this is a huge park. There's baseball field across the street. It's in a nice area. There's a ton of street parking, but I think when it gets busy, it can be hard to find. We don't walk around the area too much. We usually use the children's playground which was recently done in the past couple of years I think. It's really cute. It's got multiple play areas for different ages. Lots of swings and swing type activities. Some outdoor musical equipment. Lots of big slides for older kids and lots of climbing equipment which is really nice as well. There's a walking path around there. There's a huge area to run around in with lots of trees and squirrels, but it's not a lot of grass there and there are a lot of roots so if they fall, they could get hurt. There's a couple few benches and there's also restrooms in the area, which is nice. There is parking close to the playground up on the hill, but it does get full quickly. I really like this playground overall with a lot of variety. read more

Gorgeous, well-maintained park with a decent amount of parking. I stay within walking distance of this park when I'm in Atlanta, so I've seen it through four seasons now. It is a gem. It has approximately 3 miles of cement or paved walking trails that go around the perimeter and through the playground area. For the most part, the path is reasonably wide for two-way traffic. It's also even for those with strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, etc. The trail is hilly, so you'll get some ups and downs, and you'll also get some shade as you go through some wooded areas - respite from the heat of summer. Since you're often out in the open, don't forget your sunscreen! There are plenty of benches, swings, and places to sprawl out in sun or shade should you want a break. It's good that it's so wide because there is a lot of traffic here. I've walked the path from about 05:00 AM to 11:00 PM during various times of the year. There are slower days/times, but I almost always see people throughout the walk. And dogs. Lots of dogs. Since there are so many dogs, people are used to it and tend to handle them well. There are a couple of water fountains with dog dishes at the bottom, and they plumbing down to them works! Check them out if you walk with your dog! In the upper end of the park there is a lovely, large playground with equipment for toddlers and bigger kids. It is separate from other parts of the park, and it is wooded, so you get some respite from the sun or rain. The play area is well appointed and organized. It has a good amount of outdoor musical instruments which seem well constructed and maintained. There are the usual slides, swing, climbing equipment. The playground is built into an incline, so if you're a hiker and want a hiking kid, you've got some fun areas to practice groomed and natural. I don't know if they planned it that way, but these are lovely features, and the area is so well thought out that I imagine someone thoughtfully integrated these natural activity spaces. The play area is spacious and has open areas for resting, rolling down hills, running, playing ball. And it gets used! There are generally lots of folks here, and it seems to be a local third space as I've overheard plenty of planned and unplanned meetings of neighbors or families that know one another from schools. I haven't tried any of these, but they are also in or at the park: horse riding facility, pool club, tennis and pickleball facilities, golf course, baseball fields, a gym (I think). All of these keep the park busy with foot and car traffic, so pay attention as you're roaming around! read more

I love going to Chastain Park for brisk walk. This is one of my community parks so I get to go often. Chastain is known for its clean impeccable grounds, Elite Golf & Tennis Court. Chastain park has clean bathrooms, a few tables where you can eat lunch, thriving water fountains & a beautiful gift shop. Saturday & Sundays tends to be their busiest days. For parking you can park along the street, make sure you get there early, street parking is shared with a school across the street. Area is safe, police officers patrols on regular basis. I highly recommend Chastain Park. 10/10. I'll load some video's. read more

What's not to love about Chastain park??!! They literally have something for everyone. We stopped by on a break from our road trip and the kids were so excited to climb in the Tree House and slide down the long slides! The adults around even wanted to get in on the action. The layout of the playground is nicely spaced out and provides nice shaded sitting areas for the parents. If you're not into playgrounds, there are nice trails, swinging benches and beautiful baseball fields which all provide great opportunities to people watch and immerse yourself in all the nature that this beautiful Buckhead park has to offer!! read more

