Chateau Veterinary Hospital was absolutely amazing--especially if you're traveling internationally with a pet, or honestly, if you just need an exceptional vet. They handled our international health certificate for our dog, Chester, and our cat, Muscade, and made what is usually a very stressful process feel completely manageable. Summer Stein was our main point of contact, and she is truly an expert when it comes to international travel paperwork. Dr. Fraser completed the health screening, and the entire process was seamless. One huge bonus that not many people realize: if you're traveling with two pets, they can be listed on one health certificate. That alone saved us time, money, and unnecessary stress. Before finding Chateau, I had reached out to several clinics and felt overwhelmed and unsure. The moment Summer answered my call, I felt confident we were in the right hands--and I was right. We arrived in France with zero issues. One very important tip for anyone traveling internationally with pets: yes, the health certificate must be validated within 10 days of travel, but your vet appointment should be scheduled at least one month before your departure. This allows enough time for the USDA to process, endorse, and mail everything back to you. Summer guided us through this timing perfectly. I also really appreciated that they had us test anti-anxiety medication before travel to ensure the correct dosage. Best advice ever. It made a world of difference knowing exactly what Chester needed--and to be clear, these are not tranquilizers, which are forbidden for international travel. We even had to recheck Chester in Paris for our connecting flight to Nice. He refused additional medication at that point but still did very well. There were no issues--no barking, no complaints from airline staff, and he remained calm throughout the entire process. He was understandably nervous by the time we picked him up in Nice, but he was completely okay. I was nervous about giving him medication in the first place, but testing it ahead of time and following their guidance truly paid off. Another thing worth mentioning: Chester is an anxious dog when it comes to vet visits. He's sweet--not aggressive--just scared. The team handled his exam and vaccinations with patience, calm, and confidence. They clearly know how to work thoughtfully with nervous animals, and that meant a lot to us. I also really appreciated that they offer happy visits, where you can stop in without an appointment just to help your pet feel comfortable with the vet and environment--no exam, no stress, just positive exposure. Beyond all of that, this is simply an outstanding veterinary office. Everyone is incredibly kind, organized, professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable--what more could you ask for? It's clearly a locally owned practice, not a corporate chain, and that shows in every interaction. I had a terrible experience at a corporate vet prior to this, and honestly, I'm grateful for it because it led me to Chateau Veterinary Hospital. Brought my dog in who was actively choking on a piece of a bone for emergency services. He could barely breathe and was very frantic, my husband had to yell at the people for them to even help our dog from choking. And instead of providing services to help him, they're demanding payment first. Like our dog could possibly be dying but all you care about is money. Which led my husband to say "you're only here for a check" which I completely agree with. We could've put a down payment and were calling in family so we could cover the bill ASAP so our dog does not die that night. I have had friends with similar issues with emergencies for their animals that went here and they were also refused immediate medical care in an EMERGENCY SITUATION because they did not pay almost immediately but would have by the end of the appointment. You do not care about animals at all and it is very clear. We will never be back and frankly I would rather go somewhere more expensive if it means my choking dog would get immediate help. Because in those moments we thought our precious 2 year old dog was going to die due to negligence of the staff. read more

First visit. Was able to get an appointment the very next day, first thing. Very accommodating from front of the house and back of the house. Jaël was given a bandana that was sprayed with a calming solution for her nerves. EVERYONE is welcoming and gentle with her. She was seen immediately. They had already obtained her record from her previous provider. She was spoiled with treats and babied. Super attentive and caring. Was a bit more expensive than her previous vet in Texas. We were blessed to have so much time with such a wonderful dog, and he was blessed to have good health. These last couple of years his age was catching up with him, and no matter how big the issue, Chateau Veterinary Hospital was always there to handle the medical problems. Throughout all these years, Rocky could not have received better care anywhere. Last Wednesday our baby collapsed and I rushed him to Chateau Veterinary Hospital. I jumped out of my car caring my baby and ran into the inside. The young staff saw me running inside carrying Rocky in my arms, they were ready. And immediately took over. My wife and I spent the next hour with our baby Rocky, and we were there as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I came here for the first time today with one of my dogs and worked with Dr. Joubert. She and the rest of the team were so incredibly welcoming and communicative. My pup has a lot of anxiety and they were so patient with and kind to her. They let you know throughout the visit what your estimate is so that you can decide which services you want and what total you are comfortable with. I appreciate how user friendly their app is, and I enjoyed getting cards and emails from the office after Lola's visit checking up on her progress. This is down right the best vet I have every had the pleasure to take care of my tica, She is a Persian cat with a very squished face. She gets a lot of sinus infections and they see her regularly. I must say Dr. nix is amazing. She checks on tica days later to make sure she is ok. Very very very friendly staff. This is where I bring my spoiled and overweight golden retriever for all of his health and grooming needs. It's right around the area I grew up in, close to the parent's house. Everything is awesome about this place, except that it's very expensive. My dog's food... $80 and it only lasts less than 3 weeks. And not just the food, but their services. It is worth it. If you love your pet and if they're part of the family, then they deserve the very best, right? Side note: my dog is male and every time I send him to get a bath, I pick him up and always find a bow in his hair. I think its hilarious, but it may be damaging his ego. read more

