Steve and I want to thank Scott Tessler and his entire team from Silver Spoons for making Sunday's Open House to Meet the Baby [our new grandchild] a truly special occasion for us, and one where we felt as if we did not have to lift a finger! Silver Spoons made everything happen, put the numerous gorgeous bouquets that people brought away in the perfect vases, which Scott or his team somehow found on their own without bothering me. They made everything look delicious despite the unbelievable heat, and then, on top of everything else - everything WAS delicious and delightful. The food was fantastic. And Scott Tessler and his team all talked to our guests in such a nice way. It was fun to have them there. We have used Silver Spoons intermittently over the years - for our daughter's wedding in Malibu in 2015, and now again, to introduce her baby to our friends and family. I'm beginning to think we should do this more often - the results from Scott and Silver Spoons are outstanding. After our event was over, exhausted, we came back to our kitchen, and discovered scads of perfectly wrapped leftovers - Steve and I simultaneously went hunting for that incredible mustard - oh, no, did they leave us some? Yes! You left us a significant amount, nicely wrapped up. And you cleaned up the kitchen beautifully! Even mopped! Everything was left in perfect order. I've been enjoying all the leftovers now for a few days. We have already given Silver Spoons' contact information to one guest at the party, who was very impressed with its work. Many of our guests were already familiar with Silver Spoons from their experiences at University Synagogue (now part of Wilshire Boulevard Temple). The food, the presentation, interaction with guests, following of dietary/allergy restrictions - all perfect. We had magnificent vegetables for the vegans, gluten-free dishes of all kinds that were superb, regular dishes that were wonderful - the food was great. And the service is exceptional. From beginning to end, exceptional service and product! I'm from out of town and needed to plan an after funural gathering with food and had no idea where to start! Scott responded within a few hours and was available to talk it through, suggest ideas and accommodate any and all guidelines we provided. He was quick in his responses and quote and even late night questions all while we had less than 2 days to plan and execute! On the day of the team was early and set up a beautiful spread. They were very friendly, kind, professional and caring. The food was delicious! They walked around to make sure everyone had everything they needed and even provided full service on putting together the perfect bagel bite with all the toppings. From start to finish, Silver Spoons was simply the best. We hired them for our daughter's bat mitzvah at the recommendation of a friend who'd booked them for her daughter's bat mitzvah 30 years ago. Talk about business longevity! My family and I had a blast choosing from the extensive menu, all allergies were accommodated, the presentation was gorgeous, and EVERYTHING was delicious. Compared to other caterers we called, Silver Springs was by far the most affordable and responsive. Not only did Scott stay for the entire event, but he greeted people at each table and made sure they were happy with the food. How often do you see an owner do that these days? We had Scott do our bris and the food was excellent and all his staff was extremely friendly. A lot of time catering food is mediocre in bulk, but legitimately all his different brunch foods were as good as it gets and many guests complimented how much they liked it. April 13, 2026 UPDATE: This is the second time we've worked with Chef Scott of Silver Spoons Catering, and the second time he's earned a glowing review. Spoiler alert: the man is the consummate professional. The level of detail this guy focuses on is insane. The floral decorations on the bar top and the hors d'oeuvre platters come to mind. The whole experience was elevated because of the catering - the food, drinks, service, and presentation created a legit classy atmosphere. I felt like we were at a Hollywood premier reception - very fancy. I almost forgot to talk about the food itself lol! The reason we chose Scott in the first place was because we loved his dishes. We were impressed with the tasting menu meeting and selected our menu. When the day came...everything was so delicious! Here's the real proof. As hosts, we rarely get to eat much of the food at the event itself. We are too busy entertaining and talking with visiting family. THANK GOD they send the leftovers home with us! About 10 days ago I requested a quote for a celebration of life reception. Scott immediately responded with a detailed breakdown of my options. His communication was stellar, he accommodated all of my requests, customized my menu, and engaged me along