Wow! So beautiful and so much fun!!! I think they're still adding to it, it seems as though there's some construction going on slightly. However, the park is beautiful and full of fun activities for this kids. They have musical instruments, a slide that's not your typical slide, they also have regular slides available, and some odd avocado looking swings . I loved every second. Don't sleep on this little piece of paradise in Buckhead! Whether you're looking for a spot to go for a run, a trail to walk your dogs, or a shaded spot for a picnic - Chastain has it all. This park is flawless - it's kept incredibly clean and at this time of year it is absolutely beautiful to see all of the changing colors of the leaves! If you walk the entire loop of the park, you'll likely hit right around 3 miles (the perfect walk for us with our dog!) There are plenty of trash cans and doggy stations throughout the park and there are benches, swings, tables etc in various areas. Not to mention, if you are a real estate lover, the homes and estates that border this park are breathtaking! There is a parking lot near the tennis courts and plenty of street parking as well! This spot is a hidden gem in buckhead. Covid friendly outdoor seating and covered patio. Excellent wholesome food and coffee/tea options. Lovely ambiance for spring summer with friends and family. Well architectured and well manicured park! This park is the greatest!!! I love the running trail. It is has mile markers and signage around the entire park, which is good for those who get turned around easily. It is long, clean, and gives you plenty scenary. The neigbborhoods surrounding the park are well manicured and have nice curb appeal. The ballpark is always bumping with an exciting game. This is by-far my fav park in the ATL Metro Area! What a wonderful little park for kids to enjoy. There are lots of things for the little ones to do such as a small climbing wall, a double slide with rollers, jungle gym, a small pavilion with water fountain and restrooms, xylophone, and shady trees to keep you cool from the hot Atlanta sun. **This review is for the playground/ play area** What a beautiful and vast area for children....eh and adults :). What will you find here: -Little Free Library -Beautiful, multicolored piano donated with bench for all to play -Bench Swings galore -Mini wall climb station -Paw patrol tower , or at least that's what I call the cute wooden tower -Drums and other musical instruments - Picnic tables -Mini Pavilion -Long, long, metal bumpy slides (don't know what the name for them) -Actual playground set with slides and monkey bar handles, etc. -Bathrooms right by the pavillion -Lots and lots of space! This was our first time to Chastain Park and DEFINITELY not our last! There are so many parts to Chastain park including sport fields, an amphitheater, etc. One section at a time. My kids had an amazing time at the play area. Having an outdoor piano was so refreshing! There are a couple parking spots that are directly in front of the play area, otherwise there is street parking. We went on an overcast day, my favorite kind of day. Chastain Park is incredible! I'm so thankful to have visited here for the first time in early March before all of our lives changed due to COVID-19 just a week later. As I have a toddler, we spent all of our time on the playground. Typically, I would become antsy pretty quickly, debating how quickly we could leave. However, this park is entertaining for all ages. We spent 10-15 minutes on each activity, but there are just so many activity options that we were entertained for hours. I just did some perusing to see if the playground has re-opened but am unable to find the information. Make sure to check out their Facebook page as it seems a bit more frequently updated than the actual website. read more

We came here on this visit for Cheryl Crowe. She is amazing and the performance was awesome. Service from the concession and bar staff was friendly and prompt. I have a love/hate relationship with this venue. I always start off excited but then the parking and cramped seating always bring me down. I work in a dark office with no natural light so I treasure opportunities to be outside. We have purchased both tables and seats for dozens of events over the years. I am consistently annoyed with the seating. We purchased a table for Heart and Cheap Trick for six people. It was miserable!!!! So small and cramped!! It was made worse because we were right of the stage and our table setup placed two chairs into a space that should have been the aisle. All adjacent tables in our row had the same setup. It essentially locks the entire row and no one can move or reach bathrooms unless everyone moves chairs or is willing to have strangers climb over them and their food. This is ridiculous and not worth the money. In the future we will purchase the table for six but only attend with four people. The Cheryl Crowe concert was the same drama. We also purchased individual seating this year only to arrive and find that our cluster of seats had been commandeered for food and trash by the adjacent patrons who just assumed that our seats were vacant. Individual seats at this venue lack armrests or partitions. It is a consistent annoyance to have strangers in my personal space here. Woodruff and Tabernacle have small seating too BUT at least it's physically separated to keep my space all to me. I hope the management of Chastain reads this review and considers how tables and seating are represented and priced. They could learn a lesson from Verizon amphitheater in Alpharetta. I really want to love this venue but configuration to create DEFINED and comfortable seating must be initiated to earn a better review!! read more

