If you expect any level of respect or adherence to basic banking practices... go elsewhere City National is top on my list... say goodbye to JP Morgan / Chase.... Chase Bank allowed $8,018 to be stolen out of my checking account. The branch manager was alarmed and knew it was fraud! But in the end this bank failed me and doesn't return my calls. Infact they're rude about it. I'm an elderly tax paying law abiding Marin County citizen. Chase Bank allowed $8,018 to be stolen and won't do anything about it. read more

Closed vestibule to ATM except for businesss hours. Completely negates the purpose of an ATM. Only when bank is open? A city like San Rafael, and not an ATM in the central city. Went to talk to manager who happens to not be there for... months? Strongly considering a new bank. Emails to Chase unresponsive going on one week. read more

Super slow only 2 people working at the desk and better off going to the Corte madera one

I've been a Chase client for about 15 years and usually have received excellent service...I have simple transactions and about 6 accounts with them. Chase recently closed one the the accounts I was managing for someone else back on Feb 1st. After multiple calls and visits, I've been promised the check for the amount in the account ( over $3K) on 5 different occasions. The bank tellers are very kind and trying to be helpful however their hands are tied because it's in the control of the - you guessed it - "Back office". At one point, I spoke to a woman on the phone at the branch. When I asked her who the manager was, she referred to herself in the third person, hoping I wouldn't notice. When I did, I said "so you're the manager", she acknowledged sheepishly. The only thing they can tell me is it takes up to 10 business days to receive a check. They told me the checks had been returned (twice now) as "undeliverable" - wow - during that time, I received my statements and a new debit card. When I ask them to provide me with a tracking number, they tell they can't. What mail in the US takes 10 business days?!? Or 40 for that matter?? As I sit here writing this review, I am told they're going to send a check to the branch & I should receive the internal check within 10 business days (WTF Chase?!?!) ....not gong to bet my life on it but what I will do is write a negative review, reach out to Michael Finney - On Your Side and the Better Business Bureau. I'll be closing my accounts and going down the street to Wells Fargo when this is situation is "resolved" And to think I've recommended Chase and have been one of their biggest cheerleaders to other people. I opened an account at Chase after selling my house - at one point I had hundreds of thousands of dollars in my account. Then they randomly starting charging me a service fees of $35 per month, I found out after several months and they refused to reverse all the charges. Last week I deposited a check for $5k and they told me it would take 10 days to clear (its perfectly good, from my son in Texas) . After calling the 800# and being treated rudely, mansplained, I then went down to the branch talked to the manager and was told to call the 800# again. I am totally disgusted - as soon as the check clears I will be moving my money over to WF which is where I do my primary banking. I was also planning to get a cc with them but I'll now go elsewhere... read more

I like the staff here. Problem is I run a business that relies on me banking Cheques, letting them clear and then ill pay my clients with a certified cheque. I always ask when will it clear? is there a hold? I will work from there instruction. The last two cheques I have deposited had a 3 day hold. On both occasions I went back in to ask for the certified cheque to be told there has been an extension and we need to hold the cheque for another 7 days. This is where the problem starts. No one can do anything about it. The Manageress was less than useless. Repeating everything I already know and how sorry she is. If you want to hold the cheque for 7 days tell me when I deposit it and ill work with it. Unlike Chase Bank I can't tell my clients "sorry" you will just have to wait. Embarrassing level of service. Don't get me started on their call centre. Time to look for another bank. read more

Was surprised by how good the service was at this bank! Friendly greeter at the door, teller Ashley very competently troubleshoot what was wrong with my credit card activation and it was a great experience. No lines, no waiting! read more

This is the worst Chase branch everywhere, The staff is so rude and unfriendly, I went in for a quick consultation about my account trying to talk to a banker who at the time was busy and one of the tellers came to tell me to come back later I told her I'll wait she just told me he won't help you he is busy and left. I wait there for 20 minutes so he finally finishes and instead of come and help me he goes inside do nothing. After another 20 minutes i go and ask him if he can help and he said no he has appointment and I was like i have been here for 20 minutes and you just standing there talking with you coworkers. I told him that I would like to talk to the manager and end up he was the manager and that he can't help me. Avoid this branch the customer service is horrible and if the head of the branch are so useless imagine everyone else. read more

