Not sure what's happened. Drove up to get a thick chocolate shake and it's not the same. The shake tastes like something you get from McDonald's. It doesn't have the same texture and it's way more chocolaty, and not in a good way. Why do things have to change? Won't be making that drive again. read more

This COOL Local & Hot Spot of Almont is Well-Known to Residents for their food cravings or sweet treats! I was totally impressed by the smiling faces and speed inside at the order window and observed the busy Drive=Thru wrapped around the property on a Thursday night at 6:30 PM. This local owned business by the Dedvukaj Family makes every order "Hand and Made To Order" when it comes to menu food items! Every Tuesday and Thursday they sell Homemade Tacos! :-) Next time I'll eat here before Jimmie's baseball game ! There's picnic tables off to the side that we sat to enjoy or ice-cream cones. My great nephew needed to use the Port-a-Potty on the property and it was clean and supplied with hand gel sanitizier. I grabbed a FREE Menu to go and have attached the many pages of it with reasonable prices on all hot or cold food items, drinks and their famous soft serve ice-cream along with hand scooped Hershey's Ice-Cream. We went inside and took the chicken quesadilla, almond salad & a burger to go. Also a banana shake! Shake and quesadilla were 8.5/10. Burger was 8.5/10. Salad was 7.5/10. Lots of meat, barely any cheese but the size is huge. Must go back to try the ice cream! read more

Very good food and ice cream. Very good and polite service. Always ask if you need napkins with ice cream and ask if you need any other condiments with food, etc. I see some reviews on here about waiting and no chucks in a flurry... the waits are maybe because the food is made fresh. Every bit of food you get will be hot when you receive it. None of it will be cold (other than ice cream....) the chunks in flurries are because when flurries are made they have to run it through a mixer. read more

A staple in the community. I will still go here, but it's not as good as when the previous owners had it. The Taco Tuesday, tacos were fantastic and everyone loved them. I'll never understand the reason they got rid of them, no matter what they say. So many ppl drove out of their way to eat them. Doesn't make sense. They used to have good ice cream with lots of chunks without having to ask for them in their mixers. Last time I went the mixer I got was Oreo brownie. It had only a few chunks of brownie and the Oreo was completely blended like a milkshake with the ice cream. Today I went and asked for extra Oreo and extra brownie. As soon as I got the mixer there were ZERO CHUNKS. No bits of brownie or Oreo I searched and searched all but one minuscule brownie chunk was in it. Oreo was obliterated into the ice cream. Not going back here after this experience. You pay extra for the extra toppings and when there is none that is just pitiful. You get a flurry mixer for a reason to have chunks in it. read more

Didn't feel like cooking dinner after a long days work. Decided to try CBs for dinner and I was very happy. My family got the DBL Cheeseburgers and they were fresh and HUGE! The French fries were very good and the shakes were yummy. I decided to get the Chicken Greek Salad and it was also very good and so large that I have lunch for tomorrow. Delicious ice cream. The Hershey hand dip ice cream was perfection for each flavor we tried. The choc soft serve was rich & creamy. The tacos have a unique crisp dough fry bread shell filled w spicy ground beef, melted cheese, & lettuce, and come w mild red sauce in the side. They were pretty good and went down easy enough but not sure they would draw me back. They are popular, though... people were getting them by the sackful. The overall vibe is a hometown shop with traditional offerings like when I was growing up, and some fun new things too. High school school age students were behind the counter and provided speedy and friendly service. I loved seeing how this shop supports all the youth sports teams. The dining room has two high top tables, and there is a drive through. I can totally see us stopping here again!! read more

