This is our usual go to when we visit Derbyshire. The service is always quick and the food is reliable. Today we came during COVID-19 restrictions. You are required to use the NHS app to check-in to ensure that contact tracing can occur should a visitor later test positive. We were asked to wait at the benches facing the field with menus in hand. The cows and pasture is gorgeous. The weather is fine as long as the sun pokes out. Nevertheless we waited for a while as this is Spring break and many families are out here enjoying the views. We noticed that groups that came after us had been called and that the hostess who took down our information had gone on break. Sure enough, there was no record of us on the list after I inquired. The staff apologized for the poor communication among their colleagues and made sure to seat us at the next available. The server again apologized and took our order right away, including our dessert which was placed on hold until we were ready. The tables are cleaned immediately after guests leave. There are heaters placed strategically around the dining area however only the center one is lit. Thankfully we lucked out and sat by the heat lamp that was lit. The food came out reasonably fast. We could hear the cook shouting orders at the staff and it seemed like a well run cafe minus the hostess snafu. Our food was fresh and good tasting. The dessert was also fresh and delicious. Overall this place did well considering the disorganized start. It was true to the quality we have become accustomed to when visiting here. read more

I love this place - everything seems so fresh, organic and responsibly sourced that you feel like you're walking out with a bagful of good karma! :) I went with two couples who were each planning what to cook together that evening whilst I was just tagging along for a browse - and of course walked out with more stuff than either of them. It covers the works - dairy, preserves, sauces, a fishmongers, a butcher's, cakes, bread, booze, teatowels and much more - and the veggies are all so fresh they're practically still growing. A great selection of organic and locally-sourced stuff, though confusingly also found bits from the likes of Yorkshire and Devon, and reading the small print the Chatsworth House branded cider is actually bottled for them in Somerset for example. So it's not all local but they at least seemed to be supporting small independent farms and unknown brands. My highlights were the cheese counter as the smiley guy there let me try a yummy blue, and the Easter-themed chocolate section for all the cutesy treats (including mini marzipan hot cross buns and chocolate pizza!). I could have spent way longer browsing the crafty gift and homeware section too but everyone was already waiting for me outside, woops. I ended up with a haul of bakewell puddings (the local delicacy), cous cous, orange marmalade with scotch whisky (any excuse I know) and the favoured local cider of my cider-expert friend. The one sore point, ever the case with these places, is that you pay up for the pleasure, and it's a good job I'm not a local otherwise I'd be blowing the weekly food budget on one day's worth of food here :-$ A nice treat from the everyday shop for sure - make sure you pop in as part of your visit to Chatsworth House. The farm shop is 1.5 miles down the road and has its own large car park. Bonus novelty of a proper wicker basket to carry all your goodies around in too :) read more

Chatsworth Farm Shop in Pilsley is a mightily impressive farm shop on the outskirts of the Chatsworth Estate. It has a large car park to service both the farm shop and the adjacent conservatory restaurant. Inside is a vast range of produce that champions local farms and businesses. The instore butchers and fishmongers offer a wide variety of produce, including some more unusual meats like wild boar. There is also sizeable area offering fresh bread, biscuits, preserves and cordials. There is a good range of fruit and veg too, both inside and on a cart outside, alongside the farm shop's external seating. On the way to the tills is an impressive delicatessen, selling samosas, quiches, cold meats etc. Chatsworth Farm Shop is a great place to go to for that special treat or something out of the ordinary. The Chatsworth Farm Shop is located near the stately home that it owes its name to. If you don't mind travelling for fantastic food, I highly recommend this establishment. It is located in the beautiful peak district, making it perfect for people who enjoy the outdoors. It sells anything and everything, from fine food (meats, dairy products etc) to plants to unusually patterned umbrellas. If you want a unique gift, its worth a look. Prices are expensive compared to the supermarket, but if you appreciate good food, it's well worth going along to, even if just for a day out. read more

