We spent a week in Walker trying to catch fish following the mayfly hatch. We ate out three nights. One of those we had dessert here Ugly Cheesecake. The cookie dough cheesecake is delicious! We went back for dinner the next night. My husband had walleye dinner special. A huge fillet. It was good. I had the broaster chicken with au gratin potatoes. Best meal I had in Walker! I bought an extra piece of chicken and ate it for breakfast in the car. Can't wait to go back. We almost did not stop here because no one was in the parking lot but we are glad that we did. They have two areas to sit at either casual dining or bar area. Both areas looked nice but we were traveling with my son so picked the dining table. Service was perfect and waitress was very attentive to all of our needs and even brought out a bucket of candy for my son to pick an item when we were done. The food here is so delicious!!! If you go with the burger or club You better be hungry because they do not skimp at all! Burger was cooked to perfection and the club was piled high with very tasty ingredients. The staff was great as usual and the food was excellent. One thing that was not counted on was the waitress asked if we would like butter or sour cream on our two baked potatoes. We ordered two butters and a sour cream. We got the bill at the end of the meal and there was a $1.50 charge added. We found out it was a .50 cent per condiment charge that was never mentioned by the waitress. We still would have ordered the condiments, but two things-#1 It would have been nice if the waitress had mentioned there would be an additional charge, and #2 It's usually just kind of expected and normal to get butter (at least) included with the baked potato. We ordered 2 kids meals (chicken strips), an italian sandwich, a clubhouse, and 3 burgers. Kids meals were good, italian and clubhouse also good, great bread. The 3 burgers were WAY overdone and dried out. The waitress had actually asked us how we wanted them prepared, we all said medium rare. One was medium well, the other 2 were well done. The food was alright. My husband liked his walleye dinner. I had the Fried Mahi Mahi and it was just OK. The garlic mashed potatoes were the star of the meal; they were creamy and delicious. They are also one of the only restaurants in town open on Sunday evening. I only went once but, this is one place I will likely never go back to especially for in-door dining. It's been days and I'm still stunned at the lack of safety practices followed. It bothers me and concerns me. They have signs that masks are required but I watched 5 different people walk in and throughout the restaurant without wearing masks - at all. My husband asked one customer about wearing a mask and he refused citing "No, I'm good". The staff took no action and ignored It. One staff member wore her mask below her chin with her face completely exposed for about an hour while talking to customers and walking around the restaurant. Another staff member removed her mask entirely while cleaning tables inside while we and several customers were still in the restaurant. I would be less concerned and assume it would have been a better experience if the weather permitted eating on the patio. read more

I've drove by this place hundreds of times on my way to and from work, but I decided to finally give this hole-in-the-wall a shot. Initially after looking at the menu, I was ready to walk out. Everything seemed extremely over-priced, especially with the bar-atmosphere. However, I had 2 hAngry children who were desperate for some good eats. And that is exactly what they got! The food was top notch! My husband had the Cheeseburger, which was prepared just as ordered -medium rare. He claims the burger was in his "Top 5" best burgers that he's ever had. My daughters had the popcorn shrimp and macaroni and cheese, which they were raving about. I chose the all you can eat salad bar, which I had my fill of. The soup was included with salad bar and it was outstanding! To top it off, our waitress was as polite as can be. We were lucky to find a place open after 8pm in the Walker area. We got immediate seating and fast friendly service. I had the walleye sandwich and my husband had the French dip. By far the strangest experience. We all ordered food upwards of $25+ a plate and it all came cold. When we told the waitress she scraped the mashed potatoes off of our plates and brought it back and then microwaved them but didn't keep track who's was who's. So we ate each other's potatoes. Weird. Go here alllllllll the time when I'm at the cabin, and my parents are personal friends of Charlie himself. They run a pretty good establishment... nice place, great food and great prices. Casual, family-friendly and cozy atmosphere. The walls are adorned with animal skins, fish, deer heads, you name it. Darts and shuffleboard for the kids. Summer is great when they open the boat bar. Sometimes they'll have a DJ and Karaoke. We've had some fun times there. If you're staying in the area you really can't leave without visiting Charlie's. It's the best spot in Walker for a good time, and super convenient if you're planning to hop over to the casino after a good meal!! I was in the area visiting my sister and it was one of few open on a Sunday. I walked into a ghost town town of a eatery; I walked into the bar area and found the staff all gathered in the back of the bar. As soon as I asked if they were open, one of the staff replied, "yes they are open". I got my menu and was told to seat anywhere. The waitress came and chatted with me. I put my order in for a blt with no mayo. I usually substitute avocado for mayo, but they didn't have avocado. So a blt with no mayo it was. It did come with fries or for a $1 more you could get soup instead of fries. A few minutes later the waitress came out with my food. I got my food within 5 minutes. It was a good sized sandwich and delicious fries. A few minutes later I got my bill. And I was done. Overall very friendly staff, food(bacon, bread, and fries,) were only Luke warm like they just threw it in the microwave for a minute. Bread wasn't toasted. I wasn't asked about how I wanted it done. The outside is understated enough that we almost didn't go in. However, we decided to be adventurous and entered. To our delight, the entire interior had been remodeled and looked lovely.
