Northwest Home Care is a poorly run company with inadequately trained caregivers. Communication is…read morepoor with clients and internally. The few good aides do not make up for how bad this business is and how incompetent and unprofessional the other aides are. An example, one morning my mother slipped to the floor at 5:00 a.m. The aide could not lift her and did not call for assistance. She did not call me, nor the paramedics, nor my private aide who lives close by and always assists when someone needs help. The woman waited until the next aide (private) came on at 8 a.m. My mother had lain there on the cold hard floor for three hours soaked in her own urine. The woman didn't even put a clean Depends on her or clean clothes! My mom was a wreck for 2 days. Many aides were always late for their shifts. Several times aides just never showed up. The company was not always able to find a replacement, so we had to scramble to find someone and pay for her out of our own pockets, when my mother is entitled to those hours through her CCCI services! One evening a couple of months ago, I let one overnight aide know that we do have a gait belt, to make transfers easier. She told me she didn't know what one was, let alone how to use it! When I told her supervisor, she replied that one of my private aides could train her agency aides on how to use the belt if I wanted. The website says "trained" staff; trained at what?!? Then I was told that the agency has a gait belt video from the state and the aide in question had it. When that aide returned a few weeks later (after I had requested that she not come back), I mentioned the video to her. She replied that she never had it. So who is telling the truth? Now they have dropped my mother's case, clearly because they keep messing up and don't like my complaints and requests. They try to paint my mother as more difficult, while the private aides say the opposite. Hmm.... I could go on and on. If you want your loved one properly taken care of and treated with respect and dignity, do not use Northwest/AB Home Care. You will have nothing but headaches. They do not care about their clients; it is clearly just a business to them. D. Frauenhofer
