Something was wrong with one of their machines, so they rightfully didn't charge us for them to send out the lab work. The visit was expensive, but extensive so that was to be expected. I was assured that my pet was taking her meds and she was doing wonderful. When I arrived to pick her up, the first thing the idiots informed me was "your dog hasn't taken a single one of her tablets". They straight up lied to me. My dog was on the verge of dying. I live in Gentilly. The only reason I drove to Kenner was because Avenue A and MSAH were closed due the vets having covid. I had just spent 5 hours waiting at Med Vet with my other dog. They were covered up with animals! I was going home to get Rowdy. Because of the fight I couldn't bring them in together. Med Vet recommended your clinic so I took Rowdy to you. Dr Erica C. came out to talk to me within 15 minutes. She told me she would call me when his blood work was completed and again when he was out of surgery. She was true to her word! I got a call around midnight and again at 3am!!! The morning vet, Dr Stephanie, called me around 8 am to let me know how Rowdy was doing. She asked me questions like what was his temperament usually like and really was interested in being able to tell how he was feeling! When Dr C came to work this evening she called to tell me Rowdy's legs were very swollen due to the number of bites and they were applying warm compresses. We discussed letting him stay for a few days so they could continue to monitor his legs and warm compress therapy. I was in total agreement! The bill is going to be a little steeper than what I'm paying for my other dog and I was somewhat surprised. I always thought Med Vet and MSAH were the most expensive hospitals in town! This vet is terrible. DO NOT USE THIS VET AFTER HOURS IF YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY. It doesn't seem like they ever actually have a vet in the building; they need to be called. If you have an actual emergency, your pet will probably die before a vet even shows up. We stopped using them as our primary vet years ago after one of our cats developed breast cancer. They recommended surgery, but only one vet could do it and they only did them once a week. There was a wait list of about 3 weeks. We took her to Metairie Small Animal Hospital and the diagnosis was the same, but we opted to have them perform the surgery since they had multiple vets capable of doing it and it could be done much sooner than Pet Care Center could do it. Prior to that experience we had taken our dog there after hours and he was diagnosed with kidney stones and the vet said he needed immediate surgery to remove them. We opted to bring him home instead and took him to a different vet for a second opinion. That vet said surgery could be needed, but if he's peeing and doesn't seem to be in pain, he could possibly live with them for his entire life. Our dog was old and we didn't want him undergoing any sort of surgery unless absolutely needed. With a prescription diet the stones never got worse and he died of old age several years later. Once we eliminated them as our primary, we still used them for late night emergencies since they are much closer than MSAH. On this most recent visit, we brought our geriatric cat in around 11pm because he was extremely lethargic. We told them he has IBD and might have diabetes. There was no vet onsite when we got there, so we waited at least 20 minutes, probably more like 40 minutes (I don't remember exactly) for her to arrive. They ran a few tests and the test for pancreatitis came back positive. She said he would need to be hospitalized for 3 to 5 days, given fluids, etc., to try and treat the pancreatitis. The estimate was between $1,500 and like $2,300 or something. We opted to have him hospitalized to treat him and see about transferring him to our normal vet the next morning. Let's pause for a second to talk about bedside manner. Based on the checkin report, I think we saw Dr. Bonnette and she would make Dr. House look like a people person or make Dr. Spaceman look like a competent doctor in comparison. She voluntarily explained nothing and even when we asked questions, she was of limited help answering them. It's as if she can't comprehend the standard customer may be ignorant about science stuff and what she spent years learning in college. She may very well be an intelligent vet, but her inability to clearly communicate what was going on made the entire process horrible. It was impossible to get any information from her regarding the diagnosis, the potential outcomes, or treatment options. She basically gave one or two word answers to any questions we asked. The following day, we call our normal vet, but decide we don't want to stress the cat further by moving him while being treated and planned to leave him at Petcare Center for the full treatment. We call a couple of times to check on him and don't get much. We called at 3pm and are told the doctor will call us back. We finally called back around 5PM and were told he was not eating and we should take him home because he was too difficult for them to deal with and the stress of the hospital was taking a toll on his health. Mind you, just last night it was imperative he be hospitalized for at least a few days, but now suddenly we can treat him at home. Total cost for all this ends up being about $1,000. Thanks to them not calling us back and finding out they want us to pick him up after 5pm, we are now looking at after hour charges at MSAH. The vet at MSAH see's his high glucose numbers and the fact we mentioned our normal vet said he may have diabetes and says she want's to do a urine test. While we are still waiting on the official test, she is nearly 100% he has diabetes and we have started him off on insulin. She also ordered a test that will show glucose levels over the past two weeks to get a clearer picture of all that. Why Pet Care Center didn't test his urine for diabetes is beyond me. They had him in their care for 18 hours. So now with an additional $700 spent we are treating him for diabetes and pancreatitis with a doctor that doesn't have garbage communication skills and need to bring him to our normal doctor at her first availability to see what our long term options are if he survives all this. We could have spared ourselves a lot of anger, annoyance, and probably some money by just brining him to MSAH right off the bat. So in summation, this vet is terrible. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would ! These people do NOT care about your fur baby ! I went in because my dog eye was bulging! They looked at her for 5 mins and said they needed to surgically remove her eye and it was going to be 1,700! The "doctor" couldn't tell me what was wrong she just needed to take her eye within 24 hours !!! I thought that was insane! She's a house kept dog ! Who's never had health issues EVER! She kept pushing the issue that she needed to take her eye! I refused that service. I was so upset I cried. She had a very smug look on her face as if she didn't care! She then ask my husband and I again to setup the surgery! My husband told her that was extreme and asked her if there was something else that could be done. I have visited this Vet Clinic for many years, all of my family used to go to this clinic also. Over the past couple of years the quality of care has gone down and the prices have constantly gone up. We had an emergency with one of our dogs around midnight one night and I called the clinic to let them know I was on my way to be told that the vet wasn't in the clinic but would be there once I arrived. Once I got there the vet still wasn't at the clinic and I had to wait over an hour for the vet to arrive. We were told that our 5 year old Chihuahua was having an epileptic seizure and had to be euthanized. I was upset ndappalled that we had to euthanize a family pet but that they had the nerve to advertise 24 hour Emergency but didn't have a Vet On-Call. I believe that if the vet would have been in the office my Chihuahua would still be alive. Then they still had the gall to charged me an emergency fee after I had wait around for almost two hours. This clinic should really be ashamed of themselves for the prices they charge. It seems like over the past couple of years you are paying for their fancy little building. They are double and triple what other vets are, save your money and go someplace else. They always replace the good vets that exactly cared and don't over charge you for the care. If the vets didn't push the overpriced services they were moved out of this clinic. The straw that broke the camel's back was when my other Chihuahua tore his ACL and this clinic wanted to charge me $2000 for the surgery which was crazy. I called around to other vet clinics and got the surgery done for $500. The new clinic staff was so caring and the prices they offered for all of the services proved that the Pet Care Center is robbing their customer blind. My entire family have left this clinic and are now getting great care for Vet's that truly care for animals and not the money. read more

