Vorta Plate (comes with rice and daal)

A nice small cozy restaurant with nice ambiance. We have been to this place several times over past few month and enjoyed the authentic Bangladeshi food every time along with their wonderful service. They have quite a nice selection of traditional Bangladeshi meals, including breakfast platter. Some items may be quite spicy hot for guests not used to too spicy foods. Recommend that check with the server the spice levels. The serving size of most of the items are quite large, shareable among 2-3 persons.

. On this particular night was taking my mother out for her bday and decided to try something slightly different then the run of the mill Indian restaurants. Growing up in Scarborough and living in the city 45 years I have had my share of experiences with Indian cuisine across the GTA. Was surprised when I realized that I pass by this place on my way to work everyday and never noticed it. Decor 5/5 This place is very chic and modern. I love the look of the place and it can be quite an intimate setting, provided you don't have large families show up! This place is small but cozy. The one table we sat at was quite uneven. Service 5/5 Our server was excellent, very pleasant and explained every item throughly. She checked up on us often and was always recommending what to eat. Food 5/5 The food here is Bengali food and it's halal. It's not your typical Indian type cuisine. Frankly it's my first trying it and I loved it! We ordered : Spicy Fish Pakoras 5/5; Mini Bihari Rolls 4/5; Stuffed Paratha 5/5. The Main Course consisted of : Navrathan Korma 5/5, Lamb Biryani 4/5, Khichuri Letha 5/5. Overall the food was awesome. For dessert we had Paan Kulfi & Malai Kulfi 5/5 Value 3/5 Portions sizes were too small!! The lamb biryani did not have much lamb, as well as the beef. For a party of 4 we could have eaten more. The prices also are a bit on the higher side. I don't mind paying big prices if the portions also match, bit of a disconnect with that. Overall good place to checkout!

It's really great to have a restaurant so trendy cater to the Bangladeshi culture. I was super impressed with the ambiance of the location, the creativity on the menu and of course the food. We tried a lot of the items and were especially excited about the appetizers, drinks and desserts. Please try the paan kulfi, it's to die for! For the main course we had "biye bari khawa for 2" which was essentially kaachi biryani. The biryani wasn't the absolute best but still good. The portions were huge. Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait to take my parents to try it out!

Been in this city for over over 20 years and coming from a Bengali Background. I can finally say that there is a restaurant of high standards. Ambiance-staff and easy to read menu. These guys know what they are doing! The fuchka was good- but at $7 a plate and a hit Bengali snack. I feel it is a pricey but delicious and so we ordered like 3 plates regardless. I feel for 6 pieces the price is a bit overboard but meh- if they can do it and get away with it. Why not! I will probably still end up getting it when I go back. It was delicious but beware of the green chili's they are spicy. I loved it! I also tried their Goan green drink- which complimented the fuchka as a starter perfectly. It tasted like the Indian version of a mojito but full of spice and a mango infusion as well. I had the pleasure of trying 3 dishes as well-we got both variations of the Letka Khichuri (Bengali risotto). The lamb shank was roasted well and had a sweet and spicy sauce to accompany it. It was fall of the bone and considering it was only $15- GREAT VALUE! The Achari beef was really tasty as well but it got completely over shadowed by the lamb. Also got the roast chicken pulao- and the fragrance of that dish was magical. The chicken was nice and juicy and definitely not overcooked and dried out.Served with a nice tangy salad as well. I am a big fan of this place and want to congratulate them on taking Bengali Cuisine to new heights in Toronto. Pioneers in my book!! Everyone should try this for a new adventure if they want to diversify their East Indian cuisine- Bengali food is the bomb!