Chastain Park is a beautiful well kept place, it is also the largest park in Atlanta being that it is a whopping 268 acres, Piedmont park is 189 acres so it makes you scratch your head and take notice. You have easy access to just about anything you could possibly want this is a simple list of some of the things offered at this park. 1. Baseball/softball leagues, got it. 2. Tennis courts, yes they are free. 3. If you feel the need to swim but don't have a pool there is one here. 4. Like horses and can afford one good for you there are stables & an equestrian center. 5. Picnic areas are everywhere with large stone grills for your use, take care you put out your flames when your done. 6. Feel like taking a few swings a golf course is available and lessons are offered. 7. If jogging/walking is what you do to get into or keep in shape three trails are here just follow the arrows or make up your thing. Yellow is 1.68 mi., the Blue & Red trails are 3.1 miles each and can kick your (my) out of shape butt. 8. Have you ever seen a concert here if not well ya should, Chastain is a great place to see outdoor concerts don't forget to bring that loaded picnic basket with ya and occasionally an umbrella the music will start again when the rain stops. 9. There is even a conservatory - trying to find out more about this. 10. An arts center, programs for kids of all ages and schools in and around the park are here. Can you really ask for anything more yes, my only complaint is that there is not a place to grab quick drinks or food (occasionally you might find a food truck) with that said there are random water fountains some with doggie bowls spread though out the property. This is a repost of my original review that was posted on the Chastain Park Amphitheatre listing. Clearly, since it was about the park, it makes more sense that it finally has its own separate listing, so thanks to Audrey F for setting that up. Great walking path for the neighborhood. The PATH is on the east side, and it's double the usual sidewalk width, so there's plenty of room for those of us with strollers in tow. If you walk just the PATH and the part on W Wieuca, it's just under 3 miles, but if you add the part on the west side by Horseradish Grill and the horse park, you get in some good hills and maybe another mile of distance. The wildlife is also excellent for an intown park - lots of blue birds, gold finches, even a pair of red-tailed hawks. It's a little slice of nature in the city. Of course, there's tons of recreation, too. There's a playground in the north part of the park. As expected for the neighborhood, this is one of the fanciest playgrounds in the area. It's got lots of regular rubber swings (6 I think), 2 buckets swings, and very fancy wood/plastic/metal play ground. The coolest feature of the play set itself The area is covered with mulch, but it's pretty small mulch, and it's well worn, so it soft and safe. The bucket swings are at a good height for parents to push, (maybe a little low, but then again I'm taller than many mothers), and they're off a little bit so that you've got a good view of the park while pushing your little one. There are also lots of family park bench style swings and picnic tables. There is no covered area at the playground itself, so it's hot and bright in the summer months, but there are some beautiful old trees. Additionally, porch-type swings line pretty much the entire east side. If you're willing to pay, there are tennis courts, a golf course, a horse park, and a pool. In the early afternoon, there's plenty of parking either up the horse park, by the NYO gym, or along W Wieuca. The traffic really backs up at the intersection of Lake Forrest and W Wieuca, so take the Powers Ferry Side instead. ** updated added to previously stated review with this posting on 9/23/13 - There are several development projects in the funding stages including: new playground with shaded play area, widened path on the west side, and expanded parking for the ball fields. I visited the park on Sunday afternoon during a family visit to Atlanta and stumbled upon an art festival which is right up my alley. Lots of beautiful green space for families to enjoy, my cousin's kids loved all of the playground equipment - swings, treehouse, slides. I started up the winding path to check out the art and it went on and on and on, cool to see great selection of artists, but was amazed how many artists were there, I didn't make it to the end of the park, kids got a bit antsy and had to leave. I would like to further explore this park on a future visit to Atlanta. read more

