Dr. Kim is so gentle and sweet. I have a big phobia of dental care because of previous bad experiences with other dentists. I especially hate the numbing shots. Dr. Kim has extremely gentle hands and I barely felt anything. He even gave me a nice pat on the head for getting through it hahaha, it was very reassuring. I've had a root canal and a crown placement so far and I'm scheduled for some more work (sadly I neglected my teeth for a while due to fear and lack of time) and I know that Dr. Kim will take care of me. His credentials are also phenomenal. He's an extremely accomplished person in his field and yet his bedside manner is excellent. His staff are also lovely, his dental assistant has the same reassuring and sweet demeanor. The front office lady is really good about calling you before your appointment to remind you, which is great for a forgetful person like me. I drive 45 minutes to go the this dental office because it's worth the drive. I would recommend Dr. Kim to anyone who needs quality dental work delivered by a highly skilled and extremely kind Doctor who has built a very professional and pleasant team. HORRIBLE DENTIST! He gave my mom a crown, which was was causing her pain. They just gave her meds and sent her home. Then her face swelled up like a balloon a few days later and they said they would fix her tooth. They ended up cracking the tooth next to it. Then they tried to fix the cracked tooth and shave it down to a toothpick. When asked them to fix it all they said we would have to pay to get it all fixed. He said for us to sue them if we wanted him to fix for free. Then when we asked for records so we could go elsewhere they said they were going to charge $60. They gave us records but if we wanted X-rays, that would cost $150. Really? read more

Honestly, I have seen many dentists in past 25 years after I came to the country but this dentist (Dr. Kim) and his staff probably ranks the highest on my list of all dentists I saw. The clinic has perhaps the best and the newest technologies (3D X-rays) to give an 360 degree overview of patient's teeth. Dr. Kim uses the TV to exam, diagnose and explain THOROUGHLY to his patient about what he is seeing, with the patient together, and provide his diagnosis and recommended treatments. I have always liked to be educated from any doctors' visit to learn about my health situation. With nowadays the convenience of Google and internet, it always helps me to learn about my health and treatments needed. For Dr. Kim, I feel that I've always gotten very clear and thorough information to decide what I need and want to do for my teeth. I highly recommend him. The only downside is his English is not as good as his dental expertise. But to compensate, he has a strong group of staff who speak both English and Mandarin (my native tongue) to help him translate the technical terms. I found it is no problem for me since Sharon did an excellent job in translating Mandarin and others also speak fluent English in the office to help patients. But if anything, that is the only thing I noticed though it is no problem for me. Lastly, selfishly I hope not too many people would read this review so it would be easier for me to make my future appointments there. But if you are reading and willing to give it a try, I don't think you would be disappointed. I recommended this clinic to both my mom and my wife, they both agree that this is a dentist who you would hardly find in this competitive field. I came in to get my back molars checked, but he disregarded that and planned to drill into two other teeth because he said that tooth had cavities inside. I went along with it because, you know, he's the "expert." Long story short, he only drilled into one and after the operation he tells me I can't chew on that side of my mouth anymore. Wtf? Aren't you supposed to tell people these things BEFORE you go about hollowing out someone's teeth? Also why only one tooth? Did he read the X-Rays wrong and find out he screwed up? This was too suspicious. I would also like to add that his "filling" was terribly done, there is a little divot in the filling that I have to constantly floss to clear out. Sometimes, gum gets stuck in there, which is concerning. I regret going there. read more

Excellent customer service. Staff was very nice and friendly. They can speak Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese. High tech Xray machine n flat screen Tv for the charts. Dr. Kim is well trained. First of all, it is my fault since I choose it just because of the price. Then, come to my second mistake, the dentist who does not speak English became a huge communication gap instead of my original thought he must be an excellent technical guy without speaking English. The dentist was not only rough on the patient "persistently" but also rude to his assistant... Now, the top of my implant is loose and moving after less than three months.. Highly recommend! I was due for a teeth cleaning and decided to check out Charm Dental Group in the Greenland Market plaza. To begin, the front desk staff were extremely friendly and understanding - I had to reschedule my appointment due to a personal emergency at the last minute and they were more than accommodating, allowing me to reschedule with no issues. The customer service i received during my visit was excellent as well and the staff members all seemed very knowledgeable about the various treatment plans. The facility is very clean and quite big. During my visit, what surprised me the most was the modern technology implemented around the office. Every patient room is filled with a large TV, and we are able to see 3D x-rays of our teeth and follow along with exactly what Dr. Kim is explaining during the consultation process. I'm usually not a fan of the dentist, but Dr. Kim made me actually enjoy my visit. He began the teeth cleaning process by listing out the steps he was taking. Personally, I have sensitive gums and getting my teeth cleaned at other offices usually always irritates them, but Dr. Kim did an amazing job at handling my teeth with care. Overall, I highly recommend Charm Dental Group for anyone in the Rowland Heights area. The friendly staff, latest technology, and especially Dr. Kim make the visit a memorable one. Dr. Kim is one of a doctor who tries to save my teeth as much as possible. He told me to keep an eye on the progress, despite some cavities in my teeth, unlike a few other doctors, and now cavities didn't bother me anymore. August 29, 2020 Re: New complaint by Yang Shin Kim Mr. Sung Koo Kim, I am writing to make a formal complaint about your gross negligence and incompetence with my procedure that I have undergone with you at your practice. The procedure I have undergone on August 2017 involved Dr. Sung Koo Kim. I had went in for a crown which within the first 5 months has fallen out. I went back to you with this same issue only a few months after as it fell out yet again, where you recommended using a stronger adhesive to intact my crown in place. And now currently, as you are fully aware, the entire implant and crown is loose and currently unsecured and on the verge of the entire implant and crown falling out. This has been on ongoing issue months after months within the last three years from the initial procedure. It has fallen out twice and now it has become even a bigger issue that you have created. Your work is unacceptable and is directly related to your professional negligence. This affected me where I feel the way I was treated by you breaches my rights and the expected standards of care was not met with your vain attempts. This is to inform you that your careless approach towards your work can no longer be tolerated. You have been given the opportunity to rectify this matter not once but twice but have failed to do so. This is the third time the expectations were not met as now I need to undergo an entire implant procedure because of this. This is not the quality that you should be giving to your patients. I refuse to have you do any further procedures on me as you have already failed twice to make it right. To resolve this complaint, I will be seeking a qualified doctor to repair the damages you made and I demand that you compensate the entire cost of my new procedure where I will forward the invoice to you and also seek a full refund from the past procedure as the outcomes were not met. I have also been in contact with The Dental Board of California - Complaints Advocacy Service, which the CSA has advised me how to make a complaint and offered future assistance if needed and logged details of my concerns on their complaints database. Came in for the first time on on 6/14 for a regular dental exam and scaling (they have a promotion going on for $30). This location is fairly new so the interior is modern and the staff are all very friendly. I have had my teeth scaled at different locations in previous years but I noticed that the lady who did my teeth at Charm really took her time with my teeth. I'm happy to say that I will be coming back here for all future dental appointments. read more

Came in Tuesday morning at 9 am with appointment. Great crew, fabulous customer service. Right now the exam, X-ray, and cleaning cost only $30. It is located in the same plaza as Greenland market. My teeth are very clean and very happy now. I go to school in Atlanta, GA but I will definitely go to this dental office every time I visit. =) read more