I love Sanj M's perspective that everything is so responsibly sourced at the Chatsworth Farm Shop that it feels as if you're walking out with a bag of good karma. A bag of pricey, responsibly-sourced good karma. The fact that things are budget-friendly here and yet I *still* opted to award 5 stars should help drill home: this place is special. Most of the things at Chatsworth Farm Shop are sourced either from Chatsworth grounds or tenant farms. In addition, the Farm Shop prides itself on bringing in products from other areas that are equally responsibly sourced / share similar philosophies. If you live locally you have the option of accessing their awesome fishmonger and butcher. Traveling from further afield we stuck more to the bakery / deli / cheese options, hauling things like: - preserves! We bought a jar of lime and pineapple marmalade that was branded with the Chatsworth logo and the words "duchess' favourite!". SOLD - the chutneys (hot banana chutney, please!) and curds (blackcurrant and raspberry, don't mind if I do) were awesome. We have been eating the curd with a spoon. Straight-up. That's how we do. - the scones were lovely (by the time we got there, just cheese remained). We also bought a Victoria sponge cake, which was notable in part because it wasn't overly sweet. Would absolutely like one for my next birthday *hint* - great selection of quality cheese. Most notable: charcoal cheese, blending ground charcoal with cheddar. Weird? Sure. But also delicious. - we went a little craycrayBONKERS at the deli counter with all the scotch eggs and pies. It's picnic season after all! Salmon hand pies, pork and mango, brisket and smoked beetroot and my favourite (and most bizarre in text): chicken, honey and grape pie. SO AMAZING. Yelp note: I ate portions of 6 pies the day I went to Chatsworth. JUST SAYING, wear comfortable pants if you do as I do. Also: nice weather? This is THE place to stock up for a picnic in advance of some long Peak District walks. read more

My family and I stopped here to buy provisions for our dinner while visiting Chatsworth House,. This market is in a restored farm house. For sale are a wide range of local produce. The fruits and vegetables are fresh and bountiful. The cheese and dairy selection is amazing. They also sell breads and chocolates. The parking lot is kind of small for such a popular place but they must be doing something right because Chatsworth Farm Shop is packed with customers. Stop here while in the area to indulge in locally produced food! read more

This is a fabulous shop with a huge range of organic produce and even better, local produce. The views from this place are stunning, and deserve to be viewed with afternoon tea in the attached conservatory cafe. I found the prices to be too high for me to shop here on a regular basis, which is unfortunate but a consequence of good fair produce, but it is a good place for some special treats. read more

This is a massive farm shop with loads of choice in organic foods and local produce. It sells everything you could want, from game shot on the estate to locally produce vegetables. They also stock a wide variety of organic and health foods and drinks as well as fresh cakes and a good deli counter. The location is also great, although not near to Chatsworth House! However, you can easily spend an afternoon browsing and enjoying coffee and cakes in the tea rooms. read more

Chatsworth Farm Shop is worth a visit on its own if you're in the area, and definitely if you're visiting Chatsworth. Where else in the region can you buy wild boar and half a sheep? It has a truly excellent selection of locally-sourced speciality foods, including a huge selection of tasty-looking cheeses, meats and pies from the deli, Cartmel sticky toffee pudding and other temptations. The service is also a cut above the norm - you get a proper wicker basket to carry your shopping in, the staff are friendly and look the part too. It's not AT Chatsworth house per se, but it's nearby - so check directions if you're only going there carefully first. read more

A traditional butchers guides customers through the selection of meat, poultry and game while the bakery that is there offers fresh from the oven treats - not to be missed - and the deli and fruit and veg offer the very best of local produce. read more

If you want to buy top quality fresh luxury food and drink this is the place to be.Just up the road from the famous Chatsworth House you will find this delight.Lovely vegetarian food can be found on the deli counter.There is also a fish counter and a meat counter where fresh game is available.Then visit the restaurant for a meal or a coffee.Not the cheapest place to shop but nice for a treat. read more

WE have shopped at Chatsworth Farm shop on many occasions and always for a pre Christmas shop. The quality has been good and we have been more than satisfied with our purchases. However we are sorry to say that this year we were disappointed with the quality brushed Marfona potatoes [ product code 2872 ]. They were already beginning to sprout when the sack was opened, each potato was ENORMOUS , far too big for two people and the quality of the potato was not up to the normal standard as a lot of black had to be cut away. Great palce to buy unusual food and drink. A lot of the food is grown locally. It can be quite expensive but you do get great quality. It gets very busy and it even has coaches visiting. It is located by Chatsworth House and very easy to find. Well worth a look! read more

The Chatsworth Farm Shop in Pilsley, Bakewell is the posh sister of the regular farmshop. As you would expect - the range and quality of food is fantastic, the prices are not for those on low income - you pay for the quality. However, there are a few bits and pieces that are quite beyond the reasonably priced mark - even for a good quality product - so beware. The range and quality of meats, baking, cakes, dairy products, fruit+veg, the jarred, preserved and dry essentials and more, delicatessen is absolutely amazing. I might add a bit of warning - under any circumstances do not go to this shop on empty tummy, and bring your credit card!!! I also would say that the shop could be a bit bigger as often there are so many shoppers around that it is very difficult to get to what you want and to move around, also at popular times of the year - the queues at the tills are quite long - so prepare. Behind the farmshop there is also a small restaurant - some fabulous smells come out of there frequently :-) - a bit pricey but if you want a treat - do go in and enjoy. To summarise - the farmshop is small but mighty!!! read more
