Beautiful location. This branch is located in the Fashion Island parking lot area near Whole Foods. There's ample parking, but could be difficult during peak hours, especially lunchtime. I came in yesterday to do a simple bank transaction. I received excellent customer service by the teller. She was very friendly and helpful. I didn't have any issues, whatsoever. I'm still old school, and I still need assistance with any banking needs with a person. Not easy, these days. For simple transactions, I would recommend this Chase branch location. read more

Terrible place to go. You would think it wouldn't be so hard to open an account but they make life difficult. Walked in trying to open two teen checking accounts. Spoke to the lady behind the desk who put us in the queue. Said it should only be 5 minutes. After waiting for 15 minutes, some other banker lady who isn't doing anything comes over and says that both her bankers are busy. Another one might come back in 15 minutes. Asks if we want to wait more? I said no thanks we will go to Bank of America. Not sure why they couldn't be upfront about the potential wait instead of making us wait for nothing. I have a relationship with chase and BofA. I'm going to move everything over to BofA now. Don't want my kids to start their financial relationships with a crappy bank like Chase. read more

There was no proper communication, no apology, and no respect for a long-standing banking relationship. Instead of de-escalating the issue, she made it worse through dismissive and unprofessional behavior. As a result, we have closed our accounts. It seem like everytime I take me and my girl to Fashion Island, we always stop at this Chase location. I am trying to get us practicing not to carry cash anymore. But in some cases in the world, everyone has to carry a little. Some places still have a rule of cash only. So we stopped here and took out little cash. Nice big location with lots of parking. The branch manager at Chase in Newport Beach Erica Olson, should not be in that position. Trying to mimic a "Newport attitude" while lacking basic professionalism is embarrassing. I issued a $34,000 check to a trade vendor. Chase returned it, claiming it was potentially fraudulent. They said they "called me" - which is completely false. I received no phone call, no voicemail, no email, and no text. Nothing. This is a long-standing trust account, and transactions of this size have been completely routine for many years. There was nothing unusual about it. I had to make a serious effort to resolve this issue in person - for very legitimate reasons - and instead of receiving an apology for their mistake, I was met with rudeness and arrogance. The branch manager (who appears to be new) showed zero appreciation for my long-term banking relationship. Instead, she teamed up with a new account representative named Nestor, and the two of them were unnecessarily difficult, dismissive, and unprofessional. This is not how you treat established clients. Chase should be more careful about who they hire to represent their brand in Newport Beach. You have lost not only my business, but my entire family's banking relationship as well. I also had found a pair of eye glasses in the parking lot after my visit and they gratefully took them into lost and found. Chase bank allowed someone else to open 2 fraudulent accounts in another state under my name with help of a bank employee (who is in on the fraud per admission of Fashion Island branch manager). The criminals were able to transfer $170,000 from my savings account to fraudulent accounts. I cought this within an hour and reported to Chase Fraud department. Chase employees are treating this as no big deal and no one is helping me to get my life savings back. Fraud department employees are incompetent, uncaring and unwilling to help. I have been with this bank over 10 years and I can not believe how they are treating me as a such major fraud victim. Do not keep even a penny here. Their processes allow for this type of fraud to proliferate and they have no system or desire in place to help fraud victims like myself. read more

