Chase 12380 Poway Rd, Justine Polidoro Manager/VP discriminates Asian USAF Veteran. I have 2 Veteran Owned business accounts and personal accounts with Chase for over 10 years. I have used their Notary services being a loyal customer and also a former Notary myself.
I visited this branch to inquire about Notarizing an Apostille as the State of California, Secretary of State is closed in LA and Sacramento. After 30 minutes sitting without an acknowledgement I ask if I needed to sign in or pick a number since the branch was empty, blonde lady said "I will be with you when I'm done on the phone", then Justin Polidora Branch Mgr/VP introduced himself and I inquired, he said google it. I exhausted all resources that's why I'm asking.
I returned the next day to have a Power of Attorney notarized as I did before in NJ Chase branch. After a 30 minute wait, same blonde lady sitting there on the phone without an acknowledgement, finally Justin come over and asked if my documents are bank related? First time I heard of this being a former Notary, "The California notary acknowledgement forms are certificates verifying that a notary public has confirmed the identity of a person who signed a legal "
I said yes if you need to know, this is to be sent overseas to sell a property so the funds can be wire over to this bank, I took the liberty to translated in English and Chinese. He responded hastily, that he is too busy and perhaps the blonde lady would help if she ever got off the phone. The branch is empty and now I know why. He came back and asked if I opened my account here and if I can show him my bank card, I asked my wife to show hers as this is related to her in Chinese. I ask for his business card and his supervisor's card, I call Phyllis Adamo while waiting and the voice message was someone else's. He returns to say that it is the branch manager's discretions on notarizing and he cannot read Chinese. I said I translated in into English for my wife so you can read the POA if you need to and reminded him that he is Notarizing and witnessing her signature, not offering legal advice. I asked if this discretion was a branch standard of practice or a national Chase SOP as I had a POA signed in NJ/NY at my local bank, no questions asked. After another 20 minutes my wife said let's go to the UPS Store and pay to get it done. Money is not the issue as I need to decide if I will continue to bank at Chase or forklift my account over to other banks that don't operate like Nazi Germany or CCP, but more importantly this branch needs to be retrained and be compliant with EEO as we are being discriminated as either Asian or US Military or both!
I drove to 10541 Scripps Poway Pkwy, Diva Mayan Lead teller came out from the counter and asked if I had an appt, I said know I can make one, she said let me call the other branches as our Notary is by appt only. She directed me to Carmel Mt branch, I thanked her and shared my discrimination experience and she apologized profusely and assured me that her manager will contact me, I said you should be the manager at Poway being so helpful and pleasant. I had my documents Notarized without questions or attitude.
Next day Phyllis Adamo had her assistant call to take my complaint, I asked who her manager is and who heads up San Diego and CA as if I do not get a response or a written apology Notarized by the Poway Bank Mgr/VP I will volunteer this story to the local news.
Any suggestions or similar experiences as I live in Poway, son attends HS here, are we as neighbors going to discriminate against races and US military? My parents were immigrants here just like everyone else that are not Native Indians, they did not immediately speak English as they were fluent in 3 other languages, raised 5 college kids, owned 2 paid off homes and retired restauranteur and their son a local Veteran owner of a construction company and Master Commercial/Residential Inspection business here in Poway. This experience is shocking even to a Brooklyn, New Yorker! read more