I found my dog barely breathing at home one day, rushed her to the nearest vet which happened to be pet care center and they were able to stabilize her with some fluids. They took some blood work and did an ultrasound and X-ray of her organs and found everything to be normal so they weren't really sure what it could be but kind of gave me the run around saying it could have been a seizure or heat exhaustion, which is understandable since everything came back fine. The vet briefly mentioned something about her trachea looking lifted on the X-ray but it's "common" in bigger older dogs, so that was that and the heart was out of the question. The next day they did an additional ultrasound ONLY because I asked them to. They were about to send her home not knowing exactly what caused this traumatic experience I had to witness. They then tell me she had what's called anaphylaxis and they diagnosed this because they said there was a "halo" around her gallbladder and all the events that occurred during this event "made sense" that it was anaphylaxis and the halo was around her gallbladder. Also, her liver levels were off which relates to anaphylaxis. They sent her home with steroids. Three weeks later, the same thing happened and I rushed her back. This time a different vet saw her and said she wanted to keep her over night on fluids. She also said she would like to do a different X-ray view of the heart. She did that and saw her heart was enlarged so immediately stopped the fluids because the fluids can actually make a heart problem worse and that's exactly what happened. I went there to pick her up to bring her to MedVet to get an echocardiogram done and for further testing and she died right before I got to see her. The fluids made her go into cardiac arrest. They killed my best friend by misdiagnosing her and not doing the extra testing that needed to be done. It was unexpected and I am now left devastated after everything I had to go through and what happened to my baby....they should have taken additional measures and this would have never happened. read more

