Chef Jack's was our caterer for our wedding on 11/9, and they were the perfect choice. At our tasting, the team put together an amazing meal filled with numerous appetizers, two main courses, two sides, and a sweet treat. You MUST do the grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, they were a hit! Chicken en croute is also a must for the main dish. We are still dreaming of that meal. Our guests complimented the food all night and for weeks after the wedding. Somehow it was even better than the original tasting. Candy was our lead from Chef Jack's, and she was incredible, coming out often to check on us and the flow of the room overall. They were incredibly accommodating to any and all allergies and dietary restrictions that we had with our guests, and not a single person was unable to be fed, and for two of my guests who had been to weddings where they were unable to eat, this was important to me. Wow wow wow. Went to a tasting for my daughter's wedding. Since they didn't do these back in my day, I didn't know what to expect. Started with A cocktail offering or wine or soda. Moscato was Fruity and bubbly The perfect accompaniment to the dining experience! We started with looking at pictures of salads which were not included in the tasting but we didn't miss it at all. It was a full on dinner plus extra entrée to share. There were two fillets options and I wish I would've gotten the one with the shrimp on top that they call surf and turf. But the glaze was also amazing and so tender with a generous portion. The chicken en cruets was tender and moist as it's wrapped in a pastry. Since I'm not a French person I'm not sure if it should have a sauce on top for a little more flavor but it was very good on its own. The asparagus medley had bacon and onions which were perfectly prepared and delectable. The nest of pasta, very small portion, about two bites was very good but I thought it could've been a bigger portion. The other option was red potatoes consisting of four potatoes very well prepared with a seasoning. So comparing the four potatoes to the small pasta side, it was a no brainer to select the potatoes for the wedding. Horrible experience. Inquired about a tasting for an upcoming wedding. First of all, they only book appointments during the day on week days. They obviously don't care that their clientele probably works. When I inquired about a different time and did mention that we are looking to spend several thousand dollars on catering (our biggest budget line) they responded with "we will remove you from our files". So basically, we don't need your business, take a hike. So disappointed. They were our top choice, but to be dismissed so quickly because we requested a different time? WOW. They obviously think they must be the only caterer in town. read more

Chef Jack's provided delicious food and a unique experience with chef stations for our wedding! Candy ran our event, and she was a pleasure though the whole process. Very prompt with her replies, accommodating with any of our requests, eased any worries and was helpful with anything and everything. Even beyond the food! She truly wanted us to have the perfect day! And come the day you can tell she has done this once or twice (wink). The staff was flowing around the room like a dance, everything looked perfect, she checked in with us to make sure everything looked as we had envisioned and I was also touched she brought us food to make sure we were able to eat since she "knew we wouldn't sit down". How thoughtful! So on to the most important thing... the FOOD! The food at our wedding was even better than at the tasting! Everything was phenomenal and guests are still talking about it! Nothing but great things to say about everyone at Chef Jack's. We got married at the Rotunda in Waukesha, so Chef Jack's was pretty much in charge of a large chunk of the wedding. They are the sole contracted caterer for the Rotunda, which makes it nice because they are super familiar with the venue and I was at ease knowing that they would be able to make everything go smoothly. There are a group of people who all work together to help with the planning, and then you have one person there on the night of the wedding to lead and coordinate and keep silly stressful moments from happening. Our first real encounter with them was at the tasting, and it was a wonderful experience. They really made us feel special, made sure all of our questions were answered, and worked with us to plan exactly what we wanted for our menu. We decided to do a sit-down dinner and chose one of the combination entrees with a steak and a chicken option on the same plate, as it seemed like a pretty good deal and easy to coordinate ahead of time. They also were so easy to work with when planning out the seating for the event, and easily accommodated any special dietary needs. The food was FANTASTIC (my dad is still talking about how moist the chicken was), the service was impeccable, and the whole experience could not have been easier. I would not call myself a bridezilla by any stretch of the imagination, but I am a worrier, and I definitely sent a few emails about small details and questions, all of which were promptly and adequately answered. The best caterer in Milwaukee!! My review is really 4.5 stars. The tastings, food selection, quality, presentation and service are hands down above all of the competition. From the moment you start your menu planning to the grand event you will be amazed by the serving staff, the friendliness of the waiters, their willingness to participate in creating a fun and entertaining atmosphere. Now let's get to the food. We had a European stations menu that featured a carving station, a Mediterranean station, and the highlight of everyone's dining pleasure the macaroni and cheese station. Let's just say I've never seen so many people attack the mac and cheese bar as they did at our reception. They serve cavatappi pasta in martini glasses with your choice of accoutrements and the fanciest Gruyere and aged cheddar cheese toppings. We literally had members of the wedding party as well as guests that had 3 and 4 servings of the mac and cheese alone. Not to overshadow the other amazing foods as well as the passed hors de oeuvres, it was without a doubt some of the best wedding food I've had the pleasure of eating. The only reason this is a 4.5 star review instead of 5 is because the cut wedding cake as well as the top tier were not preserved well and could have been prepared better for transport and freezing. We used Chef Jacks for our October wedding (180 guests) at The Atrium and they absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark! We worked with Candy, who was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. We were able to customize everything from our table linens/napkins, to our appetizers for cocktail hour as well as our buffet package. Every appetizer is to die for, and their dinner entrees speak for themselves.. AMAZING! If there is one thing you do right on your wedding day, make it the food, and make it Chef Jacks. We had our wedding on NYE at the Best Place. Chef Jack's was wonderful. Our guests all complimented