    Havana nights, 2025
    Andrea D.

They have some fun events. In 2025, I went to yacht rock and Havana nights. Both were great, great people watching. My one big complaint about events at the rooster tail, which are run by a third-party is handicap parking. If a ticket holder has a handicap plate or placard, they should not be penalized and have to pay $60 to be in the main lot when that is the only lot available based on their situation. I would like to see more empathy and consideration on that front.

I attended a wedding here and it was the best wedding I've ever attended! Everything was amazing--decor, setup, space, food, bar, service, everything. The views were incredible, the outdoor space was super nice, and the fountain was a fun touch. The food, drinks, and service were excellent. What a special venue!!!

The Roostertail is a FABULOUS establishment that's celebrating their 65th Anniversary. The staff is very accommodating and facility is well-kept. I was there for an event and there was a variety of entertainment both outside and indoors. To celebrate National Ice Cream Day, there was Strawberry Shortcake. Yummy!

I attended a wedding recently on March 8th, 2025 I could not believe how absolutely breathtaking it was! Of course I felt that way because Shawna always goes above and beyond! beyond. how she embodied the couples, personalities and flare into the whole celebration. This once again goes to prove Shawna without a doubt is absolutely amazing and if you're going to have a wedding or event here you must go with her. Along with my wedding we were fortunate to have Shawna as our wedding event coordinator at The Roostertail Detroit. She truly went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. Shawna was incredibly organized, always responsive, and proactively anticipated our needs. Her expertise made every decision feel easy, and on the day of, she ensured everything ran flawlessly. We were able to relax and fully enjoy our wedding knowing Shawna had every detail covered. Highly recommend!

Cool place to visit, being on the water is a bonus. The staff is all great, Shawna is our favorite though, every time we visit we make sure to say hello. Highly recommend attending one of thier special parties or having your event here. Very historic and classy place.

Shawna and Nichelle made my mom's 60th birthday an absolutely breathtaking experience. They listened to every idea we shared and elevated each one, bringing our vision to life in the most beautiful and thoughtful way. The entire weekend felt effortless and stress-free because of their organization, creativity, and professionalism. Their teamwork was unmatched, it truly made the celebration unforgettable for our family and every guest in attendance. I would highly recommend requesting Shawna specifically. She also planned my parents' 25th wedding anniversary in 2010 and after all these years, she remains one of the most talented, reliable, and wonderful women to work with.

The Roostertail staff and leadership were very accommodating. The venue is breathtaking and perfect, with the best views. However, it's the sense of urgency that Nicole and the Schoenith family displayed that truly stood out. The Junior League of Detroit is a nonprofit, and they worked with us to bring our vision to life. We are so grateful for their partnership and look forward to many more events together in the future."

Edited after gathering more information. We attended the Havana Nights event at this venue. I will point out the good and bad of the venue itself and not the event. Parking - The event had to 'rent' parking, which arranged to charged attendees $15 per car. This notice was blasted to the attendees three times in the week prior to the event. At arrival, the VENUE charged $20 per car and told us " It is what it is, turn around and take it up with the organizer or pay the $20." This set a very poor tone to start the evening and come to find out, was completely the owner's decision to up the price on the attendees. We had arrived early and had exact bills for payment, as requested. The venue's parking attendants were very rude and didn't want to hear any questioning to the higher price. *after gathering more information about what happened, we were clearly ripped off by the venue in a money grab for parking revenue that the event secured separately. Facilities - The venue is beautiful though a bit dated and the air conditioning was cold, which was perfect for such a hot muggy evening. Great views of the river, amazing floating dock that was actually on the river with another DJ and dance floor. The outside patios were nicely shaded and plenty of room for dancing. The cigar patio was perfectly distanced from the dance floors but still offered great view of the river. My suggestion is to have mobile bars available on the main floor with proper setup for beverages - bartenders have to use tables and two liters which does not make for a classy event in any case. All in all a fine venue if the owner wasn't super shady. Personally, I will not consider this venue for any of my future events, however, at least I will know what we are walking into if we visit the Roostertail again. I won't park there, though.

The Club House was an excellent choice for my celebration.

Celebrated my 70th Birthday at the Roostertail. Everything was top-notch...the food, the service, and the Vibe! My event coordinator, Nicole, was there to make sure that everything was beyond my expectations!!!! I couldn't been happier with the outcome. It was magical. If you are planning a party, celebration, or a special event....please consider the Roostertail as your number 1 choice. Arlene

This is a review of the Havana Nights fundraiser for the Detroit Belle Isle Boathouse. It seems to be an annual event. The Roostertail is the perfect place for it. Lots of parking, 3 prices depending on how close to the building you are. I got the closet since the boat club gets a cut. Open space for lots of people and even different levels to spread out based on your level of ticket (I got the cheapest). A few bands or DJs, dance lessons, and even a 360 photo booth gave you other things to do besides drink and smoke cigars. Those with the cheap tickets had a few food trucks to buy a taste of the Caribbean. People selling jewelry, bath and body items, and a wonderful artist selling paintings, shoes and clothing. Just a good place to people watch and see how little some had to wear in public. I just choose to be 1950s classic with a twist. Plan to be back next year since it was fun and help a good cause.

Once you get passed the dated decor and the bird sh%t all over the windows overlooking the Detroit river, you'll see this place has potential. Was here for a wedding, and the ceremony was held outside with the river as the backdrop. Gorgeous. Once we were shuffled inside, I thought I was in a Miami Vice episode. I dug the retro theme, but some didn't. And was it retro intentional, or just actually from the late 80's or early 90's? The drinks were strong and the food was acceptable. I would've given them 5 stars if it wasn't for the bird fecal matter all over the windows.

You must hold an event here, especially a wedding or graduation party. The view of the Detroit River is so beautiful here.

Someone who's been to several events there recently said the experience was pretty disappointing. The event seemed short-staffed, so things didn't run smoothly for guests. What stood out most was that management never really came out to check on things or address any of the problems. My aunt selected a white cake with strawberries as the dessert, it was excellent. It was made in-house, cut and served beautifully, plated on two dessert tables. This was my first time visiting Jackson Five Star Catering, as I had never heard of it before. So I was curious about trying a new place. My girlfriend has had some of yours food before, and she thought it tasted very good. So I became excited. Upon walking up to the window, the young woman on the register visibly had an irritated look on her face. My girlfriend ordered a sausage, and as I was about to say what I wanted, the cashier just walked off before I had a chance to begin speaking. After she came back to the window with a wrapped sausage, she looks at my girlfriend and asks, "Anything else?" I spoke up asking, "For the chicken tender meal, how large of an order of fries come with that?" She responded, "It's a $4 fry order". Once again, I had never eaten here before, so I had no idea what size that would be. So I said, "But I don't know how big that is", after which she holds up an empty tray and says, "All the food fits in this tray! The chicken sits on top of the fries!" She then shoves the tray through the ordering window and almost directly in my face saying, "You do the math! I don't know what to tell you!" It was at this point that I just told her, "Never mind. I don't want anything". Then my girlfriend handed back the sausage, and we both walked away extremely agitated, and extremely hungry. If I could give a score lower than 1 star, I definitely would. This is the only interaction I've had with this establishment, and I don't believe that I will be returning.
