I've had a few cheesesteaks during my time. Geno's. Pat's. Any number of random places scattered across the country. And the one universal quality - outside of seasoning, flavor, cheese, etc - is that you get some goddamn steak. You leave feeling satisfied. You don't leave feeling cheated. Well, not here. I had the misfortune of ordering my "cheesesteak" online so I couldn't light into whichever poor bastard was putting together this culinary abortion. I've seen Charley's in mall food courts many times, but never tried them until now. The reviews on this place suggest I made a bad idea. I beg to differ. The staff was pleasant as I ordered the Old School. I didn't even know what I really getting myself into, but it had meat, onions, and cheese whiz sauce. That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge. As my order was finishing up on the grill, the grill dude told me I was in for a treat. He says he puts bacon on his, but since I had already ordered I thanked him for the suggestion and took mine away sans bacon. OK. I must admit I have never had a good philly cheesesteak. I've also never been to Philly. Fresh Prince was there, but his mom got scared and he had to move in with his uncle and aunt in Bel Air. In any case, I thought it was tasty. It also really coats your mouth with cheese sauce, so make sure you've got yourself a soda or something to wash it down. Good thing, I ordered a lemonade which did the trick. Lastly, while I enjoyed it... I don't think my tummy did. Maybe I wasn't built for all that cheese sauce. read more

I arrived a little before they open. one of the employees said we will be with you in a few minutes. So I had chosen this place over Cali Burger was a big mistake. So 11:00 AM is the time they should open but at 11:05 they are waiving customers off. I walk up and ask what the hey? were allowed to open late if were working on catering. I am speechless mall food is already a bad choice no matter who and what it is. Either the employee has no customer service skills or they just don't care. Philly Cheesesteaks have been one of my favorites since an East Coast friend turned me on to them a few years ago. I've now eaten A LOT of them in California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and now Washington. Without a doubt this was the GOAT, greatest of all time! Lots of steak, cheese, peppers and the jalapeños I added. The bacon cheese fries were fantastic and I even treated myself to a rich, creamy chocolate milkshake. Can't complain about a fairly quick lunch at the mall food court. The 5.99 chicken cheesesteak and fries special is 50 cents less than the straight up sandwich. Fries were perfectly done, crispy with just a touch of salt. The jalapeño cheesesteak was also good. Loved the fresh roll on each. I've been eyeballing Charley's for a while now. Always liked cheesesteaks. Hard to find the real kind. Felt intrigued enough to try it out tonight, and wasn't disappointed. Was it the worst I've have? Far from it. Was it the best? No, but the best I had was an old place in Bellingham where the cook/owner was actually from Philly and made his sandwiches EXACTLY how you'd get them there. He even imported Tasty Cakes for you East Coasters.. Anyhow, I got the Jalapeño cheesesteak. I'd call it mildly spicy, and personally, I would have wanted more heat, but the sandwich was presented nicely, I got it loaded with lettuce, pickle, onion and tomato, and all in all, it hit the spot. Adequate meat and cheese. Descent size "regular" sandwich. Incidentally, the fries here are AMAZING. They have a seasoning salt at the counter, although with fry sauce (ketchup/mayo mix) and ketchup. I've been craving a cheesesteak bad so the other night at alderwood mall I found them by chance in the food court. Very quick and efficient ordering with good customer service. I had a traditional cheesesteak and it was good. A lot of meat I didn't feel cheated. However I wish there were more vegetables on it. The bread was soft and tasty. I had my kiddos with me and they had just eaten so they all got a lemonade. Blueberry, strawberry, and peach. They are made with chunks of fruit in them and really good! Definitely a highlight. Who doesn't love fruit in their lemonade! Overall a great place to stop if you're in the mall and hungry! read more

I have been a patron of Charleys Philly Steaks (Location: 3000 184th St SW, #832, Lynwood, WA 98037-Alderwood Mall) for many years. I was extremely disappointed to go there today and be told that this location no longer has the "special sauce," that was always readily available for customers to fill little white cups for their fries and sandwiches. I was told that they no longer will have any special sauce in the future. They only now provide ketchup. As usual, I ordered a 6 inch veggie sandwich combo meal. The fries were undercooked as they were taken out of the fryer too soon. The fries were disgusting. Hopefully, corporate management will see this review--as I am encouraging corporate management to oversee the problems at the Alderwood Mall location because this establishment is always out of bags, trays etc. as well and appears to suffer from severe mismanagement. read more

Horrible. I am giving it one star because cause the # 1 sandwich is pretty good. The problem is that is super small like a kid's meal. When I ordered I wanted to order maybe the combo or so on, but the girl did not allow me to tell her or to even ask for a drink. She just said immediately the total. I bought a cheesesteak and ultimate bacon fries combo meal. The fries were undercooked and bland. Literally all I tasted was salt. It was a mushy, disgusting mess. The cheesesteak wasn't much better. I bought a large expecting it to come on a tall roll but it came on the same roll as the "normal", though they did pack it with meat but not nearly enough to justify the extra 4 dollar price. The biggest problem is that the sandwich was DRY. No sauce(or at least I didn't really taste any), not enough cheese, and half of the sandwich was lettuce! Never ordering from here again. read more

I ordered via Door Dash, so I'm not going to hold the fact that the food was completely cold too much against the restaurant. However, if these are large cheesesteaks, I'd hate to see a small! Also, the orders were completely wrong, missing the extra mushrooms and produce ordered, which is too bad, since these sandwiches need all the help they can get. The bread was decent, but the rest of the sandwich was a hard pass.
