We ordered Shahi chicken korma, tandoori chicken and butter & garlic naans and the tandoori wasn't as good as it used to be. Very mild flavours, hardly any spices. The naans were quite chewy and were hard to tear apart. We let the staff know and they said they were made fresh and served us another batch as a compensation but still it tasted the same. My sister took me here introducing their combo options, which was just great and worth the price for the thali. The semi gravy chicken 65 served on the day was mouth watering. The boneless chicken biriyani that we opted for had a rich flavor of spices. Butter chicken, as always yum. Even got a gulab jamun dessert, and for someone like me who's not a fan of vegetable thalis, this was a treat! Loved it, and we also got chicken tikka biriyani for takeout. I wouldn't recommend it for hardcore biriyani fans, as there's some sweetness to it and doesn't really feel like the authentic biriyani. We used to order the Boneless Mutton biryani bucket from time to time until a year ago, which was good-sized portion and tasted good. We started trying different restaurants after that. I recently ordered the Jumbo pack, which was marked as serves for 4 (more than the bucket, marked as serves 3 now) and when it arrived the pack was hilariously small. Much smaller than the bucket we used to buy. Nothing JUMBO about the portion as they claimed especially for the price ($68 incl. tax). Hyderabadi Biryani Hut provides bigger portion compared to the jumbo for almost half the price. Food tastes fine but it was cold (and probably not fresh) and they seem too stingy with their portions. I came here for the first time with a group of 10 The food overall was pretty good. there were some certain items that were great standouts and other items that really were below average. We decided to do appetizers and drinks first as well as mains. For Apps, we got the following: Chili chicken Amritsar Fish Chicken 65 Gobhi Manchurian Paneer 65 honestly all these were all really good, especially the chicken 65 which was pretty spicy. For Mains, we got the following: A few Masala Dosas Mutton Biryani Chicken Biryani Butter Chicken Garlic Naan & Plain Naans Most of these items were great, but the Dosas were stale and I found the Butter Chicken to taste pretty sweet. One main issue was that both Biryanies were served significantly later than the rest of the mains, which kind of made for an awkward experience. I was also a little disappointed to see that the beverages were served in to-go containers like the mango lassi was in a plastic container with a lid and straw as well. the filtered coffee was served in to go hot coffee cups with lids. something else that was pretty frustrating was that they offered solo biryani pots and buckets of biryani, but you could only order those for takeout. they were not an option when you dine in. overall the service was pretty good. There was quite a few times where we had to ask for quarter plates, utensils, more water, etc. I was also really surprised that the staff actually asked us to wrap it up once we were done. I think there are better ways to encourage customers to leave sooner like serving the food quicker, cleaning up quicker and bringing the bill promptly. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. I was in the vicinity. After a long customer service debacle at a nearby store, I arrive here around 3.30 pm .. hungry and burnt in the sun. The interior was pleasantly cool. Service good. Not many people. I had their Boneless Goat Biryani. It came with yogurt and sauce. It was good. In layers just the way Biryani should be. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. I like this place, at least the dishes I had was good. Ordered that hot and sour soup (or it was the chicken bone soup), and chicken biryani. The soup was sooo spicy but perfect for a cold weather. Can't believe I finished the entire bowl. Biryani was yum too. It came with such as big bowl and turned out that it was just regular size. Service was a bit below the bar. We ordered some takeout for Friday night. I called in to place the order and the person took the order had a very strong accent, but they were patient with me. The whole order took quite long, about 40 minutes to be completed. We came to pick up but had to wait a while. There seem to be a lot of staff in the main dining room but not much activity. The restaurant looks very nice with ambient vibe. The menu is so so big with so so many options. We got the Chicken 65 (Dry), Karaikudi Goat Curry, Butter Chicken, and Chicken Tikka Biryani with garlic naan. Each dish is about 17-19$ so very reasonable. The food was so flavorful and had good amount of meat except the biryani. The naan were so soft and buttery. We loved everything we ordered even though the goat curry was very very spicy. This is my second time at this spot. I grew up in Hyderabad and was craving some spicy Andhra/Telengana cuisine. Over the two visits , We tried the Chicken Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, the Spicy Chicken Temper biryani, the Goat Gongura Biryani, and the Vijayawada chicken Biryani. Taste was pretty spot on - thousands of fflavor profiles bombarding your taste buds and, at times, assaulting them with the spice! The portions are large. We took the leftovers for a good meal the following day! The kids also tried the Poori, which was amazing with Chana. I really enjoy the indian food here. The prices are reasonable and portions are very generous. I believe this restaurant used to be a different name - a chain from the states but they had to change their name for reasons unknown. I have tried their butter chicken which comes with rice or naan, their chicken Briyani and vegetable Briyani, chicken 555 and their onion dosa. I enjoy all the food that I ordered here. If you like spicy foods, chicken 555 would be perfect because it's made with a red chili sauce and cashews. The butter chicken is very flavourful and generous portions of the chicken and sauce compared to other Indian restaurants. The Briyani are good as well with lots of spices. I particularly liked the vegetable and paneer one more because I liked the mixture of vegetables and cubes of paneer. The dosa is huge and comes with a variety of sauces for your liking. Overall service is pretty good, typical of what you would find at an indian restaurant. read more