The San Rafael Chase Bank branch is startled me with their outstanding customer service. Can't think of a time when a bank has impressed me more. My mom has been in a circling health decline and the staff in this branch has gone out of their way to help us sort thru our banking matters. Zach (branch mgr) in particular is an angel. He took care of some complicated paperwork and did it in a way that meant I did NOT have to return to the branch to finalize an account issue. I am so appreciative of his kindness. The branch is sparkling clean and nicely organized too. Validated parking in the back. Even though Chase is a huge banking institution, this is a wonderful, local, personal branch. read more

I left this bank a long time ago because of its poor service and have been happier at a Credit Union nearby. Money I have in my account now goes to helping the community I live in rather than to help Chase destroy the planet. Chase is the number 1 funder of fossil fuel infrastructure and, thus, pollution which makes people die more often because pollution attack the exact same place as COVID19 in the lungs while also accelerating Climate Breakdown. read more

Well, that was a very disappointing banking experience. I have multiple accounts at CHASE, and one of them was compromised. So, I went into the San Rafael branch on 4th Street, and in essence was brushed off by the banker, and told, and I quote, " I have an appointment with someone else, another client". Well I responded, "could someone else help". Stunned and stupefied, given the gravity of the situation, ($6K disappearing from an account) plus the extreme lack of professionalism, I then gained the attention of the bank teller. Perhaps as I was comfortably dressed up on my day off, vs my professional attire, there was a disconnect on customer service. Yet, having managed and co-owned a business, that should not have happened. Finally, a male teller, sensing my distress and disappointment, had the common sense to assist me. At this point, I needed to find someone that could expedite solutions. Given the aloof and polarizing banker at the San Rafael branch, the male teller managed to contact someone in Terra Linda, provide me with an address and contact, so we could at least find some solutions and get resolutions. I raced up farther north to resolve the immediate problem, and Jon D was efficient and sympathetic to my plight. So very disappointing to watch the utter lack of respect and attention to customer service at Fourth Street San Rafael. read more

Very rude customer service from Diana at the San Anselmo Location. She snatched my money order out of my hand and wasn't very professional. If you hate your job don't take it out on the customers. read more

I tried to get a notary done here. I emailed the document in to the notary in advance of my arrival. They said it would be fine and come on in. When I got there they made me wait for 20 minutes and then they told me that they were unable to sign the document. These people completely wasted my time I hope they don't waste yours. read more

This branch is totally unacceptable, and by far, the worst I've ever visited. Every time I go in to meet a banker, there's at least 5 people waiting and just one banker. One Banker! I have to say, I'm shocked a Chase branch, in the heart of San Rafael, is so pathetic. Skip this one and drive 10 minutes to the Greenbrae location, you will end up saving time along with the frustration. read more

Worst customer service ever! I waited for a long time to open an account and in the end a lady with glasses told me that she couldn't do it and she made me an appointment instead. I found that outrageous because the bank had two hours left until it closes. She just didn't want to open the account for me and have someone else do it. Don't come here if you want to experience bad service. read more

This branch is great! Hardly ever a line, and fast, efficient, friendly tellers. Chase is FAR better than Wells Nogo and B of Aholia. I can't even bear to walk into those banks after the great service that I have been getting from Chase for years. Thanks! read more

I went in to this branch to close my account since Chase would not let me do it online. I told my representative the fees I was suddenly being charged by Chase helped me decide to bank elsewhere. He told me had I come in sooner, he could have given me a reimbursement on my fees, but too many had racked up. I explained to him that I tried to get reimbursed both on the phone and online, but banking hours are not convenient for me. This was the first crappy sales pitch he gave me. I then explained my new bank reimbursed ATM fees from most other places. He told me they simply did not charge fees to bank with other ATMs. This was the second crappy sales pitch he gave me. It was also untrue. I now bank at Mechanics Bank and get reimbursed monthly for non-Mechanic's Bank ATM fees. I was already done banking with Chase and my experience here solidified that. I will not go here for currency exchange, check cashing or ATM use, even though my bank would reimburse me for the ATM use. read more

This was the worst service ever. I wish I could give a 0 star. To be brief I walked in to get money and left with no money because they made such huge errors that they locked my account!!! Then when I spoke to them about it they took no accountability for their error and told me I would have to wait until tomorrow to get money!!!! Not even an apology! I will never go to this bank again and I am actually thinking of leaving Chase if this continues. read more
