I would give this business 10000 stars if I could. i just had my mothers services here Thursday and everything was so smoothly and seamlessly coordinated. Quiana was amazing and so helpful. She helped with all of our needs the day of and checked in very frequently to assist as I had a very particular vision and set up in mind and it came out beautifully. Everyone working on my mothers service was superb. I used their Pastor and he was also amazing. The organist who also sang during the service was very very talented and I highly recommend, I wanted to thank him but I didn't see him after so if he sees this - THANK YOU!!! It was also beautiful inside, very clean and bright with gorgeous crystal fixtures. I needed a gorgeous place to celebrate my mom and this was the perfect match. Most horrible funeral home and experience . My husband's family and sister paid for and excluded me his widow of 23 years from the funeral arrangements against my husband's will and wishes. The female funeral director had me sign under duress and before the wake cremation papers after she initially stated his sister can do whatever in charge of the funeral. After I showed the female funeral director our marriage license then I was all of the sudden the next of kin. I was the first person there at the funeral home before his mom and family. I agree with the other negative reviews they're unprofessional and don't answer phone calls and emails. My husband didn't want a funeral with his family and his family knew that I would have had him cremated without any viewing or funeral. I never heard of that funeral home and I would have had a memorial service two years or more after his death. Someone else or another widow this funeral home exploits and abuse for money will sue this business and shutdown all the funeral home sites. March, Vaughn Green and Calvin Scruggs are better than this Walmart discount brand funeral home. read more

I want to first start by saying, "Thank You" to the amazing Staff at Chapman-Harris Funeral Home at Belair Road Location. The first call to arrange the service, and to see what services they provide was nothing short of excellence. Our family had some channellges, and wasn't sure if what we was going to do trying to finalize the homecoming of our loved one. Once we had decided to go ahead with that funeral home it was the best move for us. We were able to stay in touch with the director of the funeral, and she herself had reached out as well to see how things were coming along. We didn't feel rushed or mistreated. Everyone that we encountered, spoke with on the phone, all was handled in a professional manner. In the end Our family was pleased with the results of giving my loved one beautiful homegoing. Awful experience. Our first apppointment was unilaterally canceled by them. Our loved one was not cremated timely. Now three days after the promised delivery date, we have just been told we have to travel to another location to pick up. No advance call or email. They do not return phone calls. We witnessed Jasmin sitting at the desk while the phone rang non stop. They lack in communication skills and Jasmin is void of empathy and basic professionalism skills. Very disappointing experience especially while grieving. I type this email as I sit in the parking lot, two hours later still waiting for remains. Apparently they neglected to have the urn sent here, you know....where the ashes are...Between Rodney and Jasmin, they are going to put this place out of business. Never again!!! Do Not Do Business with this establishment. The experience makes dealing with the death of a loved one 500000x harder. read more

10/10 would recommend!!! From beginning to end, Chatman Harris was completely professional and amazing when caring for my mother. You never think of planning your parents funeral at a young age, and the way Quiana helped us plan, I felt like things were already taken care of. I never felt rushed throughout this process, or taken advantage of. I actually felt as though each need was met. Almost every phone call was answered, and if not answered, returned promptly. You don't realize how much you'll be contacting a funeral home during this process. I can't express fully how grateful I am for the directors at Chatman Harris. Even adding last minute changes to wardrobe and make up. It just all worked out. I know my mom is completely happy with how things turned out. I called and told the funeral director, Quianna, that I was not happy with the facilities for the funeral. Quiana was rude, argumentative, and spoke over me, raising her voice louder and louder. I had to say to her stop speaking to me like a child and over me. When she kept it up, I had to say goodbye, Ma'am, and I hung up the telephone. I called back, and I asked if she would support a church funeral service. She said yes. I called my friends and ST Thomas Church, which was the day before the scheduled funeral. ST Thomas Church said yes right away, Barbara Parks, was so kind. Quianna was right about one thing, my family, especially my sisters, who knew the neighborhood, should have told me before I came from Texas. I didn't understand Quianna's disrespect until my sister shared an email she sent to the funeral home--that my other sister, who also didn't come to family meeting with funeral home, used my Father's power of attorney to try to cremate my mother. My sister told me that Quianna would not give them my mother's remains unless they reimbursed me in full. Finally, Quinna said they