I already have a favorite place for tacos in Baltimore City. I even have a preferred go-to for margaritas and elevated Mexican cuisine. A tray of nachos and a burrito from Charro Negro have convinced me I've found my spot for everything else. The nachos (I ordered mine with chorizo) were the best nachos I've had in a loooooooong time. The tortilla chips tasted fresh. Toppings included smooth black beans, two types of cheese, jalapenos, and pickled carrots. The pico de gallo and guacamole were packed separately, I suppose to keep things fresh, which I appreciate. I've spotted the food truck for Charro Negro around Patterson Park but never had an opportunity to stop and try something. I'm SO GLAD I finally made it to the brick and mortar. Just ordered dinner from UberEats. It's rare for me to write a review moments after an experience but when it does happen, it's either horrible or amazing. Today I'm grateful it was the latter. I wanted authentic tacos, nothing fancy necessary. Once I saw they also had elote, I knew this was a total win. Ordered 3 carnitas (pork) tacos and an ear of corn. I was a little sad to see no grill marks on the elote but it didn't matter once I bit into it. It was super fresh, crisp and juicy. It would have been a good ear of corn without the adornments but the mayo, cheese and spice made it amazing. The tacos came with typical ingredients (onions and cilantro with limes and cucumbers on the side). All taco ingredients, including the tortilla and meat were fresh. I was also sad to see the negative reviews, because my friend and I came after a walk, after being successfully enticed by the smells of grilled meats. I ordered one chicken and one steak street taco and they were delicious--super simple, and came with yummy, spicy salsa verde. I especially liked the steak, it was well seasoned with the perfect amount of char. We both also got elotes and they were so good! I never wanted my corn to end. Juicy and perfectly spiced and cheese-d. As I bit into it, I commented, "the best food is the messiest," and the elote is a testament. So worth it. I stand by this fact (chicken wings, BBQ, funnel cake, burritos, tacos, elote, etc.). Definitely give it a shot if you're walking through Patterson Park. I couldn't let National Hispanic Heritage Month end without reviewing one of my new favorite new local spots! I've been in my new home 6 months now and have ordered from Charro Negro thrice! AND, the food truck came to my subdivision so I guess....... that makes 4! Needless to say, I like it! My go to has been the chicken quesadilla. However, I did opt for the barbacoa tacos last night. It's all good! The quesadilla comes with the sauce/chili of your choosing, the freshest sour cream, and some lettuce. It's on the big tortilla, not the small one. Yay! It is also very filling so I'll eat half one night and the rest the next day. Let's talk about their beans and rice. They are delicious! The beans are black beans and taste BEST when mixed with the perfectly cooked Spanish rice. The tacos come on corn tortilla, but they're soft, not fried. I like the tacos as they're very flavorful. However, I prefer a lightly fried tortilla so the taco doesn't fall apart when trying to eat it. The barbacoa is seasoned with cilantro and it's perfect. They also throw in a few cucumbers which, surprisingly, go perfect with the tacos. They'll also add the 'dipping sauce' if you ask. My girlfriend always get the beef tacos and she scarfs them down. I take that as a sign that she thinks they're good. We also always order the chips with some pico de gallo and salsa. There is one that's very spicy....... we stay away from that one. The chips are thick but crispy (yes, it's possible). They're good sometimes and great others. I'll take it. It's my go to and I'll probably order plenty more times in the future. read more

My friends have also never been here, but we came around 6:30 pm on Memorial Day and were sitting on the park at 7:34 pm with no food. They ran out of a lot of food so we could only order tacos. My friend and I ordered shrimp tacos. She ordered chips and salsa and I order guacamole and salsa. 20 minutes later he tells us that he ran out of chips would we like our cash back. We said sure, and he gave us cash back $8 for her and $8 for me. Meanwhile he ripped me off for .50 (which isn't a big deal) but I was also charged about $1.75 tax and I paid $3 tips. So, he made a profit off what I didn't get to eat. The food: The shrimp tacos were good but the the corn tortillas were cheaper than what I'm used to and they broke apart verily easily. Went to the restaurant for the first time and it's definitely an authentic spot in Greek Town. We went around 7pm and opted for outside seating under their tent. We were the only ones out there as everyone was inside, which did have loud music playing and was more of a bar feel, so worked better outside so we could talk more easily. We got chips with salsa/guacamole to start. It was good, but unsure if the guacamole was homemade or not. Sadly no bottomless chips refills but it was the right amount for 2. Our waitress was nice but there was a bit of a language barrier, but we made it work! They brought out a portable heater to the outside area without us asking which was a nice touch. Been going there for years until recently a few unfortunate events happened, few times I ordered my usual and they messed up my orders and wouldn't change it to what I asked, I paid a few times with my bank card and 4 times I was charged double the amount on the check, I personally spoke with the owner and he told me that it was a charge from different days ) mind you it was the exact amount I paid the night before, the first time they returned my money the other three time he told me someone was stealing from me and to call my bank, when I'm the one that paid at the restaurant. I have never went into the bar, but I can say from eating there via delivery numerous times that the food is consistently great. Fair prices and big portions, and the flavor is always there. I have tried burritos,quesadillas, taquitos,enchiladas etc.. and have never been left disappointed or wanting more. I've never been here before, and there were no prices listed on the menu, so I purchased my old faithful: carnitas (pictured on the bottom) and Al pastor (pictured on top) tacos and chips and salsa. I'd seen their food truck on Eastern Avenue a number of times so I decided to give it a try for dinner one evening. The menu was simple so I went for a carnita burrito for myself and a tilapia burrito for my wife along with a side order of chips. Both burritos that we got were solid. Mine wasn't the best I ever had but it was very good and it was also enormous. With a side order of chips it was plenty to cut in half and save for a second meal. Recently a friend of mine took me here for lunch. It is a sports bar kind of place, but, at lunchtime, it is quiet and we very much appreciated the atmosphere. Our server was the most kind lady, and didn't let the language barrier impact our experience. She was wonderful! My friend ordered the black bean enchilada dish and loved it very much. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and just can't get over how delicious they are! The red salsa is very spicy. The green salsa is less spicy, but still spicy. We also ordered chips and guacamole, and it is the best guacamole I have found! She ordered the cheese enchiladas to take home, and I ordered the chicken to take home. Incredible. We both still talk about this place! (She would like me to add that the margaritas were also top-notch.) I went another time with another friend for lunch, and she had chorizo enchiladas, and I had a shrimp quesadilla. Again, the service is incredible, the food is fantastic, and the experience was wonderful. I very much enjoy this spot for lunch, and will certainly be back. The sampler tacos are not one of each flavor, but all mixed together, so the chorizo overrides all the other flavors. Chips and salsa received half a bag of chips (flavorless) for almost $5, the guac was bland, but OK. Salmon w garlic, I specifically asked for medium and the salmon was overcooked and I didn't eat it. The sauce FYI was good and spicy. Rice was also overcooked. Sodas for that price are ridiculous.
