There was only one server at the time when I went in. Food was good and portions were huge, great for sharing. I got: Chicken biryani (serves 2) 4/5 - This was in massive portions with a mountain of rice and full chicken legs hidden throughout. It was topped with an egg sliced in half, some sauced chicken breast pieces and raw onion. I thought that there wasn't enough raw onion for the ratio of the rice. Also came with a yogurt sauce to help with the spice. Overall, very flavourful, delicious and great for sharing. Butter chicken with garlic naan 5/5 - Thought this was delicious, creamy, tomatoey, and had the perfect amount of spice. Garlic naan was already crispy and paired well with the butter chicken. I devoured this one and wanted more. Overall, a solid place for dinner or lunch. Portions are huge, especially if it's the biryani. Charminar is more like 5-minar. When I first arrived, I didn't have high expectations because of its appearance, but as they say, don't judge a book by its cover. I took my seat and ordered some food. Here's what we had: - Tandoori - 7/10: The taste was fine, but I deducted 3 points because it seemed like the tandoori was fried. - Mutton Roast - 10/10: The mutton was soft and incredibly flavorful. - Hyderabadi Chicken - 10/10: Spicy and flavorful, it was delicious. The spice level is intense, but enjoyable. - Amravati Chicken - 10/10: My first time trying this dish, and it was great. It was slightly sweeter than the Hyderabadi Chicken. - Malai Kofta - 10/10: Paired with naan, this was my favorite. Highly recommended for vegetarians. The ambience is sleek and modern. The prices are fair. The service is great. I wish they allowed us to add a tip while paying with card, because when I went, only cash tips were possible. Coming to the food - everything was good. As the name suggests, the restaurant specializes in cuisine from the city of Hyderabad in India, but also carry dishes from generally the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Guntur chicken appetizer - order only if you like it hot. The name comes from the guntur chili that grows in the aforementioned region of India, and can clock up to 350k on the Scoville scale. The seeds were generously garnishing the chicken as a warning as well, and boy it rocked my world. I knew what I was getting into, but also full marks for flavor and the cook on the chicken (moist and tender). Gutti vankaya biryani - yeah, everyone knows about Hyderabadi dum biryani represented on menus mostly by chicken or goat. But if you want to try something different, or if you don't eat meat, then try this option with the dum cooked (sealed and steamed) eggplant! Please check if they use ghee if you're vegan. While the humble eggplant doesn't lend as much punch of flavor into the basmati rice as chicken or mutton, it still packs a flavor package that is best eaten with a scoop of the rice. You also get the standard gravy and raita on the side because it is a biryani after all. Chicken pulao - pretty good, nothing to shout home about, but I came here for the biryani, so it was an afterthought to my experience. Chai - ya, they make a fine masala chai. Dinner at Charminar was okay. We ordered an onion dosa, as the dosa we originally wanted was sold out. The dosa seemed over crispy. There was a lot of raw onion, which I didn't enjoy. (I hadn't realized it would be raw onion just sprinkled on the dosa.) The sauces were okay. We also ordered Idli which was fine, with a spongy texture. Flavours in the sauces were ok, but not super tasty I also ordered a sweet lassi, which was good. Service was all right. They actually didn't originally give me the sweet lassi I ordered, but charged me for it at the end of dinner. When I brought this discrepancy to their attention, they offered to make the sweet lassi then, so I did get it in the end; I just had to wait a while and take it to go. However, if I hadn't checked the bill, it seems they would have simply charged me for an item that they never gave me, which would not be great. read more

This spot is a gem for vegetarians like myself. I haven't had Biryani since a long time as this dish is not an easy task . And couldn't find any spot with good Biryani and that too veg Biryani. Let me tell you that this place is too good for biryani lovers. I had Paneer tikka Biryani and it was so so delicious. Flavours were oozing out of each strand of the Biryani. Completely enjoyed my Friday night takeout . Definitely coming back for trying another dishes. I also ordered a Mysore masala dosa and that too was yummy but Biryani truly stands out . A recent occasion has a tradition that we should consume biryani. It is really hard to find a place where one can find a vegan Biryani and this place was no different. Although to their credit they have a few items that are clearly marked vegan. Ordered a family pack of Paneer Tikka Biryani and a regular Veg Dum Biryani. The Family pack came with a order of Baby Corn Manchurian and two pieces of Gulab Jamun. Also for myself I ordered a Veg Fried Rice. The website says it come with egg, requested it with out egg and the at the restaurant they confirmed that they don't add egg as it is Indian Vegetarian. The biryanis were good, the Paneer Biryani was the better version of the two. The Biryanis also come with raita and salan. The disappointing thing was the salan. It was too watery and they I have had is it made with coconut, sesame and peanuts. Tasted more tomato-y. The Veg fried rice was good and rice was good quality basmati. The online order process was super simple and amazing. Got a slight discount as well. I guess I will have to wait for a place to get vegan Biryani. read more

