Red Wilson Field is one of the most iconic baseball destinations on the Cape. Since I was a little…read morekid, my family and friends have been coming back every summer to watch the Y-D Red Sox take the field in the Cape Cod Baseball League. As far as Cape league ball parks go, the amenities are okay. Like a few other parks, the field does not have lights, which prevents it from hosting late games. The field of view for fans is also tight. While hundreds of people pile into the park, they end up bunched up and strung along the foul lines. The park is fairly flat besides one ridge, so there aren't high vantage points to spread people along. You either sit on the bleachers or try your best to squeeze your chair somewhere. Despite those limitations, a Y-D Red Sox game is an unforgettable experience. The park has a couple legendary food options. NOW BATTING: the Sinker Burger, the Hurler Burger, and the Boston Screamer. These bizarre burgers are served on donuts (jelly, plain, cinnamon, sugar, Boston creme). It's an essential must-try in the Cape Cod experience, unless you have high-blood pressure. There is also a pitching cage for kids to test their speed and plenty of room away from the action for people to throw the ball around. Some of the older volunteers have been there for over a decade and it's as wholesome as CCBL experiences come. I've seen some classic Y-D Sox teams and amazing Cape players grace this playing surface. One moment you're seeing Kyle Schwarber win the championship with Wareham, and the next he's winning the World Series with the Cubs. I seriously recommend making this a destination if you're visiting the Cape!
