The fact you can't use the ATM is ridiculous other branches allow you to use the ATM even when closed

Don't bank with Chase. They sneak in over draft fees without your consent as well that they lie. Transactions stay pending for days making it confusing and frustrating not knowing what's your actual balance. I would be banking with someone else because of this. read more

We came in to do a name change on our bank account through the teller and they told us we had to talk to a representative, so we scheduled an appointment to talk to someone the following day at 4:30. Turns out when I get there we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to free up. Kind of defeats the purpose of an appointment when you have to wait so long. I have been banking with chase for about 4 years now. I have never really had any problems with them. Most of my transactions are done through outside drive thru a.t.m. there is 2 on site. If you get off to a walk up a.t.m inside there is 3. They also have 2 a.t.m inside by the tellers that are only accessible when the bank is open. At those you can withdraw up to 10k. This location usually has a handful of tellers helping out with customers at their desks and 2 tellers with transactions. There is plenty of parking but late Thursday-Saturday the parking is always full. There is street parking on the Garvey side. Coffee is available inside. read more

I arrive about five minutes before the bank opens which is no big deal. There is a little lobby area next to the ATM machine which smell like urine. It was a strong and distinct odor so I'm not sure if they let this area open at night for people to sleep but it smelled so bad that I had to wait outside until the bank open. I walk back in at 9 am and the bank is still not open. There are two cashiers and now a long line is forming behind me. I don't understand what's the big issue when asked for a box to put in your change when exchanging a big amount of money into coins. They should know that in any case if the customer can't carry all of the coins, the least they can do is ask if you would like a box or even offer a bag to carry all your coins. I've been coming here for years now and I've put up with their unwelcoming attitude. Today's the day where I just had enough. A lot of their staff has come and went and I do see new faces and yet your staff customer service skills is not up to par. Since the new machines came there's a huge line to the middle of the building because there are now less bankers at the front. In addition, no one helps direct the line and let customers know that they use the machines when it is open, so we're all waiting in line wondering who needs the machine and who needs the banker. Manager was standing around doing anything but directing, and a man behind me got angry and let her know what a bad job she was doing (a bit rude I know, but kinda understandable) and she gave attitude right back. I have tried to get cash out to the ATMs at this location about 5 times in the last two weeks, and I was only able to get cash once. I needed the cash from my account in order to do several urgent payments and purchases, and I have been very busy lately with work, and so I wasted more than an hour going back and forth from home to this location, and I'm frustrated with the ATMs not having cash or being out of order. I would say this has never been a problem for me before at a chase bank, and so I don't know why this location is below standard for a chase bank. read more

I can't believe what did I just experienced. I went to the Chase bank at this location to make a payment of my credit card. I filled out a payment form with my name, date, and account number, but no an amount. I have quite a bit of check and cash combing, so I want the staff double check the amount. This is our conversation: Staff: hi, how can I help you? I: making a credit card payment. Staff: I need your ID. I: No problem. ( hand her my ID) Staff: what is this?! You didn't fill out anything I: huh.... payment, I am making a payment for credit card. Staff: all those checks and cash are going to credit card?! ( with her fingers flipped over my checks and cash) I: yes, is that a problem? Staff: no, but you didn't fill out anything! I: I usually fill out my name and account number, the bank will help me to verify the amount. Staff: No! You need to fill out everything, step on the side and do that. I have a lot of people stand on the line, and need to move the line! I have never been this branch before, and I will never go again. First, it is part of your duty to help customers complete the form. Second, it is not my concern that you have a lot of people stand on the line, we are dealing with money here, I should able to spend enough time as I needed. I have never been treated this way at Chase bank. Chase bank is a very pride bank and picks his clients very carefully. If I could give a negative number rating I would. A week ago I go in to close an account and I kept getting referred to go on line or call in. I'm in the bank!!! Let's try some good old fashion stellar customer service but it's a foreign thing to them apparently. I finally convinced them to help me in person. The lack of people skills is horrible. Then I asked to exchange money to Japanese yen. I was told it would be a few days and I would receive a call when it was ready. TODAY I receive a call that the money I was waiting for is being sent back!!!! WTH what happen to my call??? The message gives me a number that takes me in circles and when I do get a person on I'm told they can not help me??? Really. I'm at work during their bank hours so I actually have to do some coordinating so the call when the money arrived was important. Now looks like I'm out of the Japanese yen that was needed for a trip. Horrible horrible horrible service. Now I remember why I opened an account at the credit union I had forgot how much chase service is lacking. Worst customer service starting by the teller Francia Amaro and continuing with the manager who refused to provide me with her name. I went to El Monte branch to buy Indian Rupee and 3 times I told the teller that I wanted Indian rupee. Instead of asking the manager why the Indian rupee was not listed on the Chase's list of foreign currency, she decided to give me Mauritius rupee. Two days later, when I went to the branch to pick up the currency and told the manager that the teller made a mistake, she asked me to return later and when I did, she told me that she "confirmed with the teller that she confirmed with me that I requested the wrong rupee". I am very disappointed, because I have been a Chase customer for so many years and the manager -as a manager- instead of making this issue work for both, the bank and myself, she put the blame on me. I felt so helpless and upset to the point that I will cancel my Chase account so I do not have to make any more business with Chase. read more

