I've been a Chase customer for a long time. I have a mortgage, HELOC, business accounts, car loan, personal checking and savings accounts and a credit card with Chase. When I decided to refinance my rental property in Oregon in September 2017, I started with Chase, since they already held the mortgage. I was quoted a good rate, and we started moving forward. Chase hired two different appraisal companies that wouldn't work with the property manager. After over two months of jerking around, Chase closed the file, and the loan didn't close. The mortgage agent told me that they could transfer all of my information and the $500 "good faith" money I put down at the beginning of the fiasco onto a new application. Then I was told that there was a penalty I'd have to pay if I started the new application within 60 days of the closing of the file, because I hadn't closed the loan. WTH? I sent both the mortgage agent and his supervisor an 18-page PDF showing the emails back and forth between the mortgage agent, myself, my property manager, and the two different appraisers Chase hired. They clearly showed that the property manager and I had worked diligently to get the appraisal done, despite the negligent appraisers Chase hired. Then the mortgage agent started ghosting me, and then his supervisor started ghosting me. When I FINALLY got the supervisor on the line today, he told me that they wouldn't waive the penalty, even though it was their fault, and that he only might be able to get my $500 applied to the new loan. So I wasted 3 months and $500 to learn that Chase doesn't value my business or my loyalty. Guess who just lost all of my business, and guess who's going to share her Chase experience with all of her real estate investing colleagues? read more
