Called the Bluff St. St George UT location to get a price to wire a specific amount via Western Union. Was told it would be $20 if sent today and $11 if sent tomorrow. After driving a half hour, the teller said it would be $160 to send the specific amount. I called corporate, they apologized and said they would do "training" with the employee. In the real world, a good, reputable business doesn't allow the cost of their mistakes to be absorbed by their customers. They suck it up and make it right! read more

I was a client for 6 years, from 2009 until recently. If I had written a review earlier, it would have been glowing. Check City used to cut the rate of interest in half for people who only get paid 1 time per month--for instance, teachers, government workers, social security, elderly and retirees, etc because most who get paid once per month can only pay once per month. I felt this was a very fair way of doing business, by recognizing that not all borrowers are the same and working with everyone individually. Check City used to be my go-to lender when I needed a short-term loan. No more. Starting in May of 2015, Check City discontinued this rate. Another change in policy was that borrowing limits for the aforementioned people (who got paid once per month) were raised. Prior to the change, they were restricted to a lower borrowing limit (as a percentage ratio of amount borrowed to income). Under the new policy, if you get paid once per month (ie: are retired, or on Social Security) you can now borrow a higher percentage of your income, which may seem like an advantage, but the disadvantage is that it's also at a much higher interest rate (double what it previously was). While ultimately people are responsible for their own financial decisions, it seems like this new offering or product essentially encourages those who may be least able to pay to borrow more, and pay a higher rate of interest and consequently get trapped in a cycle of more financial hardship. This is strictly my opinion, but this new practice seems somewhat predatory. As I mentioned, I used to enjoy doing business with Check City. The employees have always been very courteous and helpful and the manager of the St. George Blvd store is exceptionally nice. But I also felt like I was receiving a much better deal than at any of the competitors. And in return for the privilege of borrowing, I honored my contracts and I paid on time, every time. To sum it up: After this new policy change, I no longer feel good about doing business with this company. True...there is an old adage that says if you don't like the terms then don't sign the contract. That said...please learn what you are signing for. I've looked around and there are now better deals out there. After 6 years, I am done with Check City. They have lost a paying customer. read more

Usually with these guys, it's four years, they will go to court to get a judgment! They have served it without "properly" serving the judgment. When you're served this information, it gives you a lot of information to attend the court hearing. A lot of times they make sure that the person signing isn't the right person so that they can start the 8 year in perpetuity process! They must do this within 8 years to collect until the debt including all the interest and outlandish fees accrued are paid if they don't collect in the first eight years, they can do it again. They will do this over a 200$ or 300$ loan! Stupid! I could see them doing this over 5000 but $300 come on! After other fees and interest then they're getting way more than they deserve! Fees and 8 years of interest is now 2000 to 5000 even though the original amount was only 300. Yes, this company over a $300 loan will do this to people who often can't pay these loans back because of the astronomical interest rates. Even if it's proven, that it wasn't served to the right person who originally came in and got the loan because the woman didn't even look at the driver's license compared to the person she was sitting and doing the loan with. I have helped people in this situation with this company. They're by far the worst company in the business. The only day I work for the original American title Loan company who started all of this back in the day. I also had family members open their own stores with some my knowledge and help and only one of them is still doing it because the other ones just couldn't keep doing that to people. Anyways, they're just not a good place go somewhere else a lot of times they will help you or just write it off because really it is a tax write off and they don't lose anything.

They sent a link, but it comes back with an error message, so I can not sign the documents. I had left a phone message, no response. I texted them a couple of times, still, no response after a few hours. Even used their own line chat, nothing. Maybe they only have one person working there, but it is a frustrating company. And yes, they threaten people with "collections" all the time if you are late by a few days. There texts about payment just make me laugh now. I do pay the loans off, but with constant harassment if I am a few days late. I tried to explain I don't get paid biweekly anymore, so my payments don't match when I get paid. So, I just blow off the insulting texts and pay them when I can.

He finally complied after I threatened to withdraw my account and write a letter to the bank president, explaining why. In a different incident, the bank set up unnecessary obstacles to using Zelle. This included repetitive questing of credentials to the point of harassment. I ultimately had to resort to a different method. Aside from these unpleasant experiences, all my other transaction with the bank have been positive.

I reached out to both companies and neither will make it right. I'm out $925 from someone I trusted. I do not recommend.

In our case, a required Utah state tax payment was not made by the deadline, resulting in penalties and a notice of lien from the Utah State Tax Commission. We were not proactively informed of the missed payment and only discovered the issue after independently following up. Although the firm eventually reimbursed the penalties, this occurred only after repeated follow-up and escalation on our part. Throughout the engagement, communication was inconsistent and unclear, and we had to repeatedly request clarification on basic items that should have been proactively managed. We also identified errors in our Wisconsin return, including incorrect location information. While the financial penalty was ultimately addressed, the overall experience reflected significant gaps in process, accuracy, and communication. We will not be using this firm again.
