sort of good I'd suggest grabbing something outside so you can take in the river view. If you're here for a beer or drink, they have a healthy selection to pick from. Beyond the regular domestic beers and mixed drinks, they feature a specialty cocktail menu of beachy libations like painkillers, Blue Mermaids, Dosaritas, pineapple rum punch, and a few others. The menu is large and offers all the fried seafood you could think of, as well as burgers, steaks, sandwiches, po-boys, and other non ocean fare. We settled on a dozen gulf oysters to start and I had one of their burgers while my wife ordered one of their salads. Everything was great! It's a beach bar stuck in the hill country, so if you're expecting fine dining this is not the place for you, but if you're craving a fried shrimp basket, po-boy, or greasy burger, you'll be fine. Service was very friendly and quick. Our waitress chatted us up on where we were from, what we should make sure to see and do while in town, and overall she did a great job making us feel welcome. Long review short, if you're looking for laid back beach vibes, there probably won't be many other choices in Kerrville than The Boat.

Fish and chips were delicious but I was told burger seemed like a frozen patty that didn't get warmed up enough.
