Two things. In the summer of 2024 my Vet was closed on a Sunday. My Vet charges less than $100 to remove a tic. Cheam View charged $500. Yesterday, June 3, 2025, I found an injured baby rabbit and Cheam View wanted $460 to euthanize it. I took it to the clinic for Critter Care in Langley who assisted the rabbit without charge. I was suppose to pick up my kitty's urn from cheam view veterinary hospital yesterday. When I called to ask if I can get her I was told she wasn't returned yet due to holidays it might be another week or so. She said she couldn't give a definite date. Which I know is a lie since we've gone through this process a few times. I called gateway cremation services to find my cat. There was no file on Luna. Cheam view admitted there was untagged cats in the freezer. Their excuse was "there's 2 freezers and we get caught up sometimes" they had lost my loved one. I went in to identify my cat because I've paid for her to be returned to me in an urn and I want MY CAT. They tried to show me a black cat with 1 orange leg, I had only seen the back end at this point (they were still trying to cover their tracks) they had to come out and ask me for a photo of Luna before showing me her. AGAIN I had to go through the traumatic experience of seeing my dead cat except this time she was disfigured from being dead a week due to this vets unprofessional work ethics. So there's a good chance that if your passed away loved one is or has been at cheam view vet you probably are receiving the wrong animal in your urn. The deserve 0 stars. read more

I wouldn't even give it 1 star. My dog was ill and all he could say was she was nostalgic!! He repeated it over and over and when asked if my dog was going to die he swore no, but she did, we took her home and she drank some water and became stiff as a board. Why would he let us take her home without mentioning anything that could harm her. Do not go here. read more

Dr. Chahal and his staff are amazing. They saved, on different occasions, two of my dogs. My one little, Nina, had been to three other vets who couldn't figure out why she was so sick. I went into Cheamview and they had it figured out in no time. Nina was admitted as she was so sick and was treated by Dr. Chahal and his staff and she made a full recovery. A year later the same thing happened to Nina and she would have died if Dr. Chahal hadn't of gotten to the bottom of what exactly was causing it. Knock on wood Nina hadn't been sick again. I take all my animals to this vet now. His staff is amazing and remember details about each pet and what health issues they each have. He also saved a dog I was fostering that had a puppy breech. I have been going to this vet for almost three years now and not once have I had any complaint about him or any of his staff. They are all very friendly and approachable. read more

My family is currently having a negative experience with the vet who saw our German Shepherd at Cheam View Hospital. One of the family dogs was brought in for an examination recently. The vet initially asked for the dog to be sedated for the x-ray. However, we refused as it would be an extra $200 dollar cost along with a kennel fee $20 to house the dog. I speculate that extra measures were recommended for the purposes of cashing in on more money as the vet had gone on and on like a salesperson of why we should do it. After the vet confirmed the diagnosis of cancer in the dog, the vet discussed options with us including amputation or putting the dog down. The cancer had not metastasized so we decided to take the dog home. We understood that the dog had cancer and that we needed to put her down at some point. However, we did not choose to do it immediately as we needed some time to digest the situation. The day after we went to this vet, we received a call from the SPCA. The vet had reported us to the SPCA for animal cruelty. We phoned the SPCA back as they had left a message but there was no one to answer the phone at the SPCA. The family has raised this dog for 9 years and has loved her as part of the family. It is unimaginable to be charged with animal cruelty at this point. Obviously, we could not have been that cruel as we had taken the dog to the vet to have her examined! I am angry with the vet. She did not mention about charging us with animal cruelty and the SPCA. Why did she not mention it? Be honest with the pet owners and talk to them. Don't resort to extreme measures. Her actions were back-handed. Where is the compassion? I am confident that the vet's rebuttal would be to say that her actions were in the best interest of the animal. However, her actions were extreme. I have lost confidence in the relationship between the vet and the pet owners. I also feel that vets nowadays are pushing for extra services like pet insurance in order to earn more money. We will be putting the dog down but not at Cheam View Hospital even though we are paying for another vet visit. I am wary of going to see the vet as it seems that if you do not give them more money they will find ways to get it from you! Under no Circumstances should anyone trust this vet. They told me to put my little dog to sleep because he has a lump on his neck & it was cancer . No test nothing just put him to sleep . Always do what I did Get another Opinion. My experience here was traumatically bad. Firstly, when I visited there, I was dissapointed by an unkind doctor. Just asking him a couple of questions about my dog's health issue made his facial expression obviously annoyed. So I gave up asking him further question, just asked them to give me the test results via email. Surprisingly, my personal details were all recorded wrong at the hospital database, including my name, my dog's name and contact number. (How is this possible??)Then I was shocked again because they sent me an email which contained nothing. So I politely asked them to send me an email again then the staff sent me only half test result. I called them again and asked her to send me the rest, then she snorted as if I have done something wrong. I cannot believe their mistreatment toward a customer who was consistently polite in this problematic situation. Is this a hopital or a hell??? read more

