I booked a wheelchair vehicle 3 days before my post OP appointment at the hospital. Not only did the driver never show up but they never even called me. Needless to say I had to rebook my appointment and I refuse to use this company. They even told me after confirming I had a reservation that they do not make reservations in advance for wheelchair pick ups. I missed two appointments in one day at the same medical facility because the cab drivers from Checker Cab never picked me up for my trips. I called far enough ahead of my appointments to make sure that I would be on time. They have no idea how important these appointments were. Thanks for completely ruining the rest of 2019 for me. I'm not sure how you could have gotten my number with just a first name and last initial when, like you said yourself, you picked up thousands every day. If I would have received a message, I would have returned your phone call. I, without many options, have had to use your service a few more times. I was in a car when they said the drive should be vouchered, but since I had no idea (because it was weeks later and never received any information) the driver said he didn't know what you were talking about and took my money instead. He also said that if anyone called to say that I had no paid. So, once again, I am disappointed. The driver never told me who was calling or any information and just asked if I knew about a voucher, which I did not. I now feel like you employ untrustworthy people. Should you leave an email, where the email goes to you directly, I would be more than happy to resolve this directly. Absolutely awful! Completely incompetent and this is the same Company as Checker Cab, Ztrip, Jacksonville Transportation..don't be fooled they are all one in the same! We made a RESERVATION for a car 4 hours before we needed to be picked up, received a confirmation an hour prior and then at the time to be picked up received a call they had no cars??!! Yes it was a huge concert night that is why we reserved 4 hours in advance of pick up! Completely ignorant, no command or comprehension of the English language from 'customer service'. A total joke! Finally a car showed up 45 minutes late. Driver had no idea where he was going and took us for 'scenic ride' around downtown while the meter ran! Screw job! Driver we got for the way home took us and another couple in another filthy car and again had no idea where he was going and shut the meter off. Shadiest company in town!! read more

WARNING TO ALL MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS- THESE TAXI CAB DRIVERS WILL ROB YOU!!! They are contracted with the local MWR and USO to honor set prices for military members. If you don't pay attention, the driver will pick you up and pretend to not know about these set prices and charge you regular fare. Don't assume that they'll honor this contract. Make sure you have the agreed upon price on the phone BEFORE they send a driver and then ask again about the set price BEFORE you enter their vehicle. This has happened to myself and numerous sailors I've met while TAD at NAS JAX. When I called their dispatch to clarify the situation with their manager, I ended up speaking with someone who was incompetent and unresponsive. Sailors on base have had to put suggestions in the CO suggestion box about the way this company conducts business. Do yourself a favor and go with another option. read more

I rely upon taxicabs, paid by Medicaid to get me to and from my doctor appointments. Checker Cab ALWAYS comes over 2 hours early, and you had better pray for them to take you back home: 1 (They left my wife and I stranded for six hours in the rain after the doctor's office had closed. Finally I called another taxi service and had to pay cash for something that Medicaid should have paid for. ) Service, when they do drive they tend to be rude and drive like stock car racers. Always buckle up and hang on for dear life or be thrown around the back of the taxi: 1 I do hope that their cash fares get better service, but I doubt it. read more

Yelp forces me to give this company at least one star. However, I am actually giving them zero stars or negative stars. They are the worst!! I made a reservation 4 days in advance of Thanksgiving to have my sister picked up from her nursing home and transported to my house for the holiday with family. She excitedly waited in her wheelchair at the front door for 40 minutes, when I found out after phone calls back and forth with Checker Cab that they were not going to be picking her up at all. This is extremely disappointing! She was so looking forward to getting out of the nursing home for a few hours today. This is UNACCEPTABLE business practices. I will never use them again. I called Checker Cab to deliver my elderly mom from 1 point to another(near airport to San Marco). I told them she exhibits some signs if dementia and I knew the approx distance and cost. When they finally got her home, the bill was $72, which is way more than I had calculated. I definitely think these girls deliberately set their GPS to talk the longest route as opposed to the fast route since they charge per mile. They went way out of the way to get her home. I will be uploading Uber on her I-phone b/c that was ridiculous! read more

DO NOT USE THEM!! You won't get a cab. I wish I could give zero stars. Never sent a cab, even after I called a second time. The dispatcher took down the wrong number and told me "oh, I got all but the last number right!"...that's how phone numbers work. You need to get the whole number right. She sent out a second cab, I waited outside for it. It never came. Called back and they said they called me and left a message. There is no message on my phone. I'm late for work and am never using them again. read more

After I brought my car to Port Storage & Delivery Inc. in Jacksonville, their service rep gave me the phone number of taxi driver Errani from Checker Cab. He didn't have a meter in his car but he operated a big tablet and I assumed that this functioned as a meter. When he dropped me off at the River City Mall, roughly 6,5 miles further and a 12 minute drive, he had the audacity to charge me THIRTY dollars, preferably cash of course, telling me that "they should have said that at the place that gave you my number". He offered me a discount of a few dollars but I was stunned that a taxi driver just felt that he could charge this kind of money for such a short drive. Exactly this is the reason why I don't want to drive any other cab than Uber again (who appropriately charged me 8 dollars for a 10 minute drive to the airport later this day). read more