I see these guys twice a month, and at times have been in every week. So I believe my review should be taken into consideration. I adopted a beagle back in 2017 who had a bad case of the heart worms. I set up the Initial visit Riley with them, I had been lead astray by the rescue group on the true treatment for Riley's heart worms, and I was caught off guard for the treatment to come. But everyone at the vet was sympathetic and worked with me to get her taken care of. Riley was fantastically taken care of and I knew this was the place to go. Earlier this year I was out In Thibodaux when Riley had got attacked by a wild cat and unfortunately due to the hours we had to go to a vet outside of chateau. It was the experience I had at that vet in Thibodaux that Reaffirmed how awesome they are at chateau. I did not feel at ease until I was able to get her to them at chateau to verify everything. We have seen all the doctors at chateau and have interacted with every tech and staff member there and have nothing but great things to say about them all. There are so many situations that have come up where they went above and beyond the call. So I sincerely and highly recommend them. read more

I've been coming to Chateau Veterinary Hospital for the last two years and brought both my pups and my cat to see Dr. Nix and Dr. Marchal. I initially went to Maple Small Animal Clinic but wasn't impressed with the vet I saw and, even though it's a bit of a drive for me, went out to Chateau. I will never go anywhere else! They have the sweetest office staff, knowledgeable vet techs, and patient vets. I had an emotional visit this week, when I found out my new rescue was actually chipped and I was faced with giving her back to her original family. Despite being busy, the staff let me stay in the clinic room and call my family, they were so wonderful and understanding. It's worth the drive and the extra expense. I get a phone call after each visit to make sure everything is going well, and the staff can make an appointment with very little notice. read more

I'm writing this during a bad time for our family. We used this vet since we moved here in 07 to take care of our cats. Recently our cat Stripey developed a discharge in her eye, so I took her there. She received eye drops after a problem at the desk; the vet didn't like the listed price for the drops, the office manager was out, so the vet changed the drops from the ones she wanted to something else. I had to ask twice for an antibiotic shot for Stripey . The next week, Stripey's eye wasn't any better and she had developed a cough and fever. My wife took her in and the vet gave her an IV. At this visit they thought it was a virus but didn't give her an antibiotic, only an IV for fluids. Stripey quit eating and started having trouble breathing so my wife took her in again. This time the vet thought it was bacterial; gave her a breathing treatment, recommended Lysine and other things. They did an X-ray and said she did have pneumonia; my wife asked them to keep her overnight, give her IV fluids and antibiotics and was told they didn't keep animals overnight. We were told to force feed her and give her a med to increase her appetite. Over the next day and a half, Stripey got worse and we decided to take her to another local vet that friends had recommended. Never once did Chateau recommend seeing a specialist or putting her into a pet hospital for in-patient care. At Pet Care Inc, they got us in and admitted Stripey for IV antibiotics and fluids plus other therapies. When my wife called Chateau to have her test results sent to the new vet, the vet at Chateau was upset we were taking her somewhere else and made my wife feel horrible. Needless to say, our Stripey died this morning after the staff at Pet Care did everything possible. The vets at Chateau spent a total of maybe 15 to 20 minutes total during 3 visits while the vet at Pet Care spent 45 minutes during the first visit examining Stripey and talking with us. I honestly think our cat would still be alive if we had taken her to Pet Care sooner instead of going back twice to Chateau. If you have a sick animal, take it to a vet hospital like Pet Care instead if a clinic like Chateau. The charges at Chateau were extreme for the care they gave. Only 1 antibiotic shot was ever given. We were told if we felt we could administer pills they would give us a script. When the amount if charges were questioned the Vet assumed we didn't want care given; as a matter of fact, the vet said very crappy stuff that hurt my wife deeply. I will never set foot in this place again. And I can't recommend this place to take care of any animal. My wife is devastated by the loss of Stripey, especially because we trusted these people and we lost our baby. I am giving one star only because I can't give them a zero. read more

