The breakfast burrito was the highlight of all the meals ordered on this two week vacation! And the connecting coffee shop (Timothy's World Coffee) had great coffee and a delicious cinnamon roll to round out the meal on the go. What I loved about the burrito is it was made with fresh prepared vegetables (they were just finishing up being roasted when we got there), beans, scrambled eggs and tasty sauces/salsa and it was real, whole food, healthy and filling. The few staff working were super nice and accommodating, encouraging us to walk thru to the coffee shop to get some coffee and to sit if we wanted, although they do have indoor seating. The setting felt like a mini-indoor market, which it actually was. You can buy your organic produce and fresh prepared meals in containers and be set for the next several days.

And not the typical king of meats, beef, but its too frequently overlooked, delicious little brother - pork. Located in good-sized building along Westville Road, The Pork Shop has a handful of large coolers packed with tons of different sausages (the usual suspects plus cool ones like donair and curry that I'd love to try), many different cuts of pork, a few types of bacon (including the all-to-rare peameal bacon), and beef and chicken for people that aren't s big of fans of pork as I am. Shelves of dry goods to go with your meat line the walls - local jams, honey, sauerkraut, etc. Their website is really great too, listing all of their carnivorous options as well as descriptions of each. Much to my own chagrin, I don't live nearby and don't have a car, so transporting meat is a bit of a hassle/major heath concern. As such, the only meat I've yet tried is my dad's favourite, their marinated capacola pork chops. Luckily for me, it's a damn fine marinade and the pork chops turn out great on the grill - even when my dad, who's infamous for overcooking chops, does them. This may have a bit to do with their hefty thickness, so they're harder to dry out entirely. The flavour is rich and peppery, and I'm guessing the red tint is from paprika since there isn't a spicy hit to them. Get these, grill them up, and openly laugh in the face of those who think beef reigns supreme. On one of my visits back I just may have to load up a cooler with ice packs and smuggle some sausage and bacon back to the city with me. PS. watch out for the horrible potholes in their gravel parking lot.

My brother and sister-in-law gave my husband and I a gift box from Maritime Madness for Christmas…read more Maritime Madness is a Canadian company, from you guessed it, The Maritimes! They specialize in hot sauces, spicy rubs and spicy peanut brittle. We got 4 bottles of hot sauces and a bag of Ghost Pepper Peanut Brittle. I went on the website to report prices for y'all, lol. Most of their bottles of hot sauces are $9.95, there are a few that are more expensive. They come in plastic squeeze bottles instead of the usual glass bottles that hot sauces come in. The Mustard Pickle one is delicious on burgers. With a burn rating of 6 (I think their hottest is 12) it has a bit of a kick but no mouth on fire burn, lol. The Moonshine Habanero I believe is their original hot sauce. It's quite spicy with a burn rate of 9. It tastes more like a "regular" hot sauce as opposed to the more creative flavours ones. I like the more unusual flavours, but hot sauces purists will enjoy this one. The Tropical Habanero one is excellent. It has flavours of mango and pineapple, two of my favourite fruits. It's pretty spicy with a burn rate of 10. I don't find it spicer than the Moonshine Habanero though. The Candied Blueberry one is unusual. It's burn rating is only 4 so it's really mild with just the slightest twinge of spice. It's really sweet. It goes well with cream cheese, goat cheese or brie to add a bit of sweet and spicy to your sandwiches. This one is a bit less versatile, but very unique. Spicy peanut brittle are $4.95 a bag. The Ghost Pepper one is pretty spicy, but not unbearably so. It's a nice twist on regular peanut brittle. The peanut brittle is good too, it's crunchy and buttery, and doesn't stick to your teeth. Their online store doesn't carry all their products, as they have in-store exclusives, like beef jerky! Not sure if I'll ever be in Montague, PEI, where their flagship store is, but they also have a store in the Founders Hall and Market in Charlottetown, PEI, and I'm very likely to be there sometime in the future! I'll be sure to look for their in-store exclusives! So I used to make fun of those people who put hot sauce on everything, but Maritime Madness has turned me into one of those people. I don't know whether to say "Damn you, Maritime Madness!" or "Thank you, Maritime Madness!" Lol.

I love hot sauces, but the beef jerky caught my eye. The hot n spicy is too much ghost pepper, and it lacks flavoring despite my love for spice. The sweet n hot has the right balance of texture, and flavoring, although it could use a bit more heat. For a side bar, small batch product,Red Clay beef jerky is better than Jack Link jerky's original in my opinion. The bad,it means they don't meet the requirements to ship outside PEI due to Canada beef licensing rules.Y'all will have to return,or ask folks you know to pick some Red Clay jerky up when they visit:)

As this is Prince Edward Island (PEI), I had to order the super fresh oysters! Exceptional flavor, color, juice and you could tell these were only a few hours from being caught! June 23/2026: Solo travel lunch…read more Let's start with the food. I asked my server "Leah L" if the scallops were prepared, battered & finished "in house" she said they were. They WEREN'T. As a lifelong Scallop consumer I KNOW the difference between in-house battered scallops & what's brought in from a food distributor. I ordered a Scallop Meal ($40.99) with fries, which were very good & an extra order of scallops ($16.99). I wouldn't have purchased or even eaten at this spot if they weren't in fact house prepared scallops. The fried scallops were place on a bed of wet lettuce garnishing, everyone knows that when you place something fried on something wet...the fried food becomes soggy! As for the service was ok but I had to ask for a water refill, extra napkins & I ran out of tartar sauce. A really good server monitors their patrons from afar & knows to take care of the things above BEFORE the patrons asks. This location positions themselves as very good but they're just mediocre with really expensive scallops! Keep In mind that this is a very small location with seating for about 20-30 people. I'd maybe do again but I wouldn't make it a destination. From my experience, there's likely better seafood restaurants on PEI.
