It opened in 1958 and has seen many acts over the years, including the Temptations, the Supremes, and many others. I was here Friday and Saturday for the Yacht Rock radio concert and it was a good time had by all. There was plenty of room to move around, security was everywhere and many food and drink options. They seem to keep this place in decent shape despite the amount of people that come in and out of here. I have no clue how many events they do per year, but it seems to have held up. You can see Belle Isle from the dock area and the main ballroom on the second floor. I didn't get to go up to the third floor because that was the VIP area which I wasn't part of so I cannot speak for the state of that area. No formal complaints, but some things that could use some attention. First, the dock area leading out to the boat docking station in back needs to be painted. Maybe they do it every summer, maybe not. But, a little paint and attention would make it look better as it was already worn looking in July. There's a marina/boat area attached to the roostertail and I don't know if it's owned by these people or not, but it looks like a hot mess from the road. It seems to be part boat graveyard and storage area, but it looks extremely unkept and awful. They need to clean it up, STAT. Bathrooms here were in good shape and clean all around. The ladies room has a large sitting area with a couch for gathering which I like. This event center really is a great view for any event and shows off bits and pieces of Detroit. I know others have mentioned the interior being dated, but it was to busy for me to really tell. It wasn't awful, but I also take into account that they're having multiple events here for many different things. Honestly, I think the boat yard next door could use some attention to make the outside more presentable.

The entire hall was divided in two, half for the ceremony, seating 100, while the other half of the hall was for the reception. Review: I have to say this was a great experience. The owner, Jim LaRoy did a wonderful job communicating with us throughout the entire process. We had so many questions, and much of the planning, like always was done last minute. Mr. LaRoy did a great job, and runs a great hall. The food was wonderful, there was plenty of it, and it was buffet style. My wife and I are not fancy people that need a $75.00 plate of food for the wedding, we enjoyed the "comfort" foods, that were prepared very well. We did not hear one negative comment about the food the entire night! Open bar was great, dance floor was great, and overall layout was great. The price per person was very low compared to other places we looked into before booking. We were able to use the money to invite many extra people instead of going to a very expensive venue. They have a very large amount of tables and chairs but they do not have a large amount of round tables available. We did find that however that did work to our needs. They were extremely helpful during the party hours coming and changing trash as needed without being asked the staff also helped me with extension cords. I would recommend this place hands-down to anybody looking for a venue for graduation party, baby shower, etc. in the Taylor area!