had been calling a lot, bothering her, although she didn't mention what it was about. Quianna said she treats everyone the same, no matter if they pay or not. But my sister, who didn't pay anything, said she was nicer to her, and my sister called and wrote complaints on their website objecting to live-streaming and my mother's photo and obituary on the website (Settled by cancelling both). I am very disappointed that Quianna refused to publish her obituary without the birthday. My sisters had objected to my mother's birthday showing. I want it published now with the birthday, as some time has passed. So, my brother and I paid for services we didn't get. The Chatman-Harris viewing room is exceptionally nice, but I was told we couldn't have our viewing there because they were full, and we would have to use the chapel. I asked several times if we could use the viewing room, and finally got a "yes." They were disorganized, and I don't know the reason for this because it didn't seem to be a normal state of affairs. Every day or other day I would get a call that they need this or that information, sometimes the same information I had given them. Right before the viewing, they called and said they need hair, a wig for my mother, and no family member had brought over under garments. I rushed to the store, then rushed over with clip in hair, and Ariel asked me for the hair. I refused, stating I would put it on my mother, fully ready to wash her hair and dry it with the towel I brought. As they informed me her hair was matted and, at the top of her head, an injury was showing. Ariel said she wasn't there yet, and they were still working on her. My sister had called and gave them the what for, telling them to fix her hair and make it right. The body was late, but our family viewing proceeded. They apologized they had her awhile so she wasn't as nice as possible, but she had no matted hair, she was dressed well, and there was no visible injury in her head. My brother and sister felt she looked good. Although yes, if they embalmed sooner, she would look even better. We gave them the information in my mother's birth certificate, but for "mother's name," they put "unknown." I asked them to change it, and they said they wouldn't, until I argued it wasn't our fault--they conceded, and said they would fix it. I appreciate that they took us on late notice, but I wonder if they were too busy. Generally, they did an excellent job. Ariel had already been kind throughout, and her professionalism and hard work made up for the rocky start and middle. The CD Ariel made of the photos I submitted was outstanding! Except she had removed two pictures of my sister when my sister was protesting the live stream, and told her she wanted them removed, after I told her not to remove them. My sister wanted them in after all. You see my sister cried and hugged me when she saw my mother at the viewing. She was very pleased, and I knew as a minister the family needed to see her remains after the way in which we found her--deceased on her kitchen floor. The bulletin Ariel did on the chosen bi-fold that I typed in my hotel was outstanding! At the funeral, I wondered why they played a tape recorder when I arranged for the pianist to sing "His Eye is on the Sparrow." He seemed like an accomplished musician, as at rehearsal and funeral he accompanied my solos well. But he wouldn't rehearse this song and Sweet Hour of Prayer, beyond singing a portion of Sweet Hour of Prayer, instead of the verses. However, the pall bearers and gentlemen supporting the funeral were nothing but professional gentlemen and all, gave excellent support. Lesson learned: "If your sisters disrespect you and your mother's wishes, the funeral home will disrespect you. My father in-laws body was entrusted to Chatman Harris Funeral Home, Bel Air Road, MD. After the first meeting in going over detailed logistics for his Homegoing Service, things thereafter was a downhill spiral of uncharted events. First and foremost, I've never had anyone in my family or otherwise talk about this particular funeral home. We've always dealt with the top 3, March,Vaugh-Greene and/or Wylie's. So, dealing with Chatman Harris, Bel Air Road, was my first and definitely my last experience. It's quite frustrating that while we met every task set and timeline given. The execution of services were below standard. My family had their visitation time set to view our loved one from 3-5 and didn't get into the room until well after 3:30pm . Moreover, we were crammed into a room with no air or water. Our elderly family members who had traveled were getting ill because it was 100 degrees on the outside and felt like 110 on the inside. Once we were finally able to view our loved one, the bottom of his suite jacket was full of lint (all his clothing was professionally handed over in a garment bag and everything pressed), his hands were ash and underneath his nails were blood. We were beyond aggravated and irritated. The day of the service the slide presentation was left at the funeral home, which caused the delay in getting things started. No one should ever have to experience such unprofessional service in laying your loved one down for eternal rest. There are no DO OVERS to make this right. Nevertheless, I can grantee you that NO ONE in my family or my immediate circle will ever be subjected to this kind of low quality, heartbreaking display of uncaring, lack of professionalism and tack experience that I am I immediate family endured, first hand.
