I've been paranoid about the pandemic, so we haven't gone out much, but we took the chance to try D&B's and I'm SO glad we did. It was quiet when we went by, and Bella was so gracious about taking our order and listening to what we were looking for. She understood that we definitely wanted lots of crust, and we agreed to come back the next day on our way to L.A. to pick up the cobbler. I asked that she make sure it was well-packed, since we were going to be on the freeways for a while, and she agreed to do so. We were running a little late the next day, and tried to call but the line stayed busy, but the cobbler was piping hot when we arrived. The tray was well sealed, so I had no worries about it traveling well, and we had no leakages. By the time we got to our destination (you know those freeways!), the cobbler had been out for about two hours, but it was still warm, so of course, we couldn't resist having that instead of lunch, lol. Yum, yum, nice warm cobbler with tasty crust, lots of peach slices with texture (not those mushy ones from canned peaches), and lovely spices. I tend to separate into pretty small servings, so I divided it up into more than 25 portions, and we've frozen the lion's share of that. We've heated the frozen portions and put vanilla ice cream on them...and let's just say we're going to have to start exercising a lot more, lol. I'm delighted to have tried D&B BBQ and Catering, and there are a lot of nice little shops in the Sol Plaza Boutique mall where they are located. We'll definitely be back!

Went to the Global Grill Festival in Northridge and had the pleasure of tasting the fine barbecued…read moremeats put out by a talented group called The Gauchos. When you see a long line and a tall pillar of smoke rising from a tent flanked by Argentine flags, you know where you have to go. And since this was a BBQ Festival, and nearly every vendor was serving some form of slow-roasted meats, the fact that The Gauchos had such a crowd speaks volumes about the quality of their food. Florencia was running the order station, chatting and smiling while keeping things moving and explaining what was what. I got the sense she's the chief of the operation, and she seemed to lead with both heart and brains, as the team was well-coordinated and moving quickly while also having a good time. As I waited for my sampler platter, I watched the asadores tending to the meats -- some on a horizontal grill, others stretched onto the traditional Asador a la Cruz, the metal cross that holds meat upright next to the flame. The aroma of the various cuts mingled with the smoke from the coals, making the relatively short wait time seem like purgatory, though a heavenly one at that. When finally delivered, my sampler platter featured several impressive cuts, starting with a few slices of beef, perfectly pink and lightly seasoned with just salt and smoke, letting the hearty flavor of the premium meat take center stage. Also on board was a rich sampling of Pork Belly, its fat properly rendered to flavor the meat without being unctuous; the accompanying chip of skin was crispy and very tasty. A well-roasted pork rib was charred on the outside, soft on the inside, and infused with lots of smoky goodness, while the flavor of the Argentine chorizo was both mild and distinctive, playing nicely with the herbaceous chimichurri sauce. This was a very satisfying selection of meats, and I can easily see myself hiring these folks to cater a party in the near future. However, if you aren't hosting an event anytime soon, do yourself a favor: follow The Gauchos on social and find out where they'll be pitching their tent next -- you'll definitely walk away a happy camper.

Loved that the cups for the birria ramen were a bit smaller so you could have some of everything. - They bring absolutely everything including roasted jalapenos, rice, beans, multiple salsas, cucumbers, cilantro, onions AND they brought everything else like the cups, plates, utensils and napkins. - They stay for 3 hours of serving (unlike the typical 2 hours most offer) - They leave everything behind for you to continue to enjoy. and I mean EVERYTHING. They even left us unopened bags of tortillas and the utensils. The three women who came were so nice and efficient.
