I soon realized he was just stringing me along, taking forever to return messages and had done little in the 1.5 years. He even forgot to call or send a letter when we had mediation. I only found out because he called my work and proceeded to ask me "where i was?!" my response was ~that I hadn't been told of the mediation appointment. Mediation was unpleasant as he was completely unprepared and out of his element. Even the lamest person could recognize the substandard work of this attorney. Eventually, the hospital offered a settlement figure, which was $200,000.00 less than what Mr. Cathcart said I would get. Naturally, I refused to accept the lowball figure and he became so angry, that he immediately asked a judge to remove him as my attorney, which was 3 days before going to trial. It was only after frantically looking to find another attorney to take my case, which was challenging. Attorneys don't like to take over lawsuits midway and especially attorneys whose done more damage towards the outcome. luckily, after a month of searching, I was able to retain someone else. Ironically, he had heard of Cathcart's reputation, being one of incompetence and substandard work ethic. It was only after his initial findings, that I was told Cathcart quit because he was completely unprepared for trial. Let this be a warning to all who are seeking legal advise from someone who truly is looking after YOUR best interests... because this attorney doesn't.

He thought it was the next day?! He arrived an hour after appt time. Please note for future probate customers: - Keep him on task, he likes to converse at $250 hr (Kay's cost $125hr, but if she contacts Patton, then your question/work is transferred to his rate). There wasn't any overview of paperwork to see the outline of procedures at the first meeting. Kay sent later: very confusing with messy verbiage outline - Call often to check on process! If they say it will take 2 weeks, call them in 2 weeks! The office forgot about my probate several times, and literally for 3 months one time. . . It was not a good experience, as I was going through shock, grief and mourning. The good news is that it's finished!:)