I drove 45 minutes to take my daughter to have some tacos, only to find, not only do you not serve tacos anymore (an institution in Almont for decades), but the reason given was "because people complained". Things have changed....and not in a good way. Ordered two small peach pie flurries which had little to no peaches or Graham crackers. I received vanilla ice cream with whipped cream. My kids used to order freezies but....not any more. I can only guess that the owner is using a new product that are all color and little flavor. But the last time I went was too much. A car in front of me ordered a large shake(?) which they received quickly. We waited an additional five to six minutes for the next and final item which was a flat sandwich(?) in a small flat bag. One item. I get it that food takes longer but how about moving forward? I knew my ice cream was going to be melted and it was. No apologies, no let me make it again, nothing. The tacos were pretty good. As always, that's pretty much. The only reason I come here. Me and my brother used to come here as a kid. My family has been going there even when we came back to the state for the vacations it was a destination. So yeah, the food taste really good. The service this time around though was absolutely lousy. The girl was snarky with me and seem to have a attitude. Clearly somebody who has no business around customers. I felt like asking her what I was giving her a tip for? Because I was paying for the food already. And then when I ask for a refill, the girl looks in the cup, and I looked in the cup before I gave it to her, and it was almost full of ice. Then she tries to fill it all the way up with ice. Had to bump this up, Almont represent!! Charlie Brown's is a unique ice cream shoppe that's been around forever. From tasty unique creamy treats, to mouth-puckering slushies, crunchy curly fries and satisfying melty sammiches. If you've been here before, you know the best things to order. You really can't go wrong with pretty much anything. Here are some of my go-to favorites: Bosco Sticks: You've had these cheese-stuffed breadsticks before probably, but nothing beats the way Charlie's makes them. Crunchy hot on the outside, cheesy on the inside. Get ranch and marinara and mix 'em up! The Big Five: A delicious melty meat and cheese combo on a chewy sesame seed bun. It's like the best ham/bologna & cheese you'll ever have. I get extra cheeseeee b/c why tf not? Curly Fries: A tasty crunchy salty snack. Some like 'em with cheese. If you're a fan of Arby's fries, you will love these. Tues/Thurs Tacos!! I love these tacos so much. I'm bummed I'm never around during the week to get them since I live in the city now, but they are fresh ground beef in a crunchy fried taco shell with melty chedder and lettuce shreds. No sour cream needed. (Tho available on request). The homemade hot sauce is Da Bomb .com, get extra - you'll need it. Other good choices: the Hambo (ham & swiss on a sub bun) Super Bagel (salami & cream cheese warmed on a bagel) and the Godfather (think soft & chewy italian sub). The soups in the winter are good too. (Especially the cheese soup! Can you see a pattern here? Lol!) Also, slushies are awesome! Every flavor you can think of. Blue raspberry is a family fav, but try mixing 2 flavors like Strawberry & Lemon or Watermelon & Raspberry. Sweet and sour! As for ice cream - the sky's the limit! Soft serve, flurries, sundaes, unique rotating hardscoop flavors, frozen chocolate bananas, and more. I love the Upside Down Banana Split (a layered sundae in a cup!), Dirt Sundae (complete with gummy worm), the classic chocolate-dipped cone with sprinkles, or any combo of flurry ingredients you can imagine. I love this place, I make sure to visit every time I'm in the area. Growing up it was a treasure, and it still is to this day! And to the guy who "supposedly" got food poisoning? It sucks 1 crappy review can drag a place like this down that's basically an institution in our tiny town. Not even any detail on what he ate, if it was even good, if it could have been anything else he ate that day?? Taco Tues/Thurs are the best..be patient on these days because stay busy.. the tacos are made fresh in this small town and everyone agrees.. you can't go wrong stopping for something to eat or enjoy their ice cream and everything they make with it (ex. banana splits.. sunday's.. cones.. floates) not to mention they're slushies.. I didn't want to leave this review and I first sent a private message. But no response seems there is no concern and that makes me concerned about other food safety handling practices. More than once we have stopped to get an ice cream cone and they have been handed to us bare handed. No napkin (none at all without asking), no paper on the cone, just their fingers on the cone that we are to eat. What really is not okay is the same person handling everyone's money and credit cards is the one then grabbing the cone bare handed to give it to you. That is beyond not sanitary and not following food handling safety. We already stopped getting food there because of quality going way down. The wait times have gone way up but we try to be understanding with things like that. But now food safety seems to be lacked. This has happened over many weeks so owners/managers must be seeing it and not caring. No response from private feedback supports this. All has us wondering what else is going on that can't be seen. A local family that won't be returning at least until it is known food safety is in place and cared about. read more

Great ice cream stop while driving through Almont. It's hard to drive by without stopping, as this old school shop beckons you in! The prices are great for ice cream and they also offer various other food menu items. Parking is usually plentiful in the lot; unless, you go during the peak summer season. In that case, the lot is often full and the drive through line is long. But that only speaks to how tasty their sweet treats are. As for wait times in these situations, the drive through lines usually moves along at a good pace. I've never went inside the shop, only ordered through the drive through (Yay for drive through ice cream!), so unfortunately no feedback on that portion of the shop. The staff is always polite and efficient. I am especially a fan of their seasonal pumpkin shakes!
