Just skidded into the local branch for a replacement card - basically 30secs before 5pm ... the teller, Samantha Ramirez was super friendly, no detection of "why are you here minutes before 5pm...?" Samantha was welcoming and jumped right in to support my needs - there were many. In addition, she requested backup when something didn't line up with what she needed to support my request(s) - Sean Mulligan stepped in to assist and resolve the matter immediately. He did so with ease and with a super jovial disposition. Nice suit Sean! In conversation - Yuri was helpful in locating branches in Oakland for my volunteer duties tomorrow. Rather than mentioning everyone that I've met since I've walked through their front door I will state generally that every contact I've had with an Associate has been wonderful. They made me feel right at home. It's more like laid-back banking. They're very professional but you don't have all that starch you see at the big banks. These are very nice people there, to help you the best way they can, and they nail it every time. I highly recommend going to Patelco to meet your financial needs to begin your savings. They are located over by Costco in Novato and easy to find. Be prepared for extremely friendly people. Patelco Credit Union Novato - Great Service - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Novato, California

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been a Patelco member for 25 years and Novato is not my local branch. New staff training would seem to be somewhat lacking here. I received acct. balances for NOT my acct. which was startling given that the balance communicated to me was virtually nil, so I stood there in a bit of shock wondering who had siphoned all the money from my account. When I then calmly stated that this account could not possibly be mine because of the low balance, I was met with a slight shrug and what appeared to be indifference in the form of no response from the teller-in-training. I pressed a bit and when it was then determined that the teller had indeed given me someone else's acct. information, no apology was extended by either the teller or the other employee who was partially over-seeing the transaction. It is amazing how an an 'I'm sorry' does actually go a long way. The absence of one is quite the opposite, of course. Update-just found out the 'hard way' that something I had requested be done that day at Patelco was in fact not done. Another huge 'Boo!' to you, Novato branch. read more

Following financial hardships that I was facing, Michael's expertise, professionalism, straight forward & to the point guidance, pulled me through. Never losing interest nor patience with the scores of questions I had. Never making me feel judged, while gently nudging me forward. With a "You've got this" attitude, until I did. I am SO disappointed with this branch, for SO many reasons. Stick together consumers and find another credit union. I will only share one as of right now. They promised me $50 and my friend who referred me as well for opening up a Checking account. When I came back in and worked with a different employee, they said that what was promised wasn't explained correctly but that they would still give us the $50. I had to hear a runaround. I told them to look back on their cameras since everything is recorded to check what was said. They giggled. I have emailed them three times and have not heard back. I won't name names but might come back on here to do just that. Vote with your wallet. There is one person in particular who consistently seems to have bad days. It's a male. This review is several months late, but better late than never, right? This review is for both the Novato and Rohnert Park branches, but I'm putting it in Novato, because they're the ones who ultimately were able to solve my problem. Last July, I lost my ATM card. I had just switched my primary banking over to Patelco from the bank I'd been with since I was 12 years old (they were charging fees for my checking accounts, and Patelco hadn't charged me any for the years I'd had accounts with them). I tried calling the 800 number for Patelco, but it would have taken them a week or so to get me a new card. I went to the branch closest to my work, the Rohnert Park branch, and they were very helpful, but didn't have a way to get me a card any faster. Kristy Dolan called around and found out that the Novato branch had just hooked up their card-making machine and that they would be able to make the card for me. She called them and let them know I would be coming by later that afternoon. When I got to the Novato branch, they were expecting me and were able to create my card immediately. I got there only a few minutes before closing time, but all of the agents there were friendly and patient, and I was so relieved to get my card so quickly and with such great service. I was still a bit on the fence about switching away from my old bank, but this experience with Patelco solidified my decision. read more

This bank has been nothing but good to me over the years. I've never had to worry about mysterious fees and they are always friendly and helpful. Also, out of nowhere and without warning or notification they increase the credit limit of my credit card by 1500 USD. I could be wrong about that, but that's what it shows online for me. Came here to cash a check before I left on a trip and was appalled at their front desk. The teller treated me like I was a criminal scamming checks. She asked me for my boss's number and I relayed to her she should have that in her records and phone herself. My boss gladly confirmed he wrote the check out to me and I was still treated poorly. Even if they weren't the final branch to process my auto loan they were very patience and helpful with the questions and delays we had with the purchase. Lisa and Meredith were the two I worked with. Not once did it seem like I was bothering them or did I ever feel rush by them. They gave superb customer service. They took my phone calls and talked/helped me with my dilemma. They never told me to contact customer service. They were a one stop shop. Willing to give me a call back after their research. I've been with Patelco for 30 years, almost 20 at the Novato branch. Patelco grew from a small, sometimes wobbly organization to a totally professional, totally reliable credit union. I've found their small Novato office staff friendly, hard working, always polite and helpful to customers. They know their stuff and know who to ask for help when they don't. I've used a half dozen of their many services from a line of credit, to IRA and CD's, to others, and never been disappointed. The tellers/bankers have always been nothing but friendly and courteous to me. I have had bad expierences with other banks in the past, and this branch is a great reminder as to why I switched banks. This is more a review of the HELOC customer service vs the person at Novato who was nice on the phone. I wrote 2 checks from my line of credit to my contractor with no problem. He went to BofA to cash the 3rd check, won't clear. He drives from Mill Valley to Novato to a Patelco Branch and he and I are informed that I need to call verify that the check is valid. This is stated nowhere on the complimentary checks that I received that encourage Home Improvement financing through HELOC (more interest for them). I lost 2 days of work from it. read more

I encountered the rudest teller today who tried to refuse to take my deposit saying I was not listed on the account (I've been on this account since day 1) and have been making deposits at this very bank for the last 3 years. After 20 minutes of going back & forth, it was finally straightened out and the teller ended up taking the deposit but I was done with her & this bank by then and I will NEVER go back. read more

Love this credit union! Years with Wells Fargo Bank and finally decided to move my business to a credit union. I found this small credit union located in Novato at the Vintage Oak shopping center. The branch was nice and clean with beautiful flowers at each desk. The branch manager, Ms. Kim Ngo, assisted me with the accounts. She was very pleasant to work with, answered all my questions, and gave me the best option to save and earn money. She was very knowledge with her products, and educated to discuss current market events.
