Went to the Global Grill Festival in Northridge and had the pleasure of tasting the fine barbecued meats put out by a talented group called The Gauchos. When you see a long line and a tall pillar of smoke rising from a tent flanked by Argentine flags, you know where you have to go. And since this was a BBQ Festival, and nearly every vendor was serving some form of slow-roasted meats, the fact that The Gauchos had such a crowd speaks volumes about the quality of their food. Florencia was running the order station, chatting and smiling while keeping things moving and explaining what was what. I got the sense she's the chief of the operation, and she seemed to lead with both heart and brains, as the team was well-coordinated and moving quickly while also having a good time. As I waited for my sampler platter, I watched the asadores tending to the meats -- some on a horizontal grill, others stretched onto the traditional Asador a la Cruz, the metal cross that holds meat upright next to the flame. The aroma of the various cuts mingled with the smoke from the coals, making the relatively short wait time seem like purgatory, though a heavenly one at that. When finally delivered, my sampler platter featured several impressive cuts, starting with a few slices of beef, perfectly pink and lightly seasoned with just salt and smoke, letting the hearty flavor of the premium meat take center stage. Also on board was a rich sampling of Pork Belly, its fat properly rendered to flavor the meat without being unctuous; the accompanying chip of skin was crispy and very tasty. A well-roasted pork rib was charred on the outside, soft on the inside, and infused with lots of smoky goodness, while the flavor of the Argentine chorizo was both mild and distinctive, playing nicely with the herbaceous chimichurri sauce. This was a very satisfying selection of meats, and I can easily see myself hiring these folks to cater a party in the near future. However, if you aren't hosting an event anytime soon, do yourself a favor: follow The Gauchos on social and find out where they'll be pitching their tent next -- you'll definitely walk away a happy camper. read more

We hired the Gauchos Catering for our wedding reception on 02/26/2022 our wedding was actually on 02/22/2022 but we decided to have the reception on the Saturday of. Calling to set up everything it was quick and easy and we had it booked two months in advanced. It was the best decision I'd made with a catering company. I love to support the family owned business and they didn't disappoint. The food was amazing, the most authentic Argentinean style BBQ cooked by an authentic Gaucho. What more can you ask for? It was perfect. My family and guest can't stop talking about the delicious dinner we had. They were all amazed, and for some it was their first time. I know I'm going to see the Gaucho Catering more often in my life now, since all of our family and friends want to book them for catering. The beef was delicious, juicy, medium rare just the way we love it. The beef rib was flavorful and seasoned the was they're supposed to with just salt 'cause that's the traditional way. Pork ribs so meaty and juicy! Chicken was grilled to perfection. The pork belly was one of the best tasting cooked next to an open fire just like all the cuts of meat. Oh and I can't forget the chorizo! One of my favorite so far. Theirs is perfectly made with just the right amount of seasonings and cooked to a crispy and juicy link. Mmm those were the first to go after the catering company left. Don't worry they leave the rest of the food for you in sheet pan and covered with aluminum foil. I can't stop thinking about the food!! Lol I even had some to take to work the next day. We added the rice and mashed potatoes to the order as well. The sides they provided was two type of salad, grilled veggies, and bread. They will forever be apart of our events in the future. I knew they were going to arrived a little late 'cause of the accident on the freeway which was out of their control, but they made up for it with the amazing food and service! Which they got set up and going pretty quick. They even stayed longer than expected to make sure we are taken cared of. All in all, I have no bad things to say about this catering family business. Went to a wedding catered by The Gauchos in March. The food was excellent and plentiful, the salads delicious. They were helpful and very organized. It's been 3 weeks since the wedding and my husband and I are still getting calls from our guests complimenting us on the food. The meat they prepared was fantastic!! I loved their meat selection. Typical Argentine cuts prepared to perfection! They had sausage sandwiches "choripan" and empanadas ready for hungry guests as they arrived. We even had about 15 vegetarians and they had provided grilled veggies for them on a separate grill as to not upset the strict vegetarians. Even the pork based meats were prepared separately as well, for our Kosher/Halal guests. I cannot say enough about this caterer. We loved them. They took care of the dining experience that was second to none. Preparing the meat in typical Argentine "Estaca" style was a total treat for our guests. ALL my family from Argentina was totally impressed and agreed that it was delicious...RIQUISIMO! They even allowed our guests to take pics as if they were grilling. It was great. It felt like we had family cooking! The best part was that the guests could follow their noses to the reception! The wonderful smell of Argentine asado filled the air. The Gauchos catering delivered excellent services at my daughter's wedding party of 160 people at our large backyard. The team showed up on time several hours prior to event as scheduled. The choripanes and cocktail size empanadas were great appetizers. The buffet line went fast. The salads were very good. The different kind of meats were grilled to the guests preference and were great! All excellent in spite of Juan, the business owner, not being able to make it to our event. One of the chef parrilleros was nice enough to help us lit several heaters, that we were having trouble with.