This used to be my go to place during my stay in the Marriott. The restaurant has elegant decor, mouth watering food and excellent service. Charminar brings the true authentic taste of South Indian delicacies. I have tried many items from their menu but I would like to mention my favorites here and they are: Mutton Chops - Bone-in goat chops marinated in spices and grilled in clay oven. It was very flavorful, that could be enjoyed with all your sense. Karampodi Kodi (Chicken) - Boneless deep fried chicken, sautéed with South Indian spices and herbs. This was juicy and made to perfection as a starter. Just lip smacking. Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biriyani - They have too many varieties (25+) of biryanis, and this one is my most favorite one. Cut Mirchi - This is traditional Andhra street food, fried stuffed chilli. No it is not that hot, its so enjoyable with the green chutney they provide. They have many vegetarian options along with the meat ones, so its a treat for all. This year on my birthday I wanted to have biryani. I had read about this new restaurant in Mississauga which serve different types of biryanis. So we decided to order for take out. I called to order, the lady explained the menu nicely. We ordered Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani family pack. It comes with an appetizer, raita, mirchi saalan and dessert. I went there to pick up, they were following the social distancing protocol properly and they have hand sanitizers near the door and counters. We got chicken 65 appetizer ( it's deep fried chicken pieces stir fried in South Indian spices) and Gulab Jamun as dessert. Food was okay. The quantity was good for 2 people, being a family pack it should be good for a family of 3-4, but it was not. Chicken 65 had good flavour, but chicken pieces are too small. Biryani had good flavour but the rice were little dry, it needed more moisture ( from ghee ) and more dum cooking. Quantity of raita and mirchi saalan ( tangy spicy gravy ) was only good for 1 person. Overall an okay experience, nothing extraordinary. They just opened a week ago, so maybe still trying to figure out the perfect recipe and quantity. I might try it once more after couple of months, to see if they have made any improvements. read more

We had ordered a take on Dec 25th night and picked up around 9:30 pm at Missisauga branch. The order was a veg biryani, guntur paneer,vijaywada boneless chicken biryani and guntur chicken. Once we started having dinner I felt a strong piece of plastic in the food which is shown in the picture attached. Its a plastic piece of wire tag. Secondly the mirchi salan was completely burnt and stale. Thirdly the color in biryani was so heavy that it lead to upset stomach with severe pain. When this has been reported to the Restaurant supervisor ,she said it will be informed to the Manager and we dint receive a call from the Manager. But the supervisor called back with a 20% discount for next order. When such hazardous health reaction occurs its minimum courtesy for the manager to speak to the customer addressing the issue. read more

This is THE biryani place to try in Mississauga! They have a hugeee selection of biryanis. It's a treat specially for vegetarians and egg-itarians. The ulavacharu egg biryani is one of the best I've had, and the salan they offer on the side is even better. The larger sizes come with a starter (usually chicken65/chilli chicken or fried corn) and a dessert (gulabjamun or rasmalai) which is a sweet deal. They have other items on the menu that are decent. Horrible experience sent me to the hospital. The website had nowhere stating about allergies. The menu has things that contain nuts and are not specified clearly for the customer Under specific dishes. The butter chicken has cashews and it doesn't say it has it on the menu. I have eaten butter chicken everywhere and had never had a reaction like this before. I trusted what the menu had said and didn't question it. The manager kept blaming me for not telling the server. This traumatic experience sent me to the hospital in a anaphylactic shock and all they wanted to offer me was money back for what I had ate which was 40 dollars worth. This is a joke considering I almost died because the menu is misleading people. Very disappointed with the way they handled this situation. I will never go back there again. read more

To my suprise and shock, I received almost burnt and almost black charcoal like chicken tikka kebab and only 4 pieces of this burnt kebab. Received two pieces of chicken in laal chicken curry with one bone of potential piece floating in the curry. Only the bone,mind you.I reported this to the lady manager who CALLED ME A LIAR, insulted me saying"I hope you know what tikka kebab tastes like" and asked me that if I'm still dissatified , I need to go to their restaurant personally and ask for a replacement. I earlier reported this issue to her junior when I called the restaurant first who said that manager will call me back. I patiently waited to be heard by the manager who insulted me and treated me in the most inhuman way possible.
