Chattahoochee River Tubing is a great way to spend a day in nature near Atlanta, GA! An open tube cost $28 for a a 3-4 hour lazy ride down the river. We also got a strap ($1) to connect the two tubes and two paddles ($4 each). There are porta potties and changing rooms at the pick up location. They drive you to the river starting point on yellow school buses in groups depending on your designated time slot. There are plenty of guides there to show you were to go and help you get into the water. We packed a portable, waterproof speaker (you can also rent one from them) and insulated cooler with drinks and snacks. I'd suggest getting a closed tube for a few extra dollars. The water was very cold and I feel like it kind of stays that way year round. There are no porta potties along the way, so be prepared to release yourself in nature if need be. The river and park are well maintained and it serves as the backyard to many nice, big homes in the area, which was nice to look at. Overall, great experience. Having my 11yr old enjoy 4 hours in nature without electronics and only being entertained by a peaceful float, one paddle, and hours of conversation among ourselves was my favorite part! Tubing for four hours was just way too long. The sun was blazing and it was just way too hot to be out there for that long. The parking at the starting point was right, but the employees got everyone in expeditiously. The counter where you pay was also run very smoothly. All of the employees we encountered at the starting point t were amazing. Keep that in mind......at the starting point. They had port o potties and changing rooms. The port o potty was clean when we arrived and clean when we were leaving but out of toilet paper. They even had a hand washing station with water and soap. The rise to get to the river was short. The employees who gave us our tubes were also helpful and kind. Getting into the river was seamless and we were excited for our adventure. There were 8 of us and the employees at the starting point suggested we link our tubes in a big circle. It was cute but took us forever to move down the river. We unlinked at some point to help us move faster. The river and scenery were absolutely beautiful. We really enjoyed floating and watching nature. I would suggest either brining a tube for a cooler or getting an extra tube for a cooler. Some people had speakers and other stuff to keep themselves entertained. We had fun passing and being passed by other groups. Getting out of the river was interesting. A lot of us had never tubed before, so we needed some instructions from the employee and he was not giving any. He literally watched us struggle to get out of the water and our tubes and asked us to chase down a tube that was getting away. He was terrible. Whoever that was on June 22nd, put him on bathroom inspection duty. He doesn't need to interact with people. The ride back was longer, but still good. Must read: if you make a reservation online it does not guarantee you a trip for the day you book or a time slot. It'll save you time when you get there but you'll still have to wait. It's really first come, first served. And if you're thinking about waiting until their last trip of the day when the sun is hottest, you'll be waiting with lots of others who are planning the same. I suggest getting there an hour early too ... ie, if you want to be in the water at 1:30, arrive by 12:30. Ok, now to my review ... So, I've driven past this place for years but never tried it bc we typically do tubing further North just because the water is clearer. However, opted to stay closer due to time constraints. We did book our reservation online and got there for the last drop in around 2:30. Parking here can fill up fast, so be prepared for that. It's a huge gravel lot with a sand play area, picnic tables, concessions and bathrooms. You have the option of a 2 hour or 4 hour float. 2 hour is currently unavailable due to construction at their drop in point but cost is $10. 4 hour is around $23. You also pay a Parks/Rec fee. You can choose between an open tube and a closed bottom tube (I believe the closed bottom tubes aren't available until mid June). You can also add in a paddle for $2 and connector straps for a $1. I'd highly suggest the connector straps for not only connecting tubes, but also using them to hold gear. Also, a paddle is certainly useful to navigate around things in the river. Bring a dry sack too. Coolers are allowed and you can bring cans. Make sure to bring a trash bag for your stuff too. Also, buy a plastic phone protector that floats! We did the 4 hour trip. Basically, you load up into a bus and it takes your group (plus tubes and life jackets) to the drop in point. They go over some rules to follow and also tell you where the end point is (pretty simple, it's right before the second bridge on the left ... you'll see their staff with Orange shirts too). The water will be COLD, no matter the temperature outside. I've yet to get in the Chattahoochee and ever feel comfy, even after running 15 miles. The water in the Chattahoochee is released from the bottom of the Buford Dam so it's constantly around 50 degrees. However, it's very therapeutic! This portion of the river has no rapids and is easy going. It's pretty deep in some spots too. We had a BLAST! It was more like 3 and a half hours, and it went by fast. My only complaint was having to pee and not wanting to get out of my tube (there are sand embankments to pull over on). Highly suggest this company and river route! Jordan helped us with an issue as well and went above and beyond to resolve it, plus went an extra mile. He literally turned our experience into an amazing one, and made all our kids happy. Chattahoochee River Tubing was such a blast! We