A few years after Katrina my cat who was only 6 years old lost a lot of weight rapidly despite him eating a lot. We soon found out that he was diabetic. The staff at Château was very kind & empathetic. They knew how difficult this would be. Because of the nature of the disease for our cat, we decided that putting him to sleep would be the best option. We struggled with this and it was a very difficult decision but château veterinarian staff was very supportive. They even sent us a card telling us they knew how difficult it was for us to make that decision but supported us in every way. This card meant the world to me because we were so devastated he was sick. I mean.. who puts there cat to sleep just because they are diabetic?! Apparently, it's a very nasty disease in cats & they are very difficult to take care of. I am so appreciative of their support. read more

So i was at the beach in Alabama for a family vacation and decided to bring my dog. Needless to say my dog got very sick and i had to rush him to the nearest emergency vet hospital which was 45 minutes away. By the time i got to the hospital my dog was in very poor condition, so he had to spend the night. After spending the night at the hospital i was able to transport my dog to chateau vet hospital where they saved my dogs life. I don't have a lot of money but they really worked with me and truly seemed to care about saving my pets life and not about taking my money. Veterinary bills can get pretty expensive but i also understand that they do have to run a business. I had been in his position before, needing more veterinary care than I could afford. It is a painful experience to go through. You feel so helpless. I went to Chateau because I did more research on the place. I read about Dr Nix and all her work. I went to the clinic and saw for myself how clean, well staffed and friendly they are. When my dog had a serious problem, they followed up with me with a great deal of care and concern. After my dog was out of their care and with a specialist, they still called to follow up. I cannot say enough nice things about this place. Having a vet like Dr. Nix with her years of experience is a Godsend. I suggest that anyone interested in this place go in and see for yourself. I've been going to this clinic now for a year. Paid so much money time after time. Then to come find out that my dog has tested heart worm positive. The visit cost me over 650 and then they tell me it's about 675 for the 3 injections. I had gone there for a urinary tract problem for the dog. I asked them for the script as she will be on this forever so I wanted to search out a cheaper prescription. They got an attitude and refused the rest of my treatment for her heart worm. They are so expensive, and to top it off they refuse to give you any form of discount and with care credit they will only give you 6 month interest free. Care credit will give you 18 months free interest but Chateau Vet Clinic will only authorize 6 months. If this isn't crooked what is it. They treat this as a business not really caring for your animal. Absolute crooks. read more

They called me before my husky's surgery and after to let me know how everything went. They even texted a picture after the surgery. I truly believe my dog would be alive today, if Nix had NOT put him through months of pain/ agony, misdiagnosis, pain pills without knowing what's wrong, useless testing, special food purchases, Antibiotics- for what ?? different medications and NO ANSWERS TO WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HIM!! Asked but, never answered!!! HOWEVER....she was quick to keep up his expensive vaccinations, flea shots, eye drops and costly visits . $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I A different vet. simply looked over the mountains of visits and without hesitating gave him a $110.00 ultrasound test. Diagnosis: CANCER in his spleen (operable) which had spread to his liver (nonoperable) During our last visit, to put him to sleep, were sitting in the waiting room feeling hopeless and I overheard a comment that made our skin crawl. "Nix makes more MONEY $$$$$$$$ from a SICK animal than a WELL one!" I now totally agree!! When confronted by my credit card co. questioning the huge expenses and my precious dogs untimely demise, Nix's response was " THEY KNEW THE RISKS." read more
