We were downtown and hitting a couple spots, and I was mentioning to my friend that lives locally about her response and it came right at the same exact moment that we were passing the cemetery and she pointed it out, so we quickly stopped and backed up and parked, and took a venture inside, mainly to see the girl that was buried in a barrel of rum, holy cow when you see the age of some of these graves and realize how extremely old they are, and you really quickly getting a sense of the magnitude of the history of the place. It is well worth your time to visit and explore.

Plan to spend around 30 minutes here , maybe longer if you take your time to read the tombstones . It's a well kept graveyard but be sure to watch your step as the terrain is uneven in some areas . If you really want to learn more about the town's oldest graveyard , you can take a tour offered by the Beaufort Historical Association . Go to the website or visit the Beaufort Historical Center on Turner Street for more info . It's a peaceful final resting place for hundreds of notable people , soldiers , seaman and most notably , the Rum Girl .

My daughter, two young granddaughters, and I went to the beach for a short trip away. We checked…read moreinto the Caribbean Inn, after seeing great reviews online. We were able to check in earlier than the 3pm time given online. The girls and I went into the cutest room with whales painted on the walls above painted waves. We chose a double bed room. There were two beds, a small wooden table with two chairs, another wooden bench, a dresser, small fridge, and microwave. There is a vanity with a large mirror, and a tiny bathroom with a shower/tub and toilet. The room was clean, and very neat. We had plenty of towels, as well as extra blankets for each bed. The air conditioning was working great! This hotel has two different picnic/outdoor seating areas. One is outside the area where most of the rooms are. The other outdoor area is down at the other end of the property. They had chairs, picnic tables, a grill, and even bbq tools ready to be used. The girls played with beach balls, and we were able to just sit back and relax. Their hotel also has boat slips in a little gut out back. If you choose to bring your boat, they're ready for you! The lady/owner got us into our room and was so nice. She explained the layout, and rules of the hotel. (No pets, no smoking, quiet time began at 10pm). She was so sweet. This is definitely a family-run business and is geared toward families. There is beach access directly across the road, but we took the short drive down to the Fort Macon beach area. The Caribbe Inn is close to the Morehead bridge, many restaurants, stores, beach shops, and other places you might need while at the beach. We had such a nice stay, and enjoyed our time away. We girls ate out, played on the beach, slept very well at night, and had a great stay at the Caribbe Inn! We will be back!

Lisa sewn on a patch (with whatever you wish it to say) that said, "I'll always be with you". My husband and mother-in-law were in tears. Absolutely PERFECT!

I think the Marlins should consider rethinking their pricing strategy. People in eastern NC can't afford to spend so much at the ballpark. A family of four would drop nearly $60 on admission alone. Factoring in concessions, it's around $100 per game! Tickets in the single digits are what people expect for some summer ball. At this rate, I think a lot of parents are only going to take their kids to a game once or twice a season. Concessions: I think the $6 draft beers are in line with the market so I didn't mind that. The all you can eat game ticket is innovative but consider making the food options more vegetarian friendly. Throw some pizza, popcorn, nachos onto the buffet. Compared to Buck Hardee Field in Wilmington, I didn't think Big Rock Stadium had too much going on. Seems like the Sharks have a bit more to do off the field at their games. I think the MC Pauly B on the M.I.C. is the real MVP and deserves a raise from whatever he's making.