Great park for kids, adults, dogs. Like that they have a few options other than the traditional playground equipment. The rollerslide was a hit but bring cardboard to sled down on helps you glide down & more comfortable on kids legs. We had some in the car & when we brought it out kids wdnt crazy! Chastain Park is gigantic and spans quite the "hither and yon" of Buckhead. I wasn't really sure what to expect as I didn't really read up much, but we wanted to explore it and find out what it had to offer. There are signs everywhere pointing you to what you may or may not be looking for. Baseball fields, golf, tennis courts, the pool, trails, etc. Chastain has a wide variety and probably something everyone is looking for. It's really pretty, too. We didn't get a chance to check out the amphitheatre, but that is a really cool asset to the park. There are plenty of rolling hills and different places to explore. All of the facilities seem to maintained rather neatly, too. That's a huge plus. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying a day at the park or maybe even a round of golf. read more

What's not to like about Chastain Park, it provides all the amenities you need in a great park. Miles of walking and running paved routes with mile markers. Most of it is extra wide to accommodate all the foot traffic along the trails. There is a public nine hole golf course, public tennis courts, a swimming pool, horse stable, baseball and softball fields, a playground for kids and ample picnic areas with stone grills. There is an amphitheater that has great concerts all summer long and plenty of street parking and some private parking as well by the softball fields. A lot of the trails are shaded to beat the summer heat as well. read more

This was my first time at Chastain Park first concert ever hear and I really enjoyed it it was a good time too far to walk as far as I getting to concerts are concerned they can do some better parking but I got past that when they had the girl in the golf cart pick us up and take us to the concert area I thought that was awesome. I would definitely definitely recommend anyone to attend any events that they may be having at Chastain Park or even just come out and enjoy the park is a lovely area is beautiful people are beautiful is absolutely amazing read more

This park is a great place to spend a sunny day. There are numerous baseball fields and tennis courts, with plenty of seating if you just want sit and watch. There is a large play area for children with lots of equipment. My favorite is the paved walking trail-- it's a little under 3 miles, and circles the golf course. The trail is dotted with benches/swings, and has some picnic benches near the creek. On nice days parking can be a little hard to find, so just be mindful when bringing the family! read more

Lovely park! BIG park! surprisingly not a hugely congested park. I've visited Chastain Park plenty of times, but today I came for an organized 5k race that circled the park. While running, I got a really nice view of how pretty the park is, from the kept up grass, golf course (not sure if that's free), happy wildlife walking about ((i.e. (Mostly) non-aggressive geese), and the sloping hills give this park personality that more flat ones lack. You may get lost in Buckhead, where Chastain can be found, but one thing you can never say is you got lost at Chastain, because there's signs that tell you everywhere you may want to go. Chastain Park has an Amphitheater for concerts, although I've never seen one here, and several outdoor fields and courts you're used to (kids play area, golf, tons of walking trals and a baseball field). Tons of benches are littered about if you want to chill and people watch as well. Very lovely, large and welcome park that i'm hoping to see more of in the future. read more

While visiting Atlanta, we stopped here to let the littles run off some energy. The entire park is absolutely stunning! Lots of space to explore. We spent our time at the playground and in the small covered area that had a restored piano available to play. The playground is great with lots to do and explore! GREAT park, if you live in Atlanta and haven't been I highly recommend it. It's a huge park, includes golf course, several baseball fields, and amphitheater, and several trails. It gets busy on nice days (no surprise) but I walk the perimeter around the golf course and since it's so long around, the park doesn't feel crowded. Chastain is clean, safe , and everyone seems so happy. It's in a very high end neighborhood too so you don't have that city feel like Piedmont. The Arts Festival held in the fall is a fantastic fall day well spent! read more

While Piedmont Park is definitely the most well known park in Atlanta, Chastain Park (located close to Buckhead and Brookhaven) is another great park inside the city with much to offer residents. There is a fantastic paved route around the perimeter of the park that is perfect for walkers and runners. Inside the park is a golf course, a horse stable, an amphitheater, swimming pools, and baseball diamonds among other destinations. This makes it a great place to walk and spend time because there is always something going on to watch. There are water fountains located around the park and also free parking - great park amenities in my opinion!!! read more

I love the paths throughout the park! They're perfect for walking/running. It's clean and quiet here. My only hangup is the unfinished sidewalks. There are areas of the park that are under construction, so those should be fixed soon. Otherwise, a great place to visit! read more