The absolute worse taxi experience I've ever had. The automated system to make the reservation was easy enough and that's the only good thing about this company. The driver showed up 10 minutes late. Ok that's really no big deal, but if you make a reservation you expect to have the drivers show up on time. After arriving the driver then drove around in a complete circle and that hiked the meter up almost $10. When I said something about it he stated that he was only following his GPS. The drive to the airport was horrendous. He wasn't driving with the lights on and when I brought it up he said he was. He was driving with the high beams on the entire way so no lights were on the dash board. He constantly kept braking. Even the police flagged him to move over. And do you think that the money accured during his error would have been taking off the final tab. Nope. I will never use this company again. Zero Stars! Reserved a cab for an early flight, 4:30am reservation. FORTY, 40 minutes late and the cab still wasn't there! I called numerous times and they kept telling me I would "get a text when the car has been dispatched" Resorted to borrowing my moms car who is in the hospital and parking it in long term parking. I now have to figure out how to get the car and keys back to them. Thankfully I had that as a back up because no other cabs were taking calls at this hour of the morning. I called Checker Cab the night before I needed a 5:15am pickup, and confirmed that their drivers had on-base access at NAS JAX. The young lady on the phone said, "yes." The next morning at 5:16am, there was no cab outside my hotel. I called the dispatch number and the man who answered said, "yes, we see your reservation and we're trying to locate a driver who has a pass to get on base, but there aren't any available right now." He said that if it looked like they wouldn't be able to find anybody to pick me up, they would call me back and let me know. There are three things wrong with this: 1) Obviously, they should have had a cab with base access ready and waiting at 5:15am like they said they would. In other words, they should have done what they said they would do. 2) If there was any possibility that there wouldn't be a cab available with on-base access, the young woman who took my initial call should have been up front and told me. 3) When 5:16am rolled around and they were having problems finding a cab for me, THEY should be calling to tell ME, not the other way around. Fortunately, the front desk at my hotel was able to find me transportation in time to make my flight. I still never heard back from Checker Cab... Advice to travelers in Jacksonville, FL: avoid Checker Cab. There are plenty of other taxi companies to choose from. Advice to Checker Cab Executive Leadership: Get your house in order. You're in the service business; make sure your front-line employees know it. read more

Absolutely the WORST when it comes to service. Reservation made well in advance to have our mother with us on Christmas Day who is wheelchair bound and has the mind of a child . NO service arrived. A dispatcher called AFTER the appointed time to let us know oh, opps, no driver available. Very hard when that OPPS is your mother on Christmas Day. And still have yet to be able to speak to the person in charge - because he's enjoying his Christmas. DO NOT USE this company ever! I called the night before and scheduled a taxi for 0700 in the morning. At 0710 dispatch promised he was 5 minutes away. At 0720, just 10 more minutes. At 0730 he was going to call. At 0750 I had still heard nothing so I called and said forget it and had a family member drive me to the airport. Bad enough the taxi never showed but the lying about where he was made a bad situation much worse. I will never use this company again. read more

If you want to ensure that you miss your appointment this is the taxi service to use! This company has been responsible for my DISABLED ELDERLY mother missing FOUR medical appointments! We contacted the company multiple times on day that this occurred and were told "they are on the way" yet each and every time at least 30 minutes AFTER her scheduled appointments (which was 90 minutes AFTER her scheduled pickup time) they still had not arrived. We had no choice but to use this service and when I called today to speak with a supervisor about it - I was told they simply do not care. If there was a rating less then one star this would be the company to give it to. They simply have no customer service skills and obviously do not care about their customers or their business - this is a business that should be out of business! read more

I'd like to echo all the other reviewers and say " worst cab company ever!" We called at 10:39 and gave our address. The driver called after twenty minutes and asked why we weren't at the airport? The address was 2 miles from the airport! The driver spoke minimal English and drove by us twice-apparently lost! When we got in finally after 45 minutes he had no idea where our destination was? The port authority where cruises leave from! The number one destination of Jacksonville travelers, second only to the airport! Better training and better customer service is a must if you want to compete with Uber and Lyft which unfortunately do not drop off at the cruise port. read more

My husband and I took a cab from Jax Port to Hampton Inn Jacksonville Airport and were charged 30.00 after being quoted a price of $22.00 Also the cab driver had the gall to charge us for parking saying he did not have any change. What!!!!! The cab was dirty inside and the driver complained the whole way about customers not taking his cab from a hotel to Jax Port and back with him along with how much money he lost because of it. Talk about unprofessional. Seriously we will never never ride with Checker Cab again. Please be aware that there are other very fair and clean cab drivers out there not this one. P.S. Let me start by noting that the cab driver was very nice. Apart from this, I was disappointed in this cab service. I had contacted a dispatcher for my brother who is hard of hearing and needed a cab home. Since I was not with him, I gave her the pick up and drop off addresses to make it easy for the driver, since my brother has a difficult time communicating. I also gave them my phone number in case they couldn't find him. I instructed my brother to stand outside the house until they got there. The response I got to this minimal request to call me instead of him if necessary was unacceptable. Because he is hard of hearing, he would have been unable to speak on the phone to a cab driver. The dispatcher was extremely rude to me and annoyed that she had to accommodate anything out of the normal routine. This experience has opened my eyes to what he has to deal with on a daily basis.