Once you enter, the left side has a small section for take-out. The restaurant itself is a decent size and has some nice decor, such as light fixtures. We arrived around 1:00 PM and were seated right away. Service was standard and we didn't have to wait too long for food. Food Plain Dosa: crepe made with fermented lentil flour Masala Dosa: savoury crepe filled with mildly spiced mashed potatoes Paneer Dosa: medium crepe stuffed with shredded paneer The dosas were pretty basic and each came with 3 chutneys (coconut, tomato, peanut) and 1 sambar (lentil soup). The peanut chutney was new to me, but it was by far my favorite. The quantity of masala and paneer filling was very limited compared to what's served at other restaurants. I was expecting a paneer curry, but it looked like it was just plain shredded paneer and because of this, you especially don't get a lot of it. We requested the masala and paneer to be made spicy but neither were. For good dosas, you're better of going to Subiksha Foods. Although, the restaurant isn't as nice as Charminar, you get better quality and quantity for less than what you would pay here. If I do return, it would probably be to try the biryani. read more

Indian food in Toronto is tough to fine. Well at least a good spot it, and mostly because there are sooo many places to choose from. But I believe Charminar provides an authentic experience for biryanis and that's if you love biryanis. We usually order the vegetable dum biryani, paneer butter masala, naan and the all gobi appetizer. Everything is very tasty but very spicy! So I would ask them to make everything mild, unless you prefer the extreme heat. The portion sizes are good. The interiors are okay. And it's always super busy. Even though we order take out at least 30-45 mins before usually they never have the order on time. So I would say order an hour in advance or else you'll end up waiting for another 15-20 mins while you are there as they are super disorganized about take out. The customer service is okay, they always seem overwhelmed. They are super busy so I would avoid the weekends for sit in. read more

Note: there is ample parking at the rear We step in and we're seated. There is something to be said with any restaurant that doesn't have a set standard for their wait staff. Often I find the right amount of attention can set the tone for a good dining experience. In this case after being sat down. We were left to our own devices. I wish our server could have stopped by to explain the menu before we ordered. She just assumed we knew what we want. We ordered the dosa with curried potato filling, chicken 65 wet, chicken biriani, butter chicken and some fresh bhatura's. If you do order the dosa then you will find table space lacking. The tables for 2 or 4 guests were not big enough. The biriani was good but get the one with a chicken skewer to avoid getting pieces of chicken buried in the rice and having to toss the bones. This could have been addressed had our server asked me what type of biriani I wanted. The bhatura's were excellent as was the butter chicken. But the fact we did not see our server until we were done. As I alluded to having a set approach you could have had a visit within 5 mins of the food arriving to ask? Is everything ok? I get that some places are family and a select group of friends but paying no attention to the service can often undermine the customer experience. This may also explain the many take out orders that were piled up at the front. PS: they offer bottles of tap water. I just wish it was chilled or that ice was offered. Also if you need a glass or two to manage some of the spicy offerings then best to ask for a second bottle up front. I just do not know where on the table you will have the room. read more

Came to this place to try their dosas (it's halal)! We got a booth as soon as we walked in and our food came pretty fast. The chicken 65 dosa and the goat Keema dosa were my favourite. They were very flavourful and spicy. I wasn't a big fan of the chutneys and daal that came with the dish. The hydrabadi dum biryani wasn't the greatest either, so I was disappointed. Overall, the experience was good. They have puzzle games on the table that you can play while you wait which was an interesting touch for sure. If you are planning a visit, definitely expect longer wait times for dinner because by 9/10 pm, the place had a long line up. read more