My parents dropped their dog off to be boarded over night at your facility, and without consent from the dogs owner you gave him a rabies shot. Had you contacted either of my parents OR checked the animals record which you had on file, you would have seen that he had already recieved his rabies vaccine. The absolute worst wait times for appointments. A minimum of an hour every time we have an appointment. I took my dog here as a walk in after he was vomiting for several hours and after 2 and a half hours I still had not been seen. The front desk employees were extremely rude and acted like I was invisible when I tried asking how much longer. I will never go back there . Truly disappointed after spending thousands of dollars here over the last two years. They are over booked and understaffed. I had hoped things would get better but after my last few appointments it's clear that is not the case. Services are extremely overpriced as well. We woke up and she was having some troubles breathing so we called pet care centre and they told us to bring her in. By the time we had gotten there she wasn't doing well at all, I was living my worse nightmare, I've had this baby since I was a child and the thought of losing her was making me physically sick. We were told that they had given her 2 shots which didn't work to calm her down, they wanted to X-ray her to see if she could have an enlarged heart, my fiancé and I couldn't afford it so I called my parents and they were just as upset as we were. The receptionist had tried to talk us into putting her to sleep and when I had asked if we could take her to the dog park and give her birthday treats we had gotten for her they told us that it would cruel and inhumane to take her home to die. So my we decided to go ahead and put her to sleep which broke out hearts, so we did. When everything was said and done I asked if they could cut the little bow off of her head because it had a lock of her hair in it and when they did they just chopped a silver dollar sized hole in her head. These people are amazing! I am only in New Orleans a few days each month and did not have a vet. My dog had an accident that was going to require sedation to treat and, I have a dog that's very - as in extremely - difficult handle. Dr. Sarah Gautreaux really went above and beyond for both my dog and me! I could not believe the care we got - tailored just to my "challenging" dog! I can now say that I have a vet in Metairie for any future needs. They really were great, it was obvious that they care so much for both the animals and their humans! Thank you thank you thank you Pet Care Center and Dr. Sarah! I also wanted to add that I found them extremely reasonable. Management is horrible‼ The general manager walks around and pretends like she cares about her employees but she doesn't. The whole time I worked there I did not once see her be hands on with a patient. Once the new company took over everything went completely downhill. I can't speak to the other reviewers complaints of Pet Care Center, but I can say that I have only been happy with the care my dog has received there. Our dog was a half lab half spaniel who recently passed away after 17 years. He's received most of his care from the PCC and Dr Michael. What really motivated me to write this review was the way they handled our pets final days. Our dog had been suffering from progressively worsening arthritis his last 6 months of life and was ultimately bed bound. When it finally came time to put him down we called PCC and they arranged for us to come in. The staff was compassionate, caring and were able to accommodate us during a busy weekend day. Yes it was expensive, but it was done with dignity and I never once felt as the staff was inconsiderate or insensitive. read more

DO NOT HAVE YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE!!!!!!!! I have a multipoo, her hair is very curly and does get knots here and there mostly her tail and some in her little poodle Afro. When I picked up my dog she was completely bald. They shave everything off. Everything. My dog is not homeless nor is she an outside dog there was no need for this what so ever. Her back and belly, legs, head, ears, face everything is shaved I can almost see her skin. Now I'm not sure if it's just pregnancy hormones or if I would have done this anyway but I cried after seeing her, cried all the way home, and ugly cried some more after that. I feel like someone just shaved my own child's head. I have never been so disappointed in my life. If I had any recommendations it would be take your baby to chateau veterinary. There is a lady there Janet who does a remarkable job, while she does cost a little more I'd rather have a beautifully groomed and brushed dog than a bald one and tears. read more