My golden retriever had an issue with his ear. We mistakenly took him to Cheam Clinic. This butchery clinic charged us $2000.00 for a botched surgery (according to a knowledgeable, reliable, veterinarian) and, according to a real vet, the surgery was done WRONG. My dog's ear had started to go necrotic (tissue dying) and as a result of the botched job and will now most likely lose his ear. According to the real vet, my dog has been in extreme pain for 3 weeks now because of the butchery done to him at this clinic. When I called the owner of the clinic to let him know what happened, he did not appear to be at all surprised, like this was not the first time he had experienced something like this, which was very concerning. His response to this horrific tragedy was to deny any accountability or liability and say that, even though he owns the clinic, it wasn't his fault because he didn't do the surgery. Basically, he expressed that he didn't give a damn about my dog or anything that had happened to him at his clinic. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAGUE. DO NOT TAKE YOUR POOR ANIMALS TO THIS SLAUGHTERHOUSE. read more

I brought my kitten to be spayed and they shaved the skin off her nipples. Her nipples were gone. The kitten was so sketchy when we got her back. Her belly button was seemed raw and infected. She really seemed to suffer even with the pain meds she was taking. I will never bring another family member/pet back to them. Goodbye! read more

Bedside manner was horrible. My family cat had to get put to sleep the day after Christmas as she was going through kidney failure. It was a hard situation for all of us and we felt not an ounce of compassion from the vet here. Our typical vet wasn't open as it's the holidays so we resorted to the only emergency vet we could find because we didn't want to watch our fur baby suffer any longer. My family has had lots of pets in our lifetimes and therefore has had lots of pets put to sleep. This was NOT like other experiences. First of all, the vet couldn't get the needle in her veins so he came in to tell us and just kinda stood there and shrugged like "sorry, we can't get the needle in"... as if we were supposed to have a suggestion on what he should do?! So my mom literally said, "well what are you doing to do then?". My mother was in tears and she just wanted her baby to pass peacefully but the vet did not make it easy. Second of all, every time we've had a pet euthanized, we've gotten to hold them or be with them as they give the drug (not just the sedation). We asked to be with her but they wouldn't let us. He just said he'll bring her back in when she's gone for us to see. We got to see her while he was sedating her for the procedure but we wanted to be with her the whole time. Lastly, when we were saying goodbye after she was sedated before she took her final breaths, the vet left the room for us to have some privacy but then came back a minute later, didn't even knock or ask if we were ready, and just said "ok i'll take the cat now". We were not ready at the time and were in the middle of saying goodbye!!!! It was all so insensitive toward the situation and my family left feeling pretty horrible about their decision to leave our beloved cats final moments in the hands of this clinic. This is the most amazing vet in have ever visited. I have gone to many vets, have had many pets but this was heaven sent. I live in Vancouver (where a friend made the recommendation) but make the commute out to chilliwack just to see Dr. Chahal. He is an animal lover at heart and it shows with how he handles my dog. I feel completely comfortable leaving my baby in his care. A few months ago, my dog had dislocated her rear left leg. I immediately took her to a vet near my house in Vancouver, and he said I needed emergency surgery and it will cost $1600. I went to another vet, he also said surgery. Then the next morning I drove to see dr Chahal and he examined her and said surgery is the last resort and only considered after all other methods are exhausted. He put her on a treatment where she gets shots every 4 weeks and changed her food to help with her joints. This cost me less than $100 and she is back to running up and down the stairs. There is not enough praise I can give this place. I hope he never retires. When he does, I will stop having pets. read more

