AWSC Shark Center Chatham - Fact

Small but cool! I…read moredefinitely learned a lot about sharks the day we toured the center! We had 4 kids ranging from 1-10. The two older kids 8 and 10 obviously got the most out of it but it helps that there are a lot of visuals (displays, photos and video clips.) The kids asked us a few questions. I have to say they said it was ok but later in the night I quizzed them. They were easily able to spit out a few things the learned that day so I would say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Heather, the person who checked us in, we really enjoyed talking to. She amde us laugh, we made her laugh. We lingered for the last 15 minutes of our visit just chatting her up about how she got into sharks and she has some interesting encounters! Thanks Heather for educating and entertaining us! Why not 5 stars... very small. No actual tanks with baby sharks on site and it cost us $30 to get in but it lasted about 30-40 minutes total. In my opinion, not enough bang for my buck.

Super cool group doing super important work, helping to educate the public and inspire curiosity…read moreand wonder for these awesome animals. To be perfectly honest, I don't know and have never met any of the folks involved with this group but I see and hear the results of their work constantly. Just over the past few days (it's 12/30/17 now) they've been involved with 3 shark autopsies that appear to be a result of "cold shock", which basically froze these sharks to death! Whoa. That's crazy cold. I happen to be on the Cape right now and can attest to how cold it is to the point where Cape Cod Bay has frozen over quite a bit, which is insane when you realize it's SALT water! Anyway, these folks are doing really cool, important and interesting work - glad they are!

After a through investigation we had noticed what looked like some mold spores in some areas of the building on the walls. I was recommended to Leo from Healthy Homes a certified mold inspector and remediation contractor located in Chatham Ma. Leo was very prompt and very experienced in all areas of mold. He performed several sample tests throughout the building and sent the samples to a certified lab. The results came back and showed the areas that a specific mold was present and it could cause headaches and nausea in very sensitive people. Leo recommended a through cleaning with special mold cleaners for the entire facility. Leo was able to determine it was not present in any of the wall cavities or heating and air condition duct work which would of cost us several thousands to have to replace. Being a non for profit Health Care organization Leo fully understood the cost complications and was very honest in his recommendations. We followed his recommendations and he was able to do a full clean of the entire building. After Leo finished he did a new sample test and sure enough it came back negative and our employees immediately noticed a difference in the air quality and the issues they were having went away. I would highly recommend Healthy Homes as Leo has such a vast knowledge of this industry and is very trust worthy always looking out for the most cost effective way to solve your air quality issues and is very pleasant to work with. Get here at least 30 minutes early to score a great seat behind home plate and settle in for one of the best free activities you're likely to have during your summer vacation. Made up of college ballplayers honing their game during the summer months, the Anglers have called Veterans Field their home since 1927, and the ballpark is still one of the best places in America to soak in the nostalgia of our nation's favorite pastime. Baseball fans will appreciate the history and the character of this simple but glorious diamond, where legends like Thurman Munson, Jeff Bagwell and, yes -- Aaron Judge, once ran the bases when they played in the Cape Cod League. The games are free, but donations are accepted for the programs and it's hard to pass up the cool merchandise on sale behind the broadcasters' booth. Hot dogs, burgers, snacks and cold (non-alcoholic) drinks are also available for purchase. Parking is available in the adjacent Community Center lot, and the ballpark is just a short walk from Chatham's adorable downtown. An essential experience for any summer vacation on Cape Cod!
