I walked in to at least three other chase banks trying to get help...!No luck, always excuses Hugo, the manager, was very accommodating!!! I've been on the phone for three days trying to set up and appointment with no luck. I finally got through while I was in the parking lot! Hugo said there was no banker there currently, this was the case with at least four different banks. He got on the phone and began navigating the process to help me with a business account going up and beyond the call of duty. Very professional a true people person. If I was the CEO on undercover boss He would be an ideal candidate to move up the ranks spend the money on training and college! I then would go back and show the video of other bankers playing on their phones Google searching shopping etc. and telling me they were too busy and did not have time fire all of them. The guy helping us spelled my name incorrectly on the account even though I gave him my ID and a credit card. So they won't fix it over the phone, I have to go into the branch with my ID AGAIN so they can make yet another copy before giving me a replacement!!! Stay away from Chase entirely- they're a nightmare. This is not my mistake and I'm not going back to fix their mistake. They already have my info, this is an easy fix!!!! Avoid banking with these folks. Me? I'm there before opening to close my safe deposit box. I'm waiting outside, on one of the social distancing spots, when one of the bankers - not a teller - opens the door. I ask if I should continue to wait until 9am when the bank actually opens. She says, "no, come in, we can help you". So, I walk up to the teller window and tell this second person that I want to close my safe deposit box - I note the time - 8:47am. She says that one of the bankers has to handle that, and please wait in the waiting area. They've been kind enough to remove ALL of the furniture in the area, so I'm standing. I see the teller walk over to the banker who starts shaking her head before the teller even gets there. After their conversation, the teller, who is very helpful, says that I'll need to wait for a few minutes, the banker has a client appointment and that another banker comes in at 9am. I say no problem, of course - it's now 8:51am. At 8:55am, the second banker enters. Walks into a wall office, looks at me waiting, immediately breaks her gaze, and walks over to a cubicle and sits down. I can see her surfing the web. At 9am, a third banker walks in. Goes into the Preferred Client office, walks out 2 minutes later. Asks me if I need assistance. "I'm here to close my safe deposit box". Banker 1 - on her computer, no client has shown up. Banker 2 - still surfing the web. Banker 3? Smiles, nods, walks right past me and sits down in another wall office. It's now 9:03am. I wait. I wait a little more. I wait a lot more. At 9:17am, I walk up to the teller area and say that I don't understand - there have been two more bankers that have arrived, one that is surfing the web, the other who ignored me, and the original banker is still waiting fo a client that was supposed to show at 9am. "Closing a safe deposit box should take 5 minutes - what is the deal here? "Sir, we can take your information and set up an appointment..." "Why do I need an appointment when there are three people here to help me, and none of them are doing it - these are walk-in hours, correct?" "Yes" "Then I will just get my stuff out of the box and mail the keys here." "We may need you to sign documents, that's why an appointment will be necessary." "I'm sorry, you'll have to creatively solve the problem, because I have already presented myself to close my box, and I won't be back." In short, these entitled bankers have a serious. complete lack of customer focus. It's probably ruined my opinion of Chase forever. If I could give Chase a minus then I certainly would. I have been with Chase for over 30 yrs now and without warning they denied me access to my account. They are supposed to notify a customer either by mail, alert or email when they suspend or block access to accounts and give a written description of why. That was never done. The reasons verbally explained to me did not really make sense and were never fully explained. Basically I was told that my account had some "suspicious activity". Then I was told they were closing my account. I was not given access to my funds and they blocked my auto pays and blocked my direct deposits. This is financially devastating to me and has created a tremendous hardship but I guess that's what happens to their loyal customers. I have my mortgage with Chase as well as credit cards and financial investments. What a HUGE disappointment. I am more than angry!! read more

Great location. The parking lot gets a lot of visits to the two ATM's outside. Inside, the lines go nice and quick. The staff is friendly and know enough about banking that I have yet to have any reason to complain. The only error they made was on my birth day. I had an account with a previous bank --this location has changed names three times now-- that did not need a birth day. When the subject came up, I discovered that they used 01-01-1901 for a default. They easily took 50 years off my age. We had a good chuckle about it. It is a good bank. read more

At first I had an unpleasant experience with an agent - granted they were short staffed and swamped but I thought possibly a lack of efficiency on the part of the agent caused me an unnecessary waiting period. Behold, out comes the manager and she talks with us and explains the difficulty of their workload and took it upon herself to handle my situation and quickly resolved it. Their parking lot is jacked up due to lazy paint job follow up when they made the disabled spot the furthest possible spot from the door and didn't paint over the other no parking signs. But the staff is efficient and pleasant. The lobby is poorly lit and I'm pretty sure that encourages bank robberies so I'll avoid this branch whenever possible. read more

To Chase and beware depositors- We work hard for our money Chase work hard to obtain charges The transaction that caused overdraft was still pending and when I deposited more than the deficit the receipt showed a positive balance. But Chase tricked by listing ahead the bigger amount that caused deficit and added the two 3-day older small transactions making 3 penalties. Called the bank to complain , took long to get through. Finally a woman answered how can she help me and after routinary interrogation I narrated my story and not even halfway I was told to come to the bank personally. Not related to Capitola Chase, but I couldn't find anywhere to leave an evaluation for their mortgage folks. I am a current and long time customer of Chase. I called today to see if there was someone that could notarize a paper for me. The lady, and I wish I could remember her name, asked me for the number on my card. I gave her the number on my debit/atm card. She said no they could not do the notary, they just did it for Chase Preferred , bla bla bla and proceeded to tell me to go to UPS. I said I would just go to another branch. Which I did. I went to the Aptos Branch and the people there were wonderful. Todd did the notary and was super nice about it. What a difference in the two branches. Surprised 41st. keeps their customers.