the food and the appetizers, no one was left wanting when it came to wine service during dinner, and the staff were all courteous and exemplary. Candy worked with our venue and made sure every detail (appetizer service, toasts, midnight toast) was coordinated and timely executed. Choosing the catering for a wedding can be a trying experience and ultimately, we're happy we went with Chef Jack's. Day-of, they did a phenomenal job. The staff was professional, attentive, and extremely pleasant. Not only did they make sure that my husband and I were fed when we arrived (very late) to our cocktail hour, but they made sure that we got some of our wedding cake, even though we were off taking pictures at the time it was being served. They were great to accommodate any and all dietary requests and restrictions we had and if anything went wrong day-of, we would have had absolutely no idea. They truly are a professional company. However, we did run into a couple of issues throughout the planning process that should serve as a warning for others. First, when we initially met with them, we were told that they could accommodate "most menu items" at our reception hall. Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding our location (no kitchen and it being a historic venue), we had heard this from other vendors since some items simply cannot be accommodated (which is understandable). While every other catering company we met with let us know the detailed things that could not be provided, Chef Jack's did not. They simply told us time and again that they could do "most menu items". Not until after we had sent in our non-refundable deposit and contract were we informed that one of our entrée choices could not be accommodated due to the restrictions imposed by our venue. Needless to say, it didn't go over well. Ultimately, they were able to provide a single entrée for the bride, but the fact that they were not upfront with this information when they have been catering there for many years was problematic. Second, when we tried to schedule a secondary tasting with them about six months from the date of our wedding, they said we could not be accommodated in our timeframe as their schedule was already full. Unsatisfied after the news of our entrée issue, we wanted to make sure that we could schedule another tasting. Living out of town and trying to plan a wedding is stressful. Having to beg your catering vendor to schedule a secondary meeting in a limited timeframe after an entrée debacle is even more stressful. Ultimately, they were able to fit us in, but we were not allowed to try any additional food. However, we did get to meet Candy this time around and she was a bright spot for us. She was willing to do whatever it took to make us happy. She understood the stress that goes into wedding planning (particularly out of town) and how difficult it can be to plan a day that you're going to be happy with forever. She was happy to work through all of our information and give advice and suggestions on things we weren't sure of at the time. In the months after, leading up to the wedding, she was the main point of contact and we enjoyed working with her. In the end, the real testament goes to Candy and the staff who worked so hard to make the day go off without any hiccups. They did a beautiful job and the staff members were so kind, professional, and polite. Went to a wedding at The Atrium that was catered by Chef Jack's. The food was outstanding! Everyone loved it. A few negatives were the appetizers that were circulated by servers with trays that were always empty by the time they got to us. The one sausage stuffed mushroom cap I got aftwr everyone headed to dinner was delicious. At dinner there was only one small buffet with 2 lines going down each side. There should have been 2 buffets as it took 45 minutes for all the tables to be sent to the buffet. Many people were done eating before others had even been to the buffet. The last table was released to the buffet at 7:50 pm. Other than that the food was fantastic. read more

We were the biggest fans Chef Jack's Catering and spoke often of how pleased we were with them catering our first daughters wedding a few years ago. However, we hired them again to cater our second daughter's wedding and were very disappointed. It should be noted that the serving staff and appetizers were excellent but the dinner was far from what we experienced the first time. Here are some specific disappointments: The beef was tough and dry. We noticed many left it on their plate. Many had the same experience for the tilapia. Some asked if indeed it was tilapia. It was bland and some just spit it out. The chicken was soggy and bland. There was no coordination with our florist for the food presentation area. It looked like the food was just thrown on the table. The serving area was an embarrassment. By the time the last guests went through the line, the variety and amount of food was lacking. We have used other caterers who provided as good or better at a third of the price than what we received this time. We are very disappointed because we wanted, expected and paid for the best but feel cheated with the food quality and presentation this time. We did not get what we paid for. They earned and had a great reputation but it looks like they have taken success for granted and gone the way of others who fail to realize success cannot survive on past performance but by delivering excellence today. These guys are The.Absolute.Best!! The day of, we were never worried about the food - they took care of everything. Not only was the food amazing (we had lots of guests comment how delicious it all was) but the service was wonderful. The workers addressed my husband and i by our first names and there was someone designated to take care of us. I wish I remembered her name, but one of the women pushed my chair in for me, got us champagne, and communicated with our venue when I asked to move tables. We got married in August and Chef Jacks was our caterer. We are so incredibly happy with their service and our experience with them that it's difficult to put into words. After the first tasting it was obvious we needed them as our caterer. It was by far the best food we had tried. They were incredibly easy to work with throughout the rest of the planning process and helped me finalize plans with other vendors to make sure the day would run smoothly. The staff blew my husband and I away the day of the wedding. They showed up early, unloaded their truck incredibly quickly, and got to work immediately in the kitchen. The staff was professionally dressed and it was obvious everyone had been trained really well. The food was just as good as we remembered it from our tasting and all of our guests kept raving about it, even those that have gotten married before, and our chef friends. That same night my parents had to clean up the barn since we brought in a lot of our own items, and the staff from Chef Jacks stayed to help them get everything out and load their vehicles. They were amazing!! My parents were so happy they helped them out. Cannot say enough good things about their service or their food.
