I chose 1st Bank because they have ATM's everywhere, they offer free checking and they're close to where I live. These days, I believe that getting good customer service is a crap shoot. This 1st Bank is the exception to that belief. I'm impressed with this bank because every person I've ever dealt with has been very friendly, prompt and accurate. They don't have the most updated technology (you still use deposit slips), but it's a small inconvenience when measured against the service this branch provides. I worked in a bank 25 years ago. Since then, service levels in banks has declined so incredibly. This 1st Bank branch reminds me of the branch I worked at a long time ago. It's very impressive to see a high level of service provided consistently.

I have started the process of divorcing myself from USAA (due to sheer ineptitude after the theft…read moreof my wallet) and opened accounts with Chase Bank today. I was very leery of the terrible google reviews for all Chase Bank branch locations within Colorado Springs. I did not want to get more hassles from this bank, after what I just went through with USAA. On a whim, I looked at the Castle Rock locations. There were 2 of them. The older location had the terrible reviews like the C Springs locations, but the newer location by the outlet malls had 1 review that was 5 out of 5 stars. Three people were mentioned by name in the review as being very helpful (Todd, Johnny, and Connie). Hmm, I decided I could drive up there and open the accounts. I called last Thursday to schedule an appointment, hoping to meet on Sat morning since I work during the week. The three people were not working on Sat. So, I decided to wait until Mon morning and take some time off work to do this. My meeting with Todd was set up for 9 am. I received a call back from Todd later that day, and he suggested that we meet at the Chase location on Baptist in Monument, so that I didn't have to drive to Castle Rock. Todd also lives in Monument. Todd talked to his manager Connie, and she approved the plan. Today was the appointment. Todd greeted me at the door, and we went into the bank. Todd talked briefly with the manager, who told him to use his desk. Todd went through the checklist of opening the accounts, and in the end everything was set up perfectly. A++ customer service !!! Thanks, Todd !! On a side note, the manager of the Baptist branch never came over to check on us, or to introduce himself to me. I believe they were short-staffed today, but I figured he/she could come over and say hi for just a minute. SO, if you are thinking about switching banks to have the instant text alerts for all your credit/debit cards, call the new Castle Rock branch and set up an appointment with Todd, Johnny, or Connie. These are the 3 individuals who had the great review before my dealings, and if Johnny and Connie are even half as customer-oriented as Todd was, they have probably the best Chase branch in the state.

Instead of being met with courtesy or helpfulness, the teller was rude, dismissive, and gave me noticeable attitude. There was no empathy or willingness to assist--just an unpleasant interaction that left me feeling unwelcome. As a loyal customer, I expect basic professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of that standard. I hope management addresses customer service at this branch so others don't have a similar experience.

DO NOT ASK ANYONE AT THE FIRSTBANK (Wads & Cole Mine) BECAUSE I HAVE DOCUMENTED PROOF OVER TIME THAT THEY DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER!!!...!!! The answer is common-sense based customer service and they will echo and preach this but THEY DO NOT PRACTICE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The other day, I was waiting in line to get new checks re-ordered because their vendor (Deluxe) screwed up my new account order... fine but this issue should have stopped there. Instead, it led to my cancelling of one account completely and two more are pending so I can RUN, not walk, AWAY FROM THIS HALF-ASSED BUSINESS! Teller JAMES recognized I was waiting and said to me, "I'll be right with you Sir. I just have to respond to an email." Fine, I continued to wait. James looked up at me several times in the next few moments and then I noticed he walked away from his desk, walked all the way back to the far end of the room, around the floor and then walked out the building, got in his car and left... I stood there, stunned and disrespected like never before. The front door agent, KAYSIE, noticed this and met me at the teller stations to help. I mentioned that James had said he was going to help me but decided to just leave instead and she dismissed the issue. She originally set the order for my new checks so I showed her the error and confused and/or completely disengaged, she shrugged and asked me what the problem was. The address the vendor sent these checks to was correct but the address on the (100) checks themselves was wrong; not even close to my address... I ask you, anyone, faced with this issue, what is the only rational and common-sense comment to offer to your customer? Exactly = offer to immediately re-order new checks that resolves this issue... What did Kaysie offer? = "... oh, just write over your address with your real address..." I refused and demanded new checks be created; needing to wait yet another 7-10 days... I left and logged into my online bank account to document the issue with James and his complete failure to offer any customer service when he should have. About 20 minutes later, STEPHANIE (branch manager) called me to discuss this issue. I offered that even if it was James' lunchtime, he certainly should have completed his role by taking my questions and helped resolve my issue or at least referred me to someone who could help so he could be dismissed without disrespecting me by literally sneaking away... What did manager Stephanie offer? = "... oh, actually it was James' lunchtime... but customer service is our top priority for our customers..." I immediately denied her claim and told her, "obviously that's not true! Don't you understand what just happened? James recognized me, told me he'd help me, and snuck away right in front of me... that IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE, not even close!" Again, Stephanie apologized and parroted, "... but customer service is our top priority for our customers." Like a goddamn robot...!?!?! She NEVER even addressed James' behavior...!!! Fed up with this whole day and previous issues with this bank not supporting my chargeback needs, not helping me to protect my money several times, exhausted, I stated, "Maybe when I cancel all of my accounts, maybe someone worth a damn at Firstbank will notice a big drop in accounts and decide maybe they hired too many crap employees to run this place!" Bottomline: do you want post-college aged punks and delusional supervisors/managers to manage your life savings?

Zing, formerly Denver Community Credit Union, has gone downhill in quality since becoming "Zing". I…read morewould have never agreed to let some company named "Zing" handle my money, it's an awful name and it seems to diminish my credibility immediately. in recent years since becoming "Zing", my mobile check depositing time has gone from about 24-48 hrs to 8-10 days inexplicably, after long hold times, customer service is generally unhelpful and very much having a "deal with it" attitude, and finally, worst of all, over 6 times did Zing charge me an overdraft fee, while also not covering the actual bill. So for example, ATT attempted to acquire payment for the monthly bill via autopay, and Zing charged me 3x for an overdraft fee and did not even pay the bill, only charging me nearly $100 in overdraft fees which is almost the cost of the phone bill itself, but the phone bill remained unpaid. When I called I was told that it was my fault and I needed to be more careful with my money. I attempted to speak with a bank supervisor regarding the issue and was told there were none available and that someone would call me back and no one ever did. If you are considering banking with Zing Credit Union, I would highly suggest rethinking and looking into other banks. I've been using banks since the early 2000s and I can comfortably say this is the worst experience I've ever had, even in comparison with Wells Fargo. Don't trust these people with your money, they do not have your best interest in mind, and appear to be doing classic shiesty bank stuff. Would rate Zero stars if I could. I will be changing banks by my next pay period. Edit: Having a manager telling me they can't find my account, although my initials and legal last name are on my profile, insinuating that I would be potentially making this all of this up and that I don't have an account? And the proposed solution is that I click on a generic website link for resolution is absurd. I will not be attempting to resolve this with Zing and this, in fact, solidifies my decision.

This is my second attempt at a credit union and I can already tell this is waaaaayyyyy better. But what, and who, really made it an incredible experience is Jeffrey B. He is kind, professional, personable and just amazing. He walked me through everything and let me know what was happening as it happened. And I spent my entire hour appointment with him, but it was a conversation that wasn't forced and it was a pleasure talking to him and having him help me. Oh, and did you know you can leave the branch WITH a card WITH YOUR name on it!?!?!?