the way. I would give 10 stars if I could! Truly the best catering experience we have ever had. Communication was prompt and efficient, we were able to customize and do add-ons as needed, and the servers and staff were timely, professionally, and extremely helpful. After the party, they assisted with cleaning the space we had rented, which touched us deeply. Silver Spoons went above and beyond in every single respect and we are incredibly grateful to have had them for our son's birthday party (30 adults and 20 kids). Believe all the reviews you see. 5 stars for a reason. The food is phenomenal and was the reason the party was a success! We began with the Mediterranean cheese & pesto torta, which consisted of whipped cream cheese layered with our pesto filling and offered with crackers and sliced baguette pieces as well as red grapes and strawberries on the side. The Santa Fe salad provided a nice healthy salad option with assorted baby greens, radicchio, avocado, Mandarin orange sections (which both our kids were obsessed with), and tangerine vinaigrette dressing and sliced almonds. The poached salmon had a creamy dill sauce served on the side and this was by far the hit of the day. Kids and adults loved it--the texture was perfect and not overly cooked (which was our biggest fear). Off the "kids' menu" (which was still a major hit with all the adults) we elected to go with cheese quesadillas (guacamole and salsa on the sides), mini hamburgers, and fried rice (vegetarian). Absolutely scrumptious and the serving portion for the hamburgers were perfect for the little ones. Because we didn't realize how big the portions were we also added grilled chicken pesto croissants which were massive. We probably would have been totally fine not ordering these but they were also a favorite so I'm glad we did have them. Easy to grab and eat with given how chaotic things can so many children at a party! As if this wasn't enough food, there was also bakery rolls, bread sticks, and whipped butter as accompaniments. For dessert, there were lemon bars, chocolate chunk brownies, black & white cookies, and chocolate swirl almond cookies, as well as cut fruit (honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, grapes, kiwi). Since we also ordered a half sheet of cake this was definitely too much dessert, but this type of stuff can freeze well so no regrets there! The cake deserves its own paragraph--literally one of the best party cakes I've ever had! Strawbrrry shortcake with buttercream frosting at the owner's recommendation. The cake was moist and perfect. And of course they were willing and able to decorate it with a lovely rainbow to keep in theme with the party. I am not kidding when I say it's worth booking Silver Spoons just for this cake! I think I may have posted this to the wrong place (I put the review on Silver Spoons Catering, Inc. for Los Angeles), but that was the first review, so I want to make sure the right business gets the credit. I think it may be the same place, but here's a copy of the review: We found these caterers on our own after our wedding planner suggested another caterer whose prices were off the charts. These caterers offered a substantially upgraded menu at a substantially lower price. There were plenty of appetizers for everyone (left with lots extra), and they were far more sophisticated in nature than those of others I researched (especially the one our wedding planner suggested). There was a large choice of appetizers to share, including Peking duck and vegan options to please a variety of guests. The main dishes were also well-prepared and generous, certainly more than enough for all of our guests. They even made a great wedding cake, at a fair price, taking another headache out of wedding planning. My only complaint is that they didn't keep records of communications with myself or with our wedding planner, and we had to repeat our requests for which dishes we wanted, and even our address, but in the end everything turned out as well as we might expect. I strongly recommend them (just keep a record of all communication). read more

I had used Scott for my mother's celebration of life. She would have been 97 this month. So we wanted to make big event. We called several caterer but Scott was the one that gave us the most choices and responses promptly. He arrive on time and came with his sous chef Jose. We just used Silver Spoons for my son's Bar Mitzvah last weekend and Scott was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He offered to do a tasting prior to the event so that we would know what menu items to select. The entire dinner buffet was delicious from the appetizers (teriyaki beef / filet skewers, spicy tuna rolls and franks in jackets were the favorites), to the grilled chicken kabobs and salmon with papaya salsa and the dessert (ice cream sundae bar and assorted cookies and bars).
