Black and mahi-mahi with mango salsa, coconut, jasmine rice, and mixed vegetables.
Cheryl Isabella K.

Clawson's used to be a post office and I like the way that they kept the service windows, scales and other things that now are just memories of the past. This restaurant was busy, however we could still carry on conversations and hear each other from across the table. This is definitely a nice place for a casual date night or an evening out with your family. I ordered the crabcake sandwich. My boyfriend had the mahi-mahi and my son ordered the fish and chips. The portions were a very good size and we were grateful that we had not ordered starters. Never have I ever seen so much food on a fish and chips platter. My crabcake sandwich was very good. The sandwich was so flavorful due to the mixed greens tomato slices and remoulade sauce. My boyfriend really liked the mahi-mahi with the mango salsa, coconut, jasmine rice, and steamed vegetables. Has came with thinly sliced carrots and string beans. My son had the fish and chips.... Really fish and chips. This is the first time I've ever been somewhere where they don't give you fish and french fries.

Highlights: Good service and restaurant is in a cool historic building that has been around since 1890 something. Fried potato chip appetizer and ranch. Not so good: crabcake! Would try other places in the area if wanting crabcakes!

Incredible. Our server, Wayne, was great. Lots of fun, very attentive, and had great suggestions. Ask for his section! Started with the seafood bisque. Sometimes it can be "too fishy", but this was creamy perfection. Followed that with the lightest, most perfect onion rings on the planet. The breading is light and crispy...perfect ratio to onion. Next we had buffalo wings. They are small wings, but the meat is fantastic. Sauce was buffalo...but not your standard wing sauce. We detected a little honey or sweetness. So good. Then we split the fried chicken sandwich and fries. Again with the light, perfect breading! Fries can sometimes be meh, but these were outstanding. To round out our indulgent lunch, we had the mud pie dessert. Rich and delicious...something to split for sure. The ambiance was very cool. Manager popped by a time or two to make sure our meal was great. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Summer Salad minus the shrimp that was ordered

Should have known something was up when every restaurant in town had a 20 minute wait and here we were able to get a table immediately. people working here were very nice. It was the food I had an issue with. Located across from the waterfront in downtown Beaufort, Clawson's is the most famous restaurant in town and has been around forever. We ordered two bowls of Clam Chowder and a Summer Fruit Salad with a side of grilled shrimp. Unfortunately, both bowls of soup were served cold--completely inedible. My husband and I moved them to the side of the table, and when the waitress came by to check on us, we let her know. She was polite and insisted on bringing us "fresh" bowls. A few minutes later, the same exact bowls were returned--and not even reheated. It was quite obvious they didn't care. At that point, we didn't bother eating them. When the salad arrived, it was missing the shrimp. Half way through the salad a plate with 4 small grilled shrimp was bright to the table. As an $11 add on, those 4 shrimp were grilled but most likely frozen from a bag and not fresh considering it's a town famous for fresh shrimp and oysters. It's disappointing when something like this goes wrong.

The Reuben

I ordered the Reuben sandwich with homemade chips and my husband had the burger and fries. Both were delicious! The atmosphere is casual. The service was great.

Went for some heavy snacks at lunchtime. We hit the Server Lottery! Deb was super friendly, chatty, knowledgeable about the menu and really, really took good care of us (as we did of her). Located in a historic building with a great interior and vibe. We had the hot crab dip and the fried calamari. Both were generous portions and very good! Although the calamari only come with a remoulade sauce Deb also brough two other sauces she thought we would like (and she was correct - all good). Deb also recommended the down east style clam chowder but I was too full - so without asking she brought out a sample for me. It was great and well worth a try! Don't miss this great spot right on Front Street and across from the riverwalk. ASK FOR DEB!!! You won't be sorry.

Fish batter pulled away from the fish, undercooked on the inside

The food (fish and chips, substituted fries for kettle chips) was hot and plentiful. The fries were very good, the fish disappointing. The batter was very thick, cooked on the outside (almost burnt), but wet, gummy and underdone on the inside, pulling away from scant actual fish. Suspect too much batter and overly hot oil. The service was very good. I would try the restaurant again, but avoid this dish. Old pub style restaurant ambiance.

Shrimp Scampi

Man, we keep coming back and getting let down. Service wasn't quite as great this time and the food we ordered (scampi and shrimp and grits) was just not very impressive. We would not order it again. Some of my family tried some of the apps and did enjoy those, especially the cheese fries. We probably will just stick to fried shrimp if we come back.

The food was absolutely amazing!!! The service was just splendid our waiter, Wayne, was very kind and helpful and had a killer mustache. The environment was like a fancier Cracker Barrel with all sorts of old tools and items from the 1900s. Me and my family loved this place 10/10

Beans, pulled pork sandwich and peaches n cream beer
Jenny D.

Went with a small group of friends for early ish dinner and it was very quiet, not too busy and the waiter was really nice. The price was kinda average. We also got onion rings but the batter was a bit strange and flakey instead of breaded. The beers they have are neat. They are from a local brewery nearby and the peaches and cream one was pretty good and smelled so floral and sweet. For an area with only seafood and hamburgers it was nice to be able to have something a little different

Lots of really good options, as well as flights. I do like that you can get a taster, half pint, or full pint. They also have to go cans. I did not appreciate that they use only plastic cups, especially being so close to the beach. They are dog friendly.

I love that's what happened here, and the building is now infinitely better for it. This was a good stop for us as we passed a little time before needing to leave for the next ferry to Minnesott beach. There's a good selection of house brews, and even though I got to try one of them, I was pleased with it. Right now, I cannot recall the name of it, which in unfortunate. Now, the great part about this being a converted wings is also offset by the fact... it's a converted wings. It was pretty warm in there and im sure that has a lot to do with the large frontal glass and the greenhouse effect. I'd consider a big tint job if I were them. There was an area to the right where you could kick back a little as opposed to just posting up on some stools, and there was also a small area around back if you wanted to be outside. The back area is very basic, but really, i cant imagine you come here to sit outside. If you want to do that, get some beers to go and go sit on the beach! Overall, I need to come back and try a few more things, but I would definitely return. Great place in Atlantic beach to have a drink!