arrived around 11am and was directed by the parking attendant to a spot. Porta potties are stationed outside if you need a quick bathroom break before hoping on the bus that brings you to the river. We signed in and were advised to leave our towels in the car because they can get heavy in the tube. We decided on the closed tubes and I'm so glad we did because even though it was 90 degree out the water was freezing. I highly advise you to get an extra tube to hold all your things, and get the straps to tie the tubes together if you're with a group (or bring your own rope). We brought our food, drinks, and along with our bags and shoes everything fit perfectly in the extra tube. The whole river ride lasted about four hours so bring lots of sun block, water, speaker (but if you forget yours rentals are available), and an umbrella for covering if you're worried about burning. The only hiccup of the trip was we forgot our speaker on the tube (which we put in a pile with everybody else's tube at the end), but because we didn't physically bring it back we were charged a $40 fee. read more

I highly recommend making a reservation to ensure you get a tube but it is possible (if the river is very crowded) you might now get the kind of tube you want. My reservation was for closed tubes but the open bottom tubes actually worked out great because it was scorching and the tubes made staying a little cooler, much easier. The float was so relaxing and the sights you see along the way are serene. The bus ride is smooth and getting onto and out of the tubes was easy (you get on and off via a slanting boat ramp). I can't tell you how many times I've driven past here, but I never thought to go until my boyfriend's friend suggested it. So we got here to meet them, and it was a fiasco from start to finish, some of which was not the tubing company's fault. I brought my daughter and her friend as well since they had never been. I would NOT recommend coming here in May. It is way way too cold. It felt like an ice bath the entire journey. Also, I wish we had better information on the trip prior, because I didn't know about getting paddles and other viable stuff that would have been nice to know prior to making this trip. When his friend told us it's three hours, we both were shocked, because we had things to do, and that seemed too long. Also, I like staying active, so sitting in a tube that long sounded awful but with the girls there, we didn't want to disappoint them. My boyfriend was a trooper. I know he absolutely hated every minute of being in that cold water, and we got stuck multiple times which made our trip almost 5 hours somehow. If you do this, bring a paddle! It will save you. I saw a couple guides along the river, but neither of them offered to help us. And if you're looking for clean, this sure isn't it. Why don't they have a time frame for the buses to pick you up? We went to QT and missed our group's bus, so we had to wait on another one, and by the way, all four of us were left standing to our destination, and that's safe why? The stuff we brought had to sit in our laps the whole trip. Even the girls had a terrible time, and didn't ever want to come back. The guy who bought everyone a tube got the kids the kiddie vests that barely fit my daughter and definitely didn't fit her friend. So I tried to return those at the end of the trip, and was told I would get a callback the next day. Never got it. Literally almost drowned with NO help from the staff. A group of friends and I went tubing on July 4. The entrance into the water is off of a floating dock in which the staff tells you to just jump into the tube backwards by falling off the dock. It's not a slanted ramp, so you literally fall about 6 inches back into it. My tube flipped and since I didn't have my life jacket on yet, I was fighting the current. The water was extremely cold and deep (6+ feet in high season) with a fast current that was launching me downstream quick. I managed to grab on to the dock and struggled to hold onto it while my group threw me a life jacket and walked me around to the embankment. The dock has no ladder or stairs for you to get yourself back on if you fall and the staff member stood there watching the whole time without trying to get anyone else to help get me out of the water. read more

I was a little hesitant because the reviews are mixed, but decided to go for it anyways. It was great!! It's so affordable. $10 a tube and that's all you need to pay. I suggest buying some rope from homedepot before to tie all the tubes together, otherwise you'll be paying $1 a connector (which isn't bad regardless). There is a $1 park fee. So your totally price for a great afternoon should be around $12. Compared to other tubing companies, this place is the closest to the city and most affordable. You do have to wait around for a bus, but there's no rush during summer days. The water temperature ranges from 48-58 usually. When we went, the staff told us the water temperature was 57 and it was freeeezzzinnngggg. Couldn't even get my toes in the water (the temperature that day was 95+). Overall, $10 for 2 hours per person is not bad. Try it once but I wouldn't recommend it or go again. We always go to Helen but thought we'd try this place since it's about 10 mins from our house. The plus and minus are as follows: Pro: 1. beautiful easy float done the river that took about 2 hrs. Never got stuck or hung up on shallow parts and there's really no rapids at all. It's a nice smooth float. The float was not crowded at all at any point on the river, except during initial launch. 