We have been to bawarchi before and hearing there is a new restaurant at this place made us hungry. We went there on a Sunday afternoon at around 3 the restaurant was packed even at that time. We were a big group we ordered the karivepaku corn and gobi Manchuria for veg and chicken 65,karampodi chicken and chicken 555. The gobi Manchuria was okay not too great the gobi peices were quite soggy. The karivepaku corn was the worse dish of our lunch. It was called karivepaku corn and there was no kapivepaku or any flavour in it. The chicken 65 chicken was okay but It was deep fried and was dry we should have ordered wet rather than dry. The chicken 555 was amazing it had great taste and nice flavour. The karampodi chicken was not any different from chicken 555 except that it was a little more spicier so that was good too. For the main course we ordered pachimirchi kodi biryani,chicken dum biryani,mutton dum biryani,gongura veg biryani. The gongura veg biryani was very average side it was spicy but no other exciting flavours other than that. The mutton biryani was the best biryani of all as it was great with a great quantity of masala to the rice and had great and authentic flavour to it. The chicken on the other side was bland no masala and made us regret ordering chicken. The pachimirchi kodi was the best dish of our lunch as the chicken peices were marinated in green chilli paste and held the flavour amazingly. This is my personal favourite. We also ordered a chicken fried rice which was disappointing as it was oozing with oil. Finally after a heavy lunch we decided to order Gulab jamun. While we were doing so the waitress advices us to try Shahi tukda as it is a best seller. The shahi tukda was very very bad as it was bread deep fried and was supposed to blend with rabdi but it was the opposite,bread with lots of ghee and rabdi on top. This was a big no no and quite disappointing for all of us. The gulab jamun which we had least expectations for was more than good and soft. Will definitely try it again. read more

The restaurant is located at a convenient place on Warden. There is parking onsite but it's limited and can easily get filled up, thanks to the other pub eatery nearby. I think there are more parking spots behind and to the side of the building. We came in during the covid phase 2 lockdown and it was take out only. However the interiors looked great even while we were waiting for pickup. The pickup queue on a Friday evening is a mess. It's unorganized chaos. There is a huge line up of both private parties and Uber pickups waiting to get their order. They just pile up every delivery up on the front table and use your first name to find the order. I wish they could come up with some better ordering and identification scheme like your phone number rather than the first name. There were already people complaining their order was missing or not the right one. Anyways, after sorting out the mess and coming home the Biriyani looked great. Taste was alright but still missing something. May be I should have ordered a different Biriyani that had meat pieces in it. When it comes to Biriyani, the best place I have known is Silver spoon. Can't beat that. May be we will try to come back here to dine in and try some other dishes when the world gets back on its tracks. read more

Another 50 minutes to serve the order in 3 installments after repeated reminders. I don't even want to describe the quality and taste of the food. THIS PLACE HAS LOST ITS CHARM. The staff is super rude and they respond with lot of attitude. Especially person at the counter is rude to the core, even when we ask whether they have chicken biryani available she responded with an attitude "we don't have it". This happened to us for the second time. EVEN THOUGH FOOD IS GOOD BUT WITH RUDE STAFF THIS PLACE IS THE WORST. We called them back to complain and were told that they don't offer complementary rice through Uber Eats. However there was no mention of this anywhere during our order and it didn't prompt us to add rice to our order. I would give 0 star, if I could, for the service we received. I am giving 1 star just because we loved the food. We were a family of 6 and we specifically asked the waitress to bring all the food together so we could enjoy as a family. But again, they brought two items 10 mins after we ordered and we had to wait for more than 40 mins for the rest. My mother and daughters got their orders 30 mins after we finished with ours! We would definitely understand the delay if the restaurant was busy. But there were only 3 other customers besides us and we were the first one to be served right after the restaurant opened at 11am. No water refill, no napkins, very late service and 18% gratuity charged on top of that. The waitress even insisted that gratuity doesn't include Tips and we have to leave extra Tips separately! The food is ok but you NEVER get the naan you pay for. Their receipt doesn't show what you order, just the total. When you show that it equals extra naan order they say they didn't include it in the order even though they repeat the order when you give it and they included it. I just experienced this for the third time and it's now my last. As I said, the food is OK (nothing special compared to other places) but don't expect your naan. read more

Tried it for the first time for take out. We felt it was very disorganized. Waited about a half hour for our food. During that time we watch bags of food just sitting out in a table in front of us waiting for pick up and frankly anyone could have taken them. They were ignoring the fact that people were not wearing masks when they entered until we asked if that was not the policy. They gave us an order of something we didn't order. The order of butter chicken had 4 little cubes of chicken in it.....which can not possibly be a normal order is it? Rest of the food was decent.