Finally a restaurant that does justice to Bangladeshi fusion food. The interior is tastefully done, and service is also very good. We had reservation for a group of three on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was very easy to reach, and we were seated immediately. The menu is not very long, but every item on it is solid. Or should I say, every item we tried were solid. For appetizer, we got the Chawk platter, which was really good. For main we had the Duck bhuna, Sea Brim, and Lamb Risotto. Each of the mains stood out on their own. The portion size is adequate, and the presentation is also tasteful. Finally, for dessert we got the paan kulfi, and I have to tell you, it is a must try. We really enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely return. I have heard good things about their Ramadan Iftaar specials. Cannot wait to try it out. P.S This is my pet peeve, and probably irrelevant, but I check the cutlery and dishes used in restaurants that I dine in. In this regard there is not a single place in the GTA that a South Asian restaurant has been able to impress me. Chawk Bazaar on this regard has done very well. I am very happy that they have paid attention to the minute details.

Ah the Bengali foodie in me rejoices!! Finally a Bengali Restaurant I can recommend to friends and not have to be there in person to help navigate! Most items were great - flavourful and presented beautifully. Great use of the small space and decor. Take your date, show off our Bengali food, take your family and tell your mom it's worth not cooking at home for once! The portions are very filling - brought more than half my Biryani home.

Very delicious authentic Bengali food. Decent price. Excellent service. Awesome drinks. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

This restaurant truly blew me away. I went with my wife, and we both enjoyed everything. The ambience was really nice, great vibes, great music. We tried a bunch of stuff from the menu. But what impressed me the most were their house made drinks! For Appetizers, we tried the Phuchka and Bihari Sliders, simply mind-blowing! For our mains I had the Chawk's Rissoto. It was probably one of the tenderest Lamb Shanks i've had. It comes with their signature pickle and an eggs fritata. A hearty portion for the price. My wife tried Duck 420, and we've already decided to bring both of our parents to Chawk Bazar to make them try out the Duck. It's the perfect amount of flavor and spice. We were sad to hear they were out their nihari, as I've heard great things about it. So we will definitely go back to try that. I highly recommend this place. Giving it a 10/10. It's the perfect Fusion of South Asian and Comfort food. A heaven for any food lover. The flavors are amazing, the portions are huge, prices are reasonable and atmosphere is really homely.

We made a large order for delivery, this is the roast chicken. The amount of oil in this dish was unexpected. Unfortunately it was not edible, and as I had ordered it for my parents, I was thoroughly disappointed. I will say That the customer service has been excellent through out.

I have not been this excited as a foodie in months

The apps are a bit on the pricier side, but the mains are well-priced. Apps: It was my first time trying chicken momos, which are spicy dumplings. Really good. I love the tuna kebab, which is flatter than a fish cutlet. The singara, which is like a samosa, was okay, but the dough wasn't cooked through. Main: I've tried several of the meat options, they were all new for me. There's always a thick amount of oil on top, but the masalas are all nice. Mejbani beef curry was spicy and okay. There was a lot of fat left on the meat, so it was a lot less than what it appeared. The Biye Bari chicken roast (curry) was really good. The beef tehari was too mild, not spicy at all. The rice they use here is a short grain rice with a bit of bite, not the basmati I'm used to. So I prefer the rotis. The luchi was great, it's a small poori. Desserts: Looks like homemade desserts. The doi was too salty for me, but my mom loved it. It is fermented yogurt, which tastes like extra salty, concentrated yogurt. Their jalebi was okay, but nothing special. I like the option to try new things.

Told the hostess/waitress/cashier I've never tried Bangladeshi food before so she suggested the Chicken Roast+Polau+(hard boiled) Egg and the Bhuna Khichuri + Beef. So grateful they had free Wifi to keep me busy during the short wait. Tried the Chicken Roast first. Oh my! It was absolutely delicious! There were two pieces of tender chicken covered in a thick, delectable, medium spicy sauce; hubby and I devoured it all! The Pulao (rice pilaf) was bland and I didn't care for the hard boiled egg. Next was the Bhuna Khichuri + Beef; it was just ok. The beef was swimming in oil, so I had to fish out the chunks and put them on top of the Bhuna Khichuri (rice and lentils). The Beef was totally overshadowed by the chicken roast. Next time I will order the Chicken roast with the more flavorful Bhuna Khichuri rice. I will be back to try out more menu items so I can bump up their rating, but in the meantime I'll give it a solid 3 stars.