2. All the staff is super nice and try to be helpful. Cons: 1. This place makes no sense. We got there about 2.45, stood in line and paid then had to wait for about 45 mins in blazing sun and humidity because they didn't have any tubes. Bus load after bus load came and dropped off people, but no tubes. Finally got on the bus and a short drive took us to launch site. Tons of tubes. Just sitting there on the grass. I mean really. The communication between "base", "launch" and "end pickup" is broken. At "launch site" we had to hear a speech about how things work and then move to river to get in. All good. "End pickup" was smooth but again...tons of tubes hanging out and people hopping on buses to get taken back to base camp. Why did we wait 45 mins? There's a flow of people but no flow of tubes. 2. They sell out of tubes. What place who operates a popular summer activity would not have enough materials on hand? We were part of the crew that made the cut and got tubes but then had to wait 45 mins because they had no tubes. People after us were told sorry were sold out but please feel free to wait just in case. Total revenue loss. 3. They have a tent at "base" selling food and drinks. During the 45 min wait we went to get some cold water. Nope. None. Again, revenue loss. 4. Masks. No masks required anywhere including on buses that are packed to the max with no A/C and only windows open. No hand sanitizer to be seen anywhere. Will not go back. Watch out for this Jeff character, just because he has some "TUBING" power he feels he can be rude to people in need, I guess he let the tubes get to his head, and he feels like the tubing king.. it's a no for me. I should've read the reviews first. Parking was unorganized, but doable. We got to the river and the water was numbingly cold, that's fine it's not their fault. About 20 minutes into it, I noticed my tube was deflating. It became softer and water was getting in on the sides. We started to look for a side that we can pull into. As we were looking for a spot to pull over, luckily we had a phone, we called the tubing office. A man, JEFF, answered and we told him about our problem with my tube sinking. He asked what caused the hole, and my boyfriend said, "no offense, but how should I know? We didn't hit anything." JEFF then responded and called him rude, and said "if you're going to be rude I'm not going to help you. Are you going to be rude or do you want help?". I am sinking and we are in the middle of the river, we needed help. I was very offended that he responded so rudely, when we just wanted a quick solution or AT LEAST "sure we will be right there". I wasn't trying to diagnose the problem with this tube which could've leaked air from anywhere- I had no idea. We needed help. About 40 minutes later after we pulled over, BENNY paddled up to us with a new tube, he was amazing, he even brought us cold waters! I feel bad leaving one star because of Benny's exceptional customer service and we were very grateful that he was so kind and helpful. We carried on with the rest of our trip down the river. When we returned back to the office to return our connecting ties and paddle, we talked to JEFF about how rude he had been on the phone. Jeff was very defensive and called us both rude and had a smirk. He then exited the office and got in my boyfriends face and yelled at him and caused a scene. Very unprofessional and very immature. Highlight: I loved the river and the journey itself, I give them 5 stars but the company, I felt could have been more comfortable. You get to the place, sign waivers, expect to wait 30-45 mins for your bus. The drop off is only 5-7 mins away tucked behind abbots. Our bus didn't count correctly the number of tubes and life vests so we had to wait another 30 mins.. I recommend this company be more careful about counting its floats and inventory and perhaps even stock extras on the bus so as to not have people waiting for the next bus to bring extra for them. It's 10$ a person. Paddles are 2$- I highly recommend the paddles to help steer and honestly speed up in case it rains or you have no current. A 4 person raft costs more. We paid 64$ for our party of 3, big raft, and 2 paddles. They hand out Lipton tea but it's super sugary so bring your own water and drinks bc it will be a 2 hr ride and you will get dehydrated! There are port o potties but you can go to bathrooms at the drop off by the river bc those are usually parks and there are public park bathrooms there. Don't bring glass bottles. Put on sunscreen. Phones and keys are generally safe as long as you don't flip over on purpose in the water. The 2 hr stretch is quite long- it's by distance so even if you had to wait extra time, the distance doesn't change on the river and you still get he 2 hr ride. read more

We chose to go tubing here because of their COVID precautions, but the bus ride to the drop-in site did not match the experience we read about on their website. Our party of 5, all wearing masks, entered the bus first, and then a party of about 10 children and 3 adults loaded on, filling the bus to capacity. None of them were wearing masks. Once we stopped at the drop-in site, the bus driver removed his mask and gave the routine safety instructions which lasted about 5 minutes as we all sat in the enclosed area together. All other staff were friendly and wore masks. The actual tubing experience was great! We decided to choose this company because of their advertised pandemic protocol, and we were disappointed that it fell short. I would recommend Duluth RiverTubing under "normal" circumstances, but not if you are expecting enforcement of COVID safety guidelines. read more

We did the 2 hour tour which came out to be about 1:45. The river is cold, even in the summer. The staff here will try to up sell you to a closed bottom raft but don't fall for this. It's $2 more a tube ($12 vs $10). We all did the bottom raft and did not regret it one bit. It was cold at first but perfect once the sun hit you. Overall the experience was ok. They bus you up to a park, then you raft to another dock, then you get bussed back. We waited like 30 minutes for the second bus which was annoying. read more