I see Dr Clare at the Esplanade ave branch ( who we love so very very much) and was sent here to the main branch for a X-ray. Dr Clare had called them so they were expecting me and everyone I met was super sweet. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and she even knew it was Gracie coming in for her X-ray. Every employee that even walked by told me hello or addressed Gracie in some way. We were seen by Dr Nick and I absolutely loved him. He Spent time going over the X-ray with me and even took the time to call Dr Clare before prescribing something for Gracie. He really seemed interested in finding out and helping Gracie with her limp. The Clinic itself is beautiful and also spotless. read more

I needed a safe, comfortable place to leave my cat while I was at Jazz Fest. Pulling up in the parking lot, you see it's a large, nicely maintained building. Upon entering, the desk clerk was helpful and friendly. She found someone to show me around and make sure I was comfortable with leaving my cat for the weekend. I opted for the "condo" which was $33 / day - a bargain so my cat could be comfortable for 3 days. When I returned to pick her up (aside from that she was naturally annoyed at being left), her space was clean, and it was clear that the staff had given her some TLC along with the basic food & water. Because she eats Science Diet prescription, I brought food with us so I don't have an opinion on food. If I ever brought her on another trip, I would definitely use their Cat Hotel service again. I've been bringing my dogs to Dr. Steve for over 20 years. When I moved back to New Orleans, on the advice of my brother I returned to this office (the fact he would travel across the lake to bring his dogs is huge.) although the practice has grown and the number of vets has increased, the service and care remain consistent. One of our dogs had an emergency visit and I was torn with how to bring him and get to work on time, they offered a drop off and I could pick him up after work (problem solved!!). My other dog had an emergency visit, while I was at work, they called to update me, not the staff, but the vet himself. This simple step alone was greatly appreciated. read more

First few visits were great...Dr. Erica Brooks is amazing and helped us so much with our new puppy, and we would still be going to this practice if she was the sole factor in our decision. However, every time I have brought my dog in, I have seen a different doctor that we have never met before and had a bad experience. When I brought my dog in for a simple case of diarrhea, I felt like the vet they paired us with that day took advantage of my concern for my dog by ordering unnecessary, expensive tests including a CT with IV contrast, X-ray, etc. "just in case" even though there was no evidence my dog had a bowel obstruction. I have no problems spending the money necessary to make sure my pet is healthy and happy, but it's not ethical to subject a dog to invasive treatments in order to make a buck when the veterinarian knows from years of schooling that the dog does not have a bowel obstruction (i.e. abdomen is soft and non-tender, bowel movements are happening, etc.). I felt taken advantage of at this practice. read more

We came to this veterinarian clinic with an emergency for our yorkie, Pru. She was in distress and needed prompt attention. The staff was all very helpful and sympathetic. Dr. Love helped us make the ultimate decision to put her to sleep but kept her comfortable until the end. Crystal was very helpful with handling paperwork as we said our goodbyes and we are very thankful we had her support. Completely aweful. They have a no turn away policy when it comes to boarding animals so PCC always over books kennels. When they run out of room, they take all the dogs and shove them in pop up kennels and stack them up and down the hallways and the in the different offices and storage rooms. There are currently 4 kennel technicians that work because management underpays, overworks and refuses to hire more staff. Well, we took my rat terrier into Pet Care Center to have her teeth cleaned with sedation, because we were told that's the way its done. So, I think mid way through the procedure my wife got a call saying everything was fine. Thirty minutes later she got another call, please come to the center your little dog is not doing good, we lost her during the procedure. YEP, THEY STOPPED HER HEART....they got her back breathing, so we waited hours, actually days for this little dog to come out of the anesthesia.. Fast forward 3 weeks....she died from heart complications!! Perfectly healthy dog other than dirty teeth dead three weeks later. That idiot woman doctor(I use that word lightly) over medicated and killed our little girl. Not one test done prior to sedation, we weren't even advised of possibly having her tested.
