The place facility was clean. Well lit smelled great. The layout of the displays were aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I was greeted with a smile and welcomed right as I entered. The bathroom was clean tidy. The soap, toilet paper and hand paper towels filled. I really enjoyed the alcohol selection of both beer and wine. What I was most shocked about was judging them from the parking lot. So happy I went in and am writing this review. If you get a chance to stop for gas, snack and alcohol please do.

So on our way back, in this pandemic, I needed an out of the way gas station and found it at M55 on the West end of Cadillac: Thirsty's! I rushed in the door doing the pee per dance but I was overwhelmed by the smell of ice cream and waffle cones. I asked where the commode was and what ice cream they carried (Ashby's, Hudsonville?) and the man answered "Homemade!" I'm like homemade? After relieving myself in the clean bathroom, I sauntered toward the parlor area and WOW! So many flavors.....basics like chocolate and vanilla bean, butter pecan, but some interesting ones like Kat Nip, which is a malt flavored ice cream with bits of Kit Kat bars in it, Creme Brûlée which is my absolute favorite, and much more! The waffle cones are their own recipe and they curl up the ends so the cone won't dribble too early. The service was EPIC, the social distancing and mask wearing was spot on and I truly feel like this experience is what has been missing from my life for the past 56 years. I'm sold and will make the effort to drive the extra couple of miles here from downtown Cadillac when I go shopping. Can't recommend this enough! Oh, and they sell quarts of the ice cream to take home too!

If made fresh there isn't much better than the chicken tenders so I looked in the warmer and there was 3- dry looking tenders but I noticed that they were dropping fresh something in the oil so I asked the young man working the register what it was hoping it was tenders and the grumpy old lady working the fryer said super rudely CHICKEN! Like I was just some stupid guy the man working the register then looks me in the eye and says she is the rudest person he ever met I mean this is his coworker!!!!!! So I said I could wait for the fresh chicken tenders he looks at me again says good luck I'm clocking out so I waited 6 min and then the lady grabbed the 3- old tenders chucking them in a box mean as hell I then said I just waited for fresh so she threw the tenders back in the warmer and said THOSE Were NOT OLD!!!!!! They do the job punching the buttons and collecting the payment, but that's where it ends. Understanding that, the store itself is massive. Several coffee options, frozen drinks, coolers full of many different brands and flavours. Shelves of most anything you could possibly need. But the biggest attraction: Chester's Chicken. Chester's is hot chicken prepared on site, offered in combination or ala carte'. When we lived downstate we ate Chester's for lunch 2-3 times a week. Imagine my surprise finding this one. The convenience store was well stocked with so many yummy (and fresh!) goodies from fresh popcorn, beef jerky, gummy bears, fruits and a large selection of candy and drinks. The space itself was spacious and the workers were AMAZING. So incredibly kind and welcoming. This spot definitely gives a small town feel and I loved it! Will stop in again soon!

The employee said someone probably threw away a hot cigarette butt and it melted the plastic bag or can or something so they no longer had one. What a bummer.
