They take you out pretty deep and you try a few different spots and everyone catches some fish (mostly just lane snapper, though a few people caught one or two others, like a mackerel--there was also plenty of grouper but too small for us to keep so we had to throw them back). That was great since the first time I went fishing in Costa Rica, we didn't catch anything. They told us that if you do the 3/4 day or full day trip, you can go out even deeper and catch a wider variety of fish, which we'll have to try next time. One guide was super helpful and attentive; the captain less so. I wish they came around more to help out beginners like us but overall still a great time. They do take quite a few people out during COVID (we had 11 people on our boat) so there's that to consider if that's an issue for you. Otherwise, they're great fun and teach you how to fish - and they clean/gut it at the end for you so you can cook at home or bring to the restaurant on the harbor where they will also cook for you (though the local restaurant - the Dock at Crayton Cove right at the end of the harbor - charges a hefty $25 to do so).

The beach, however, was happenin', with lots of people lazing on the beach or in the beautiful water. Despite the amount of people there, we were able to find sea shells, and because of the time of day, there weren't a ton of gulls. The beach stretches out for quite a bit in both directions from the pier, but we went to the right of it to get the best shots of the sunset. Parking here is metered with one of those pay machines where you put in your space number and how long you will be there. It is reasonably priced, and there were a lot of parking spaces. I believe you can park on the bordering streets if the lots are full. Honestly, I didn't even now we were going to visit here, but I'm glad we did! Wow! Where do I begin? Great Wolf Lodge was such a fun family getaway! We live about two hours away…read moreand drove over Sunday morning, stayed one night, and checked out on Monday. It was one of the best family experiences we've had, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Starting with the location, the resort is conveniently situated right off I-75 and is impossible to miss. The property is huge and offers plenty of parking. My only minor complaint is that there is very little shade in the parking lot. Check-in was quick and easy. Kirsten at the front desk was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She answered all of our questions and made the arrival process seamless. Upon check-in, every guest receives a pair of wolf ears, which is a fun touch and makes everyone feel like part of the "pack." Our toddler was celebrating a birthday a few days later, so we purchased the birthday package, which was under $40 and absolutely worth it. It included two large balloon displays, a birthday poster, a special birthday wolf plush, birthday wolf ears, and a bag filled with toys and treats. One of the coolest perks was the included birthday cup, which could be filled at the candy bar in the gift shop. Our toddler loved leaving with a cup full of gummy bears! The resort's app is also very helpful. It provides a schedule of all the activities happening throughout the day. There are so many kid-friendly events offered in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The lobby itself is incredibly interactive and comes alive at night with story time, dance parties, and other entertainment. It's truly something you have to experience in person. The resort also has dining options on-site, including a full-service restaurant and smaller food spots such as Dunkin'. Of course, the biggest attractions are the Adventure Park and water park. The Adventure Park includes a ropes course, arcade, mini golf, bowling, and more. During our short stay, we spent our time in the arcade and water park. The arcade was a lot of fun and reasonably priced. Everything is loaded onto a prepaid card, making it easy to add money, track credits, and store tickets for prize redemption. The water park was the true standout. It is massive and has something for every age group. There are multiple play areas for younger children, exciting slides for older kids and adults, a lazy river, a wave pool, and a giant tipping bucket that drenches everyone below. And that's just the indoor water park. Outside, there is another large pool with a beach-style entry that gradually gets deeper. There are lounge chairs positioned right in the water, which made for a very relaxing experience. The outdoor area also includes a hot tub, bar, and convenient restroom facilities. One feature I especially appreciated was the wide variety of complimentary life jackets available for children of different ages and sizes. Being able to use them throughout the park was such a great benefit for families. Honestly, this place exceeded our expectations in every way. From the staff and activities to the water park and family-friendly atmosphere, Great Wolf Lodge delivered an incredible experience. We are already planning our next trip back!

The only reason I gave it a 4 is the overall affordability. It's a very pricey place. You pay for everything outside of what you pay for your room. Thank goodness it includes the waterpark passes. That was primarily why we were there. And we all enjoyed every minute. Outside of the water park we spent a lot of time in the Arcade. It was a lot of fun. A lot of tickets won and they walked away with some great prizes. Over all our stay was good. Room was nice and spacious. And comfortable. The activities on the lobby for the kids were great. Especially the story time. Watching our 2 year old grandson enjoy that was priceless.

This place used to have crazy fun stuff like this waterfall in the pool for example. It felt luxurious and felt fun to be at even for all ages. But now every single aspect that was fun about the park has been stripped away. For example; the lazy river used to be fast and fun with buckets of water dropping on your head and water spraying and pouring above you with fun stuff to do with people everywhere, but now the river is fully empty and not one bucket or water pipes that leak water onto you are there. When I say zero I mean ZERO! Instead you've got this barren wasteland and husk of what it used to be. (Not to mention but the river is a bit TOO lazy. You barely move forward!) don't even get me started on the rebranding! There used to be this cool turtle guy who was the mascot and things were actually THEMED after him with like lily pads and turtle themed attractions; but now it's this stupid alligator guy who does not look welcoming or full of fun at all. Oh my god and the fountain sprinklers they used to have just don't even work. Like they're there but they just don't turn on at all and it used to be a big attraction there but now it's just dead. I can genuinely name 100 more things that were so much better then whatever lackluster amalgamation they have going on there. This park used to be fun and exciting, but everything that defined the park is gone. If you went there before it all went down the drain you'd know. It's really hard to explain how great this park used to be to someone who's only gone within the past year but it was truly magical. We need to get this park back to its former glory. But until this park gets its s*** together, don't go.

The beach is a soft white fluffy sand. The only food choice nearby is the concession stand at the pavilion.

We had a great time from the time we left the dock. We seen a school of bottle nose dolphins, birds and a large sea turtle. Now the fun part is when Capt. Bill put us on the fish and talking about non-stop action fish-on fish-on fish-on and fish-on continuous my wife literally had to take a break because her arms were hurting from the rod and reel. We caught Yellowtail Snappers, Mangrove Snappers, Lane Snappers, Vermilion Snappers, Red Groupers, Strawberry Groupers, Almaco Jacks, Blue Runners, Cobia, Porgy, and a huge Lemon Shark. We had a ton of fun catching King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel and blue runners. Along with Grouper, snapper and a few others. When we got back to skin the fish, we had 10 Times the fish that other fishing guides had brought in! He is also very attentive, making sure you always have fresh bait on your line and is right there when you have a fish on your line to guide you if you need help. We highly recommend him!