The counter staff are forgetful and fail to do follow-ups regarding phoned in orders worth hundreds of dollars. Our pooch needs special canned food which we order by the case. Counter staff take the order, tell us when we can expect it and promise to call when it's ready to pick up. This never happens. We've complained to the staff and the owner but this poor service situation is ongoing. read more

If I could rank less I would. Please do not use this Vet Hospital for anything EVER. We are currently looking at reporting the "attending" vet to the licensing board. In short order our dog was in crisis and when they were contacted that our dog was having a medical emergency and our dog walker needed help they advised him they would page the vet and to bring him in. It took our dog walker about 20-30 minutes from that phone call to drive to their location. When he arrived the vet was not there and apparently had not responded to the page. At this time the staff should have directed our dog walker to go to Langley for emergency help but instead they accepted my dog even though they clearly had no idea what to do and had NO medical knowledge. We both work in medicine and were out of town - we called the vet and asked questions the tech did not have any idea how to answer pointed questions about the state of our dog and said he seemed better - clearly he was not. We had another person call while to talk to them and at that time the tech advised the vet had still not called in. This was over 60 minutes after they supposedly "paged" the VET. At that time we all started to call to see if another vet could get there to look after him. 20 min later with still no vet on site the tech suggested that the dog be transported to another vet. Our dog walker was unsure he could handle another trip but was considering it since our dog was clearly not recieving the care he needed. 5 min after that we were advised by the staff that we should try to make the 2.5 hour drive to get there as it was not looking good. I called our dog walker to advise him we were on our way 2 min later and at that time he had to tell us that our healthy 2.5 year old dog had passed. With still no VET on site. 90 min and there was no vet on site not even a call in. If someone called me at the hospital and advised me they would be bringing a patient in crisis in and I had no physician on site I would direct them to another vet where they had a fighting chance - I would not accept the patient and hope I could deal with it. Because our dog walker was so distraught his boss went out to pick up our dead dog, a 60 minute drive, so he could be brought back to our vet for a post mortem at our request. The Vet was there when she arrived but when asked for chart notes refused to provide them - we all know he had not done them because he was not there so what could he write. Again instead of being upfront they dithered and advised that everything was on the receipt. Repeatedly they denied to send the chart with her and said they would fax our vet as of a week later our vet still does not have the chart notes. In human medicine this is called malpractice. If I could laugh, but I can not because of the tears I would as the receipt says open 7 days a week for your convenience. What a farce of a practice I repeat do not take your dog there. It has taken me almost three months to be able to make these comments. Our precious cat Missy died May 3rd. She was a healthy cat and we took her to the Vet for her annual shots. It was recommended we get her teeth cleaned and the necessary blood work was done. We brought her back to the Vet on April 27th for the teeth cleaning. When we brought her home she was never the same, she would not eat and appeared to be lethargic. We telephoned the vet back on three separate occasions and we were told by the front counter staff our cat would bounce back. On May 3rd as we rushed her back to the vet she died in my arms. We never received a call from the vet afterwards to explain what could have happened. I definitely do not recommend the vet and the counter staff appeared incompetent. I took my cat to this clinic for treatment of a severe infection. We had our cat being cared for by someone while we were out of the country on vacation. They did not know he had an infection so by the time we got home, it was very serious. The vet told me that he may have to amputate his leg. The next day, he calls me and tells me it is OK to pick him up. When I get there, he is semi-unconscious and cannot stand up. When I ask about this, they say not to worry about it and that by the next morning, he will be fine. The next day, he was no better, so I took him back in there. They admitted him for a few days and then said he was fine and could come home. Two days later, the infection was back and they had to anesthetize him again to fix it. The next day, they sent him home to me. Two days later, he is sickly and not eating well. They give him a shot for his anti-biotics and tell me it is OK to take him home. Sure enough, two days later, he is terribly sick again. I take him in there and they tell me he needs a 3rd surgery because the infection is still there. By this time, I am beyond furious about why they keep insisting I take him home. He has been operated on three times in about seven days. After the third surgery, he just kept getting worse and I eventually took him to Sardis where he died. I strongly believe that the poor follow up care at Cheam View caused my cat to die unecessarily. If they had been more careful with him at the start and kept him in the clinic instead of repeatedly sending him home with me when it was obvious that the infection was not managed, he would have lived. I would not recommend anyone to take their pet to Cheam View. read more
