Water Prince Corner Shop is a family run little cafe/restaurant with a full seafood menu to satisfy any seafarer! As this is Prince Edward Island (PEI), I had to order the super fresh oysters! Exceptional flavor, color, juice and you could tell these were only a few hours from being caught! They only needed a kiss of lemon and minimal if any Tabasco. Very tender and unique as these were from the St Lawrence River side NOT the Atlantic. If you're looking for a non- touristy place where the locals eat, this is one of those places! Came back to try the lobster roll. Lobster in a toasted bun. A 'strip' of mayo and a sprig of lettuce. The meat was good, as it should be for fresh lobster. Plain and simple. The egg salad, I mean potato salad on the side was tasty, yet had to look for any potato bits in it. The oysters? Again, they were fresh and good. Served With a dollop of cocktail sauce and lemon wedge. We had to get horseradish and mix it ourselves. We won't be back. For the price and the lack of preparation of the food, I'll go elsewhere. read more

June 23/2026: Solo travel lunch. Let's start with the food. I asked my server "Leah L" if the scallops were prepared, battered & finished "in house" she said they were. They WEREN'T. As a lifelong Scallop consumer I KNOW the difference between in-house battered scallops & what's brought in from a food distributor. I ordered a Scallop Meal ($40.99) with fries, which were very good & an extra order of scallops ($16.99). I wouldn't have purchased or even eaten at this spot if they weren't in fact house prepared scallops. The fried scallops were place on a bed of wet lettuce garnishing, everyone knows that when you place something fried on something wet...the fried food becomes soggy! As for the service was ok but I had to ask for a water refill, extra napkins & I ran out of tartar sauce. A really good server monitors their patrons from afar & knows to take care of the things above BEFORE the patrons asks. This location positions themselves as very good but they're just mediocre with really expensive scallops! Keep In mind that this is a very small location with seating for about 20-30 people. I'd maybe do again but I wouldn't make it a destination. From my experience, there's likely better seafood restaurants on PEI. read more

The ambiance here is something special- you really feel like you're taking part of Charlottetown culture. The salmon was perfectly flaky- a rarity to find at restaurants where they always overcook fish. Sadly, they seemed to be REALLY confused about my request for a dairy free dish and it had to be discussed at length that no, please don't use butter on the fish or anything else, please use olive oil and then my carrots ended up soaked in butter along with my potato coming with sour cream on the plate. Thankfully I don't have a severe allergy but there should not have been dairy anywhere near my plate after that long conversation! But overall, was still really happy with the salmon, views and overall vibes! read more

