We travelled from far west USA to Cape Cod watch great baseball and watch up and coming (by…read moreinvitation only) baseball players for 5 days. The games are in the evenings as the players train or are in/conduct clinics during the day. This is baseball at its finest--games played nightly at 4-5 locations locally (longest was about 40 minutes away) at well-maintained high school fields. Donations are encouraged, otherwise games and parking are free. We were there during the draft, and as they introduced players (who came from all over the USA) they reported what major league team had drafted the player. Very fun, up close and relaxing. There are the usual hot dogs and snacks, it is extremely casual; most sites have bleachers but bring you own chair is just fine. Very family oriented, lots of happy kids. There is a surprising number of things to do during the day, including a white sand beach, water park, pirate museum, mini golf, and day trips to Plymouth or Hyannis, some very nice local restaurants (mostly casual dining) and plenty of seafood. This is a casual adventure, no stuffy restaurants or locales. Lots of local resorts, but choose carefully. If you don't have kids, most hotels are oriented to kids and kid activities and feel a bit like east coast summer camps. There are a couple chains, like the Hampton Inn and Suites in Yarmouth that provide an option.

Nobody has reviewed the Cape Cod Baseball League?…read more Heavily funded by MLB, ten teams of some of the best college baseball players stay with local families and play summer baseball using wooden bats. Games are free and take place in numerous cities on the Cape. The League produces many future MLB players. The Giants' Brian Wilson and A's Matt Carson both played for Hyannis in the CCBL. We saw a game in Hyannis (on the high school campus). Falmouth Commodores v. Hyannis Harbor Hawks. The Hawks won on a walk off double. Good times. It was a lovely night and since it was a makeup game for a previous rain out, hardly anyone was there. Bleacher seating. Locals also take blankets to sit around the edge of the field. A nice park with concession stand. I'm sure games get more crowded as high season kicks in at the Cape.

This is a must when visiting the cape…read more Games are free and there's plenty of parking in the lots at the Yarmouth-Dennis high school where home games take place. There are bleachers, however they tend to fill up quickly so I suggest bringing a lawn chair. There's also a concession stand and they sell all sorts of merch during the game. There are also restrooms on site. We got there kinda late but were able to find seats in the bleachers. I suggest going early as games tend to get packed.

The interns who run it are all college students from around the country and they do a hell of a job. They are all so nice. I even met someone who goes to University of Miami where I went, awesome. They have ballpark food like hotdogs, hamburgers, peanuts, pretzels, etc. all reasonable priced. Kids are everywhere running around, great family time. Bring your chair or sit in bleechers. There are about 10 teams all over the Cape. The redsox are the closest team to me, so I went to the Yarmouth highschool and they played Wareham. Great fun.

This amazing beach is one of those places that makes me so happy every time I visit…read more I have lived all over the USA and been to a lot of famous beaches, but this one will always be in my top 5. This is my favorite beach on the whole Cape too. LeCount Hollow adjoins equally beautiful Cahoon Hollow Beach, the parking lots are a very short drive from each other. You will have an identical experience at either of these beaches and I recommend both. This beach reminds me a bit of some of the beautiful California beaches that I have been to with it's majestic dunes. I love how you feel like you are removed from civilization when you are down on the beach. So peaceful being here, especially before the Cape's peak tourist season begins. The biggest negative is the very large dune you have to walk up and down to access the beach, this is especially challenging with loads of beach gear. This past summer nearby Cahoon Hollow has some serious erosion troubles with the dunes. Also, paying to park is quite steep, but if you come in the off season it is free. Luckily they do have actual bathrooms here, not just the grimey porta potties.

Be ware that you will need to go down a steep sand pathway to the beach. It's not really the going down part but the going back up. We saw plenty of people having to stop multiple times on the way back up because it is tough. There are lifeguards on duty until 5pm and the crowds weren't horrible because one needs a parking sticker to enter the beach. On the on-season there is someone stopping all the cars going in to make sure they had the appropriate parking sticker.

Great to swing by here after dinner in the area. I love walking beaches but the sand here is rather "fluffy" and loose which can make it harder to walk if you're not walking right at the waterline. There are often nice tide pools which can be warmer when it's cooler out.

It's only 30 minute parking, but honestly, how much time do you need? It was very beautiful, but man what a walk up and down to the beach. There are portapottys, and they are not clean. Overall, it's a must do, but not a lot to do there.

Chatham Lighthouse is a nice highlight of Cape Cod, offering stunning panoramic views across North…read moreBeach Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Perched on a bluff overlooking the water, it's a great spot for pictures and great scenery. This old light house was established 1808, had a deep maritime history. The lighthouse is still active and maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. Though it's only open to the public one day a week--Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:30 PM--the trip is worth planning for. Theres a short presentation about the lighthouse's history and even take a tour up into the tower. A word of caution: the steps are narrow and steep, and the final ascent into the lamp room involves climbing a near-vertical 90-degree ladder. If you're in search of a nice Cape Cod experience, Chatham Lighthouse is worth the visit.
