Charlie's Ice Cream is a great spot for soft serve and other sweet and cool treats in the Hialeah area. Our friend was craving this ice cream all week and decided to show us his childhood ice cream spot before going to the theater in the area. Parking is super tough here but we were able to snag a spot late on a Saturday night. This place was absolutely popping! There were so many people but the line seemed to move at a good pace. They have daily specials so make sure to check out the sign before ordering. They had BOGO soft serve cones that night so some of our friends opted for dipped cones. I got soft serve in a cup with Reese's peanut butter cup crumbles and the chocolate dip. We decided to stop for ice cream on our way home. I had heard good things about this place and it very did not disappoint. They have a large menu and also offer monthly flavors ( this month it's guava and cream cheese and it's delicious ) and creative items like ice cream nachos! They specialize in soft serve. After hearing so much about Charlie's Ice Cream I decided to give it a try while in the area. What I wasn't expecting was to see a drive thru line backed up onto the street and a line of people at the order window. It took about 30 minutes to get to order and this was on Sunday afternoon. So if you are in a rush this might not be the place but I will say they have a huge list of toppings and daily specials so you could come for months and never have the same thing. And although the lines were long the staff were friendly and didn't seem frustrated which provided a friendly atmosphere as you should expect from an Ice Cream place. My wife and I ended up getting Sundaes each as it was the BOGO special that day. I had a Sundae with Strawberry jam and Twix pieces. My wife had a Sundae with caramel drizzle and waffle cone pieces. Both were wonderful and brought back a nostalgic Sundae on a Sunday feeling. Will say they had a Ice Cream Nachos that seemed intriguing and will most likely be coming back to try that. Just recently visited this place it used to be a Dairy Queen but now serve soft serve in addition to ice cream and sundaes a but of everything. It's a ventanita style store and they have tables and chair to sit so you can enjoy your ice cream. The menu has a lot of options which can be overwhelming, prices range from $4.00- 7.00 but the serving is alot enough for two, the flavors are wonderful. I got the soft serve since I usually get ice cream flavor which was chocolate and vanilla with twix toppings flavor was very good 10/10. Servers were quick with the orders and service. Would love if they added more pictures to know what the different kinds of servings they have. But overall my experience was great. Definitely a place to check out on a hot summer day. I was taken aback when I saw the staff inside, some wearing flip-flop sandals, and a very filthy floor. I understand I came around 30-45 minutes before closing, but as someone who has worked in food service, cleanliness should be priority. My icecream cone was perfectly fine, but my girlfriends caramel shake wasn't properly blended which left chunks at the bottom. We usually go to Dairy Queen as she loves soft serve but this one is much better. She got the chocolate soft serve (small cone) and I got the chocolate/vanilla mix. Very creamy. There is nothing premium about the soft serve and since the owner had to mention in a response to another negative review that his sales increase "20%" yearly, I promise it's because of the marketing - not because of the service or food. Everyone working there was rude and looked miserable. They charged me and later came to say they didn't have what I ordered. Didn't offer me a refund and gave me a PLAIN HOT DRIPPING soft serve.
