Great spot for handmade pottery! Friendly, down-to-earth staff. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. This is a perfect place to find unique gifts for holidays, weddings, anniversary gifts, etc. My husband and I received a hydrangea salad bowl as a wedding gifts 10 years ago, and have used it hundreds of times ever since. The owner acts like she is high and mighty. They made a piece of pottery for a wedding gift. It was blue hydrangeas and there were pink spots around the piece. In my opinion, it looked like there was something wrong with it - it was flawed and I was not happy with it. She tried to tell me it was supposed to be like that. My Mom and family have been shopping there for over 25 years. No pieces we have ever purchased had this flaw in it Or we would not have purchased it. She was being super difficult and had such an attitude and was unwilling to accommodate me. She wanted to give me a gift certificate for the price I paid for the piece. I'm sorry but if your're unwilling to work with me and re-do the flawed/defective piece then I don't want anything else in your store. Give me my money back! I don't trust you nor do I want to do business with your store anymore When I told her that, she said "Good". If you want to be treated like crap and not be appreciated for your patronage, then go here. Otherwise, steer clear of "Jade" and the Chatham Pottery shop. In the past Chatham Pottery has been a wonderful destination for beautiful pottery. The pottery was made in Chatham and you would be proud to give a piece as a gift. The shop has since been sold and the quality, customer service, etc. has gone out the door with the new owners. I went in yesterday to purchase a piece to gift to friend "back home". When I found an item that I thought would be suitable it was less than perfect. In addition, we asked if the shop still had the wonderful cards that accompany telling the story of Chatham Pottery. We were told by the sales girl, "We do not have those cards anymore and you can see the Chatham Pottery stamp on the bottom." No need to shop there for a fine piece of art made in Chatham; it doesn't exist. read more