Out of the the Chase I've visited in El Monte, this one has got to be the best one. Lines never seem to be long at this particular Chase. I was here awhile ago to open a bank account. A gentleman by the name of Howard helped me and explained in details of everything I needed to know and what it was that Chase has to offer. Throughout the process, Howard wan't one of those types who just focused on doing whatever the customer needed and be done with. He was very talkative. I was hesitant about coming here thinking I had to wait and having to deal with a boring banker. About a week after I got my account, Howard personally call me to check up and see whether or not I like my account and if everything is ok. Everything here is good. This is the closest branch to me, only about a block away, but I really hate having to come into it when I need something more than a deposit or withdrawal which can be done at the ATMs. Like the other reviews have said, there is a huge line to the door with 1-2 tellers. There are 2 new machines by the tellers (which I'm assuming is the reason they cut back on tellers), but there's no clarification at all as to what they can actually help you with and is positioned in a way that you won't even see it until you're practically at a teller so I'm not even sure if you can go to it directly or have to wait in the line to use it. Aside from the tellers, there has only been at the most, 2 sit-down bankers helping people. As I write this, I've been waiting for a banker for about 45 minutes and when I wrote my name on the list, there were only 3 people ahead of me. To make matters worse, there is no one around to ask any questions at all. If you need to ask a chase employee about anything, you have to wait in a long line. I came in because I need a direct deposit form for my work. 2 years ago, I did the same thing for a different job and got the form from a teller at this branch. Therefore, I waited in the teller line for about 35 minutes only to be told that I couldn't be helped there and I had to write my name on the banker list and wait to be seen. Maybe some signs that state what kind of business can be dealt with at the different areas? I mean, this wouldn't be necessary if there was simply someone around that I could ask before getting in a line. Anyone. Walk into a Wells Fargo and you'll understand how helpful that would be. The only reason I am still here is because I need this direct deposit form. If there was another way to get this form other than coming into the branch, I would do it. Communication, clarification and preparedness is completely absent here. As I finish writing this review, my updated wait time is now 1 hour and 25 minutes. I need one form. And I'm not next. It's new and well placed. It's located off of Valley across from Pep Boys and Starbucks. I can't really give it a proper score because everything is so new and clean. But here's an FYI: Drive up ATM: Yes, it has 2 Walk up ATM: Yes, I'm sure I saw 2 but can't be so sure. First and last time coming to this Chase! The girl with the glasses in the front who takes your name was seriously the nicest and most polite person there. The personal banker was a rude girl, who's name I didn't get. They did nothing to try to resolve my problem, she just told me to go online and see if I can fix it there. I was the only one waiting for like 20 minute so I don't get why she didn't wanna take the time to help me out. Also the older looking girl working as a teller was rude too. She was too busy talking to the personal banker girl to even try and be nice to me. I ended up going to Wells Fargo where they gladly helped me open a new account. I really dislike posting a negative comments because I know how it feels to be a owner myself. However, when I visit my mother in El Monte I come in to this branch and I have the same horrible experience. I give this bank the benefit of the doubt by saying it will get better; but it doesn't. There's a bank teller by the name of Kimberly she probably thinks she's doing a good job but in reality she's makes my experience horrible she always I mean always has to check in with her manager for everything. If I deposit 100 checks or 1 checks it's always something that she has to confirm with her boss. I'm really considering switching my trust account because of her. If she was friendly or even somewhat good looking I would let it go but she doesn't even smile. She acts like her shit don't stink. The best chase banks I have experienced are in Redondo Beach where I live, West Covina by the mall, and especially the branch by valley mall! The Manager there is awesome! read more

I walked into this bank to open a joint checking account at about 5:30pm. We were waiting and about 5:45pm a banker comes up to us (who by the way seemed completely overwhelmed) and asks what we were there for. He tells us a joint checking account generally takes about 1hr-1.5hr to process. He stated he would speak to the other bankers and because it was close to closing time, maybe we could start the process and than come back another day. He proceeded to speak to the teller that was to our right side (Maria E. A.). They were speaking low for a bit, but then she had the audacity to say "We HAVE to help them, but I DONT WANT TO" I was shocked. I have been a manager in customer service before, for many years, and I would never allow my employees to speak in that manner. Worst of all, she said this while she had a client sitting at her desk with her. Believe me, I completely understand that we got there pretty late and I would have completely understood had they said if we could please make an appointment and come back, but for a banker to be completely rude. I cannot understand. We did not stay, I asked for the banker's name, and left. I will not be returning to this branch ever and if you want professional service, you will AVOID this branch altogether. Chase: if u want to keep clients, you need to have a conversation with your employees on how to provide customer service, especially to NEW incoming clients. read more

What a breath of fresh air! After my horrible experience at the Gawd awful Santa Fe Springs location I found myself in El Monte needing to do some banking. The staff was VERY nice , Helpful and even gave my child a lollipop ! Kudos to the team at the El Monte Chase bank!
