My friend and I were craving burgers and of course seeing cheeseburger cheeseburger we thought that we were going to get something great. However, the burger lacked flavor and juice. It was extremely dry for the amount of beef that was on it. We both added cheese, bacon, and avocado but we could barely taste the extras because it was too much meat. It was like eating meat loaf with bread. Dry ass meatloaf with bread. The French fries were perfectly salted and the prices are pretty reasonable. Amongst all of the unappetizing food selections at JFK terminal 5, this looked the most decent. Ordering process was nice - you could use a touch screen to select your food, toppings and condiments. Meh. I ordered a burger here on my last trip through JFK. I had high hopes for this but it was pretty bland tasting beef. I also got the half and half French fries and onion rings. The rings were really tasty but the fries were soggy and sub par. The swishy tablet ordering system was not a good use of the technology as most of the customers were first timers and everyone needed a tutorial. So they still needed the same number of cashiers who now stood on the same side of the counter and tapped the screen for you. I honestly was not expecting much as it was an airport fast food joint - but even with such low expectations, Cheeburger Cheeburger managed to disappoint me. I got one of their cheeseburgers (and added bacon) and it was so flavorless and dry that it was hard to eat. For $9 I expected something with at least a little bit of flavor, but there this burger was like eating dried leather. Couldn't taste the cheese, the amount of bacon was pitiful, and the bun was soggy and equally underwhelming. The one saving grace is that their iPad ordering system is cool. Wow. It's almost unbelievable how awful this experience was. First, I watched my order sit on the counter for over five minutes, then, when the service guy FINALLY made it over to retrieve my food (he was in the back or something), he spilled my onion rings. Then came the crowning achievement: the burger itself was completely cold but also burnt to a crisp, and the cheese that I added turned out to be a handful of shredded cheese that wasn't heated. There were NO other toppings added. Cold cheese, burnt but chilled burger and a bun. No lettuce/tomato/onion (which might have been my bad, since the whole system is automated, but I didn't see any topping section other than what was considered "premium" like bacon for example). You go to the restaurant you want and place your order and get your food. Then you get in line with all the restaurants to pay the few cashiers they have. Food Drink - I ordered pop. One pop machine, one of those too many choice machines by Pepsi. One machine for 5 to 7 restaurants, sorry I did not count them all. Dinner - $15 for cheeseburger, fries and a medium pop. I get that is an airport but for that price it should be served on a plate with a smile. Fries were fine, nothing special. But lukewarm by the time it took to find a spot to sit. The bun on the burger was smashed in typical fast food fashion. The burger had some good thickness, which looked promising. Burger was a dry puck, literally the size of a hockey puck. The toppings did not even help to save the burger. Service - There is none. You order from a kiosk, which does not match the menu board above. My daughter wanted an Oreo shake but the combos only have the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry shakes. All the shakes have the same price. The one person actually working behind the counter asked in broken English which shake she wanted. I asked about our drinks when she handed our food and all she could communicate was that the pop machine was over there, out sight from where we were. One bag had three burgers and two fries in it. So we had to get in line to get our cups, self-service and pour our own drinks. One of us could have been doing that while waiting for the food. Then you get inline again to pay for the food. Ughh. We had ordered three sandwiches. All wrapped same way without labels. So I had to open each sandwich. My daughter and I both ordered cheeseburgers. If you are looking to feast before your flight, this is the place. I had the serious burger, which was seriously big. The unfortunate thing here is that the serious burger looked the exact same size as the classic burger. My advice here is just stick with the classic. I like that you can choose your own condiments and enter them into a touch screen. This ensures that no one messes up your order if you are one of those difficult patrons. Coming from SF, one of the biggest perks here is that you can add guac for no additional charge. If you love avocados, and are from SF, you know that guac usually runs you about an additional $1 on your burger. The outside was heated up a little bit, but it was cooled down again by my frozen and red burger. This was really gross to think about.