I think of river tubing as a fun redneckian activity but it was actually invented by Princess Chumbhot of Nagar Svarga of Thailand in the middle of the 20th century. I say this because while I share a number of attributes with poor mountain people the world over, other folks are too high falutin' to enjoy $10 River Tubing and are more suited to hit Roswell and their $30 offerings. It says all you need to know in the name. What the hell do you think you're going to get for $10? Customer Service? It's teenagers and the occasional adult working out of a hot trailer on the side of the road. The parking lot? It's not paved, but it won't kill you. Park in the back and everything is going to be just fine. The add ons? Yeah, you have to shell out $2 more dollars so that your precious, unaccustomed rear won't touch the icy river water. But if you don't mind losing feeling in your cheeks, it IS $10. Transportation runs about every 1/2 hour. It's not a fancy shuttle. It's a short bus. But unlike high school, no one will humiliate you for the shorts you're wearing. As for my needs, $10 River Tubing suits them just fine. Worth it! They take you on a bus from the meeting point and you float for a few hours to another meeting point where they take you back. Super relaxing. If you're looking for a fun chill day event, this is a must! The single tubes are $10. You can't beat that!! I will let you know early... the parking is HORRIBLE and UNORGANIZED!! It was super frustrating having to reverse and squeeze through the lot to find parking. We purchased the 4 person raft which was $65. I will say the water in the Chattahoochee River averages about 50-55 degrees. So it will be cold! I recommend purchasing a paddle. Some folks were out there with no paddle and had to constantly get help to get out of the trees/branches. If you are having COVID-19 concerns... this place will definitely give you anxiety prior to getting on the river. You will be on a school bus that is jammed packed with people and even dogs!!! Most of them have no masks. There isn't much waiting space and there are no restrooms while waiting for your shuttle to the river. Once you get off the bus there is a building with restrooms. You'll hear their warning speech of what you can and can not do then you grab your tube and head to the river! They aren't doing the 4 hour trips but the 2 hour trips are just as good!! About a quarter of the way into our float, one of our tubes popped and we had to struggle to pull over to a muddy bank so we could adjust. There was nobody in sight to help and not a single way for us to get out of the river, if the people behind us hadn't had their phones to call the company we would have been stranded. The company didn't answer, we ended up having to call fire rescue because it was about to storm. Eventually a staff member kayaked up to us to convince us to float on in a storm. We literally had to be picked up by fire rescue and were greeted by gossipy and rude staff. No emergency plan was given and you are full on floating in the thick of the Chatahoochee, not in shallow water. read more

Mind you this is my first time A teenager was at the window very rude just pointing to the sign Pay for paddles and straps was told they do not have straps so I have to wait for another group to come back they didn't say it was a two hour wait until they get your money within hand that was fine I live five minutes away so I went home and waited for an 1 1/2 came back and groups was loading up did not hear my group name called so I went to the window and asked Jeff the owner he told me to just wait for my name which I did when the bus pulled off I want back to the booth and ask them how long of a wait Was told 15 minutes which turned into another two hours Very rude staff and a professional. When my group finally loaded up at the end of the day it was so crowded and overheated on the bus some people had to sit on their friends lap. When we get to the river the bus driver got off the bus gave some quick explanation about if you're not paying attention to some guy at the end of the river yelling to go to your left and if you missed it you were going to have to follow some trail no exclamation just some trail to get to the other side I'm thinking my head REALLY!!!! Again this is my first time,Then she just starts towing the tubes out calling group names I repeatedly tell her that two of our floats felt very low on air was told to wait till the end which we did to see if they had other floats. Got down to the river bed and there was no instructor down there no one to help you into the water nothing. NOW HERE COMES THE BULLSHIT!!!!! My son fell off his tube which didn't enough air due to a slow leak luckily he had on his vest and I was able to grab him and put him back into his tube then my sister fell off and almost drowned because there's no one there we had to paddle to shore very quickly and get her out the water luckily we were not that far from the loading point she walked along the edge of the rock bed cut her foot , she just told us to go along with the rest of our group Because we just paid $60 we were out here the trip was not fun at all. My sister called a Lyft back to the tubing location when she got there my car was towed because there is no one out there properly directing traffic to where to park had to pay $250 to get my car back I would not recommend going here if you are not a strong swimmer if you're not be prepared to die because no one's there to help you but the group you're with. read more
