I had a lovely time at the Papi's Tacos of Fells Point! I ordered a traditional margarita with a spicy salty rim, YUM! And I also ordered 2 tacos (1 extra for Taco Tuesday free) of Gringo Style veggie tacos. The queso topping on the tacos was so delicious! I am pleasantly surprised to see they have a $5 frozen margarita special as a way to beat the heat. Well that was surely refreshing! Service was fast and smooth, our server was kind and funny and welcoming. Overall, this taco spot is a great place to gather with friends and have a laughing good time! Can't wait to return again for a taco Tuesday with the girlies !

Papi's Tacos is a solid choice in the Fells Point neighborhood if you're craving casual Mexican street food. I try to take advantage of their happy hours. One thing I love about Baltimore in general is that most bars/restaurants offer a decent food menu with deals during their happy hour, in addition to drinks of course. The service I've received here has always been solid, no complaints. I would say this location is a bit unique in that the left side is your typical bar seating and the right side is more of your dining room seating for larger groups. My go-tos are the gringo's tacos, the birria tacos and their chips and salsa.

Overall papi's tacos is a cute vibe for a relaxed dinner with friends. The drinks are tasty - I had a spicy margarita. The food is just ok. We ordered the yuca fries and house guac to start. The house guac was a bit underwhelming as it seemed to just be mashed avocado (with a large piece of unmasked avocado too). The yuca fries were probably the best thing I ate. As for the vegetarian tacos, they were quite dry and in need of some more flavor. The concept sounded delicious, but the fried components just made the whole thing bland. TLDR: a great place for drinks and maybe a skip for food

Papi's Tacos - oh boy. I understand the need for Americanized food - many people are not accustomed to certain foods and spices and are not comfortable diving straight into the authentic sources. However, The food served here needed that spirit to be fully manifested and embraced in the food they serve. The Birria tacos especially left a lot to be desired as the filling was minimal and the consommé was dilute. Birria tacos are one of the foods that definitely needs some TLC as not putting your best foot forward for these tacos a disservice to its status in the Mexican food arena. Aside from the tacos, the chips were fine - they definitely know how to make a white Queso dip. It's plenty cheesy, flavor packed, and rich. Overall, it's Papi's Tacos is the place you go to for a casual Mexican food experience when other places are just too inconvenient to go to.

LISTEN! We just searched happy hours in Baltimore and Papi's Tacos popped up ... you literally NEVER think about Mexican when in Baltimore because Baltimore is all about crabs and seafood but the reviews were great so we said LET's DO IT! And MAAAAAAAAN are we glad we did! Service, to ambiance to food .... all 100!!!! And this is us sitting at the BAR!!!! And the happy hour menu is a reduced price menu .... this was heaven sent! We honestly said we wish we could run our entire order back so we could eat it again ... that's how GREAT everything was! Do yourself a favor and stop in for happy hour or for breakfast, lunch or dinner because either way you'll be happy you did!!!! Oh and the bartenders are AWESOME!

My friend and I came here as a last minute option because we wanted sangrias and saw Papi's Tacos had them. I hadn't been back here since prior to Covid so it was good to check it out again. We sat indoors as it was a pretty windy day out. To start, we got their sangrias (red option only). They came out foamy which was weird and it tasted fine at the beginning. It did get watered down quickly and tasted too lemony later (there were lemons in the sangria). Not the best sangrias here from our experience. We decided to share their Guac to start and were brought out fresh tortilla chips with salsa as well (the chips and salsa are complimentary to the meal which is nice). The guac was huge and had great flavors - it was delicious and we loved it. We each chose to get the street tacos and share them - I ordered the cod that they had that day while my friend got the chorizo. Since it was Tuesday, they have a taco special which gives you a 3rd free per your 2 taco order (they come 2 per order)! My cod was fried well but in general, there wasn't much flavor to it. The chorizo was super dry and didn't taste that good at all. It was disappointing our tacos weren't all that good or flavorful. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Their specials and prices are quite good but not much to rave about the food or drinks we had. The only thing we really liked were the chips and guac. It may be some time before I decide to come over here again.

We ate at the bar and the place is comfortable, the bartender was nice and fast, and the food was great. The house margarita was tasty and well done also. 20% gratuity is included in all done in meals. My wife was happy to hear Bad Bunny playing throughout our meal. She is sitting next to me making sure I mention that lol.

No bartender in sight, no other patrons, no background noise. For a moment, we genuinely wondered if we were in the right place. The bar is down a flight of stairs, tucked into the basement, and it's notable because it's Fells Point's only and possibly first basement bar, which already gives it serious character points. We waited near the bar for a few minutes, heard nothing, saw no one, and eventually started heading back up the stairs to leave. That's when Steve, the bartender, literally came after usnot in a weird way, but in a very human, "Hey! Sorry about that, I was in the stock room come back in!" way. And honestly? From that moment on, the experience completely flipped. Steve was phenomenal. Friendly, welcoming, deeply knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the place. He's worked there for 18 years, and once we sat down, he turned the bar into a living history lesson. He shared stories about Fells Point, Baltimore, Edgar Allan Poe, the building itself, and all the ghost stories tied to the space. He also told us about the celebrities who've passed through, including the fun detail that Blake Shelton once sat in the very bar stool I was sitting in and ordered a Bullet bourbon. Naturally, that kind of trivia just adds to the charm. Drink-wise, I ordered an Angry Orchard, and my friend had a single Tito's with cranberry and soda water. Our total was $26.16, which feels pretty standard for Baltimore definitely not cheap, but not shocking either. The bar itself is small, intimate, and packed with atmosphere exposed brick, low ceilings, and that cozy, historic, slightly haunted vibe you hope for in a basement bar. It's also connected to The William Fell Inn hotel through a separate entrance, which makes it feel like a hidden secret rather than a tourist stop. We loved the history, the stories, the ghosts, the setting and especially Steve. Being the only patrons that night was actually a gift, because it let us really soak it all in. That said, we're absolutely planning to come back on a busy night to see how the energy shifts when it's full. If you love historic bars, good storytelling, and places that feel like they've seen things Anchor Bar is a must. ‍

I also loved the décor; the bar has a fun Latin-inspired vibe that I really enjoyed. You can even order food from Fuzzies, the food truck, and the dill pickle fries were especially good. The only downside worth mentioning is the restrooms. They need some serious attention, as they looked a bit rundown and weren't very clean when we visited at 5 pm, even though the bar was fairly quiet.