Well, this is my new "home branch" of the little hometown, community bank known as J.P. Morgan/ Chase. This particular branch has to be one of the best performing Chase branches (on a per capita basis) of any Chase branch in the country...every time I drop by the bank, it looks like an exotic car show in the parking lot. If that's any measure, then I guess this bank, this branch is going to be OK for the Beautiful Carin and I. Banks are certainly going through some changes...they have come under fire (well deserved) for some of their business practices...still, you have to have a bank to handle your money (unless you're the smelly guy sleeping on the sidewalk on Balboa Peninsula when I went for my run on the beach the other day...I don't think he has a bank account). Some of those changes indicate that banks like Chase are trying, (at least in certain respects). Lately, I have noticed: * Greeters...this is disconcerting at first...it used to be that all I got when I visited my money was cold and suspicious glares, the third degree for a simple withdrawal, questions about the origins of deposits, the destinations of transfers...now it's "old home week" whenever I drop by! * Coffee, bottled water, cookies...Up until a few very short years ago, I could not have conceived of a regular bank branch offering me anything other than a line to stand in and a fish-eyed stare as explained my banking needs (not that it was bad thing...it motivated me to make enough money to have the "wealth management" group handle my banking...they were very nice). * Friendliness...Tellers, securities traders/managers, account managers, even the branch VP seem to be nice...accessible (I even had the branch VP personally set up an additional account for me the other day)...they can't do enough for me these days! I have to admit that this part of the equation is really pretty impressive and represents a massive cultural change from years past, when the bank viewed your money as "their" money...requiring explanation and justification to do anything "important" with your money, and special dispensation to meet with one of the "executives". I'm glad those days are gone and I'm generally happy with the service we get from Chase (and especially this branch) There is still more for Chase (and all other banks) to do...better interest rates for deposits...better securities management systems, that sort of thing. Finally, I have not used any of their loan or mortgage services (although not for lack of friendly and smiling offers of copious amounts of money at generous interest rates). A money guru and good friend of mine once said "lever up in the good times, but cash is king when things are tight"...well, he said it with more words and explanations like the brilliant economist that he is...but that was more or less the gist of it. So, I am more of a cash guy at the moment. And for the everyday, mundane, run of the mill management of that cash, Chase does a pretty decent job. Plus, I get to drool over the Ferrari's, Lambo's, Bentley's and Roller's parked out front, when I drop by for $60 in fast cash. read more

Great location, and what seems to be a big branch, but only one ATM machine (usually with a small line)? The ones in Tustin/Santa Ana have four ATMs. Strange. You might have to fight with the Whole Foods shoppers here aggressively looking for a parking spot to fuel their salad bar juice smoothie shopping trip. Usually never a wait inside, and the tellers are super nice, friendly, and used to dealing with really really old people, so you will be a refreshing change for them. This is one of the few locations that can actually print or make you a full credit card or atm/debit card if you lose yours, instead of waiting for one in the mail. So here's a tip: Skip waiting for the ATM and go inside instead. read more

I come here often for banking matters, basically getting cash so that I can go shopping :) I basically decided to only buy things with cash now since using my credit card usually leaves my purse hurting afterwards. My daughter and I have been banking with Chase for years in good standing on all of our accounts. I opened a business account and was conducting my business in the legal manner I follow when my credit card was frozen and shut down without a call or question. My business account is set to close and I was not told whatsoever until I found out at the branch. My daughter is a signer on my business account for emergencies and her two credit cards in good standing were shut down. I have to do reports and account for all of my business transactions. I have to balance my records exact to incoming and outgoing transactions. I follow all federal and state laws. I tried to talk with several people and one rep said I don't have to tell you anything. I was well then now the true color of the Pro Chase attitude I have is being shown in such disrespect from Compliance. I have supported all of Chase and this is my thanks a basic screw you account holder. Chase wake up. This is unacceptable and my attorney is already aware. I work with some of the wealthiest people in the world and they are astounded by the behavior of Chase. I am welcome when I bring my money in but not welcome to discuss or resolve a matter. I escalated the issue. I will file all necessary legal complaints. And, I am owed an apology with a new account and credit card as well as my daughter to receive her credit cards back. If refusal for credit occurs because of lower score and financial loss happens do to the closures I will take the matter in front of a judge. This is wrong. I am an honest upstanding human existence as so is my daughter. We treated and treat Chase well. We should receive the same treatment in return. read more

I first met Justin Beerman, the personal banker at Chase Bank in Fashion Island when I opened a checking account. Justin has always provided me with personable, polite, and superior customer service. He is prompt at answering any questions I may have and goes out of his way to make me feel welcome. For example, when he knew that we were planning for a trip to Europe, he called us to find out if we needed any euros. It's this kind of personal and thoughtful service that sets Justin Beerman apart from any other bankers. I have been with Bank of America in Long Beach since 1984 and have not gotten this kind of service. Ususally I don't have an opinion about my banking experiences except long lines, but I was really surprized about the level of friendliness and customer service this particular branch exudes. It's a great experience to have them actually remember me, either my name or I can see it in their reaction to my being there. Also, fortunately, I have never had to wait in a line. They are very organized and knowledgeable in all aspects of my banking needs so far.