This was our first lobster roll on our vacation and it did not disappoint. They didn't have availability for seating so we ordered to go. The only reason for 4 stars was because one staff said they we could eat our to go order on the picnic tables outside and then another staff said we couldn't. Came here after a round of golf. Was sat down immediately. Host was very kind. Place is known for their lobster roll and tbh it didn't disappoint. Lobster is served chill but you can get warm butter if that's your thing. The clam chowder is perfection especially on a cooler night. I would go back for the clam chowder. We sat outside at the picnic tables and ordered my lobster roll, but for the side I traded for a side salad. The side salad was fresh and so dang good. Water Prince came highly recommended on Yelp and TripAdvisor. We had a table outside and arrived early. By the time we had finished our lunch, there was a wait for a table. This place is your quintessential Prince Edward Island lunch spot. The building is over 200 years old and it was just a lovely little place. Our waitress could not have been more helpful. She shared some insights on the building, the area and on the menu. We opted to split the lobster roll, which was market price. We also split the mussels. The mussels were absolutely phenomenal. The white wine sauce/broth was exceptional. We also really enjoyed the lobster roll, which was served with a delicious potato salad. We had local beers called Beach Chair lager, and they were great. This lobster joint is on the corner, right when you leave the cruise port. Wow! So close to get to what is quite possibly the best lobster place in town. Everything was generously served, and the quality of the seafood was so fresh! Fresh mussels, fresh lobster, cooked for you on the spot, seafood chowder, and my very first lobster roll. Have to admit, it was my first one, but oh my gosh, what a sandwich! The service was homey and warm, just the nicest people working there! This is a cruise ship destination with lots of touristy shops in the area. We were looking for a good and local seafood meal and were steered here. Yes, we were sitting with lots of other tourists but the place was cozy, the service was friendly and the seafood was delicious. Sure it's a proverbial tourist trap. And sure, you feel a little foolish falling for that. And sure, if you're lucky enough to grab an outside-on-the-sidewalk-table, people (more tourists) marching by will slow, stop and stare at whatever is on your table so be ready for the jealous scrutiny! It really is a tiny hole in the wall that serves big food! Seafood platters, burgers, kid's menu, and beer, wine & cocktails all come out of somewhere magical, back of the house. The Water Prince Corner Shop is an old time institution filled with photos of famous patrons and always bustling with full tables. We booked ahead and was seated promptly, but our server was super busy and we waited for a while as she whipped around table to table. We finally got our orders in and spent most of the time taking in all the decor and photos that plasters every inch of the space. We shared some mussels and I had the fishcake with salad. Place is famous. Lines out the door. Not sure why. The place has some nice charm with beautiful decorations. But they sell lobster by the pound and dont give you what you order. Ordered a 1 pound lobster was given 1.5 pound lobster and only found out when paying the bill. I hate bait and switch restaurants. I did however enjoy their local wine list. They had Matos Winery wines available which was great. I'm a fan of their chardonnay and they actually had it here. Mussels were good. I guess anything fresh always tastes good. This place was amazing! We are from Louisiana where seafood is plentiful. All of the seafood we ate was fresh and steamed to perfection. The chowder and the homemade biscuit were delicious. Definitely not the best fried shrimp or lobster rolls but the lobster did taste fresh and we always like to support local family businesses and would eat here again. This was one of the restaurants recommended by the staff at our hotel. It's located at the intersection of Water Street and Prince Street. We walked in to find the restaurant completely filled with customers. It took a quick second for a server to acknowledge us, ask if we had a reservation (looks like we should've made one), and then show us to a recently vacated table. Upon looking around I saw that Water Prince Corner Shop was featured on You Gotta Eat Here! (a show on the Food Network) and everything that the other customers were dining on looked good. A really fresh corner seafood shop. Was highly recommended by friends. We ordered the seafood platter, The crab cluster Platter, and ofc a lobster roll. Everything was really fresh! Even the lobsters which were out of season at the time. My favorite however surprisingly was the scallops. SO JUICY. The lobster roll here seem really unique though, where the lobster by itself is basically not seasoned, which really let the lobster sing it's flavor. Found myself here on a cruise ship port day. For the owner, the horse drawn tour operator suggested your restaurant as the best. My wife and I both ordered lobster rolls, and got an order of the fried scallops to share. I can honestly say in the entire 10 day cruise, this was the best meal we had. The Water Prince Corner shop has great history and is a cute place. You need a reservation. But my experience was sure disappointing. Our server Charlie sure did not care and the service was bad. I ordered the 1/2 Lobster , mussels and fried scallops dinner with a salad. I had requested the salad before the main meal without onions. The salad came with onions and with the meal - no big deal. Just ticks me off when the server doesn't care !! The lobster was cold and was rubbery. The mussels were over cooked and was tasteless. The only positive thing on the platter was the fried scallops which were amazing. When I mentioned my concern to Charlie she just blew it off. My wife had the shrimps which were amazing. Sorry but when you are paying top dollar for a lobster dinner and the customer complains that the mussels were over cooked and that lobster was not good you should bring this to management attention. The services was below standard and your front line people have a bad attitude you need to fix this. This was our only disappointing meal on PEI!! read more

First of all, reservations are recommended. It's the size of a corner store, best guess is seating for about 27 jam packed. You can show up and wait, but hard to say how that will work out. This was probably my favorite overall restaurant while in Charlottetown area. The staff were fabulous, the room had prrsonality and the food was great. We went there for lobster rolls, and we were not disappointed. The rolls are not the typical bun, but closer to thick cut bread with an opening in the middle, and grilled. The filling is generous and delicious. Also had the chowder, excellent. No room for dessert but the had some tempting choices, including a great looking pie.
