Food was a really important aspect for our wedding as we are both "foodies". We had tastings with four different caterers, and Lee John's was by far the best! My husband was sick the day of our tasting, and they kindly packed everything to go for me to take home to him! During the process, they worked with me to follow the timeline I wanted, and everything ran smoothly! The appetizers were actually unreal--we have been getting so many compliments on how good they were (ponzu beef kebabs, ahi tuna, potato stack, scallop). The entrees were also excellent--seriously recommend the chefs persailldes chicken. Communication was occasionally spotty. We had a few different coordinators during the planning process (we also booked them almost a year and a half out). In the end, Carrie was extremely responsive and everything went so smoothly day of! Had a large outdoor wedding with 250 guests with Lee John's as the caterer and have gotten a million compliments that the food was some of the best people had ever had at any wedding and they couldn't believe that was all cooked in a tent. Apps: the spotted cow with a curd and brat is just such a Wisconsin classic, guest enjoyed that novelty. The au gratin potato stacks also were a big hit. We had the perch taco and the lamb chops as our other two apps, also both great. For the brides salad, we added some chèvre and pecans which was a nice touch. Dinner: The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly. The phyllo mashed potatoes are such a fun twist. Presented so beautifully guests almost didn't know it was edible at first but then everyone raved about them! Dessert: all amazing, personally never even saw them at my wedding because guests loved them so much they were gone so fast! Lee Johns does a truly unbelievable job catering large weddings, you will not be disappointed! Have been meaning to review this caterer since 2016, when I chose them to cater my wedding. Better late than never! Do not pass up this very special company. Unbelievable food, thoughtful interactions and generally wonderful people. My fiancé was unable to attend the tasting with me so I brought my father. My mother is handicapped and my father felt guilty that she could not join us. He mentioned it to the server working with us, so they packed up extra servings of everything we tried, and gave us several other "take-home" gifts. As if that was not enough to choose them, I will simply say that we were treated like royalty every step of the way. They even arranged linen and chair rental for me, coordinating with the venue. In terms of food, it was all plated. They take great pride in presentation, and it shows. The food was delicious! I only regret that I didn't get to eat more as I was running around trying to talk to the guests. A lot has changed in the 7 years that have passed since our wedding. We had Lee John's cater our daughters wedding on June 11th. The service was second to none. Starting with the appetizers everything was amazing. The main dinner selection for 200 guests was out of this world. Everything came out of the kitchen piping hot. The plate presentation looked as though we were at a 5 star restaurant. The staff really showed off their professionalism when each table was served. Eight servers came out circled the table plate in arm and served each of our guests at the same time. It was really like a little show. Everyone at the wedding went on and on about how delicious the food was. I thank you with all my heart for making our daughters day perfect. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the passed appetizers. Great selection and they kept coming. I didn't think it could get any better, but it did. Dinner was served with white gloves. The food was served fast and hot. It tasted even better and was plated to perfection. The bread was out of this world! We had a dessert bar rather than a cake, and it was a major hit! Especially the cheesecake lollipops! Lisa went above and beyond. Each item was better than the last. Guests also loved the favors which were a two-pack of chocolate truffles. We had a large wedding and served a duet plate of flat iron steak and Sicilian chicken, everything was done to perfection. We cannot thank everyone at Lee John's enough for the wonderful job for the food at our wedding. It was just wonderful!!!! We had our wedding at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center with approximately 160 guests. We heard nothing but praise and how delicious and beautifully presented the food was. Truly wonderful job!!! We had 4 appetizers, a salad, duet plate and vegetarian option, dessert bar, coffee and tea bar and even late night snacks of chips and guacamole and mini sandwiches. I personally didn't try the desserts, because I have a gluten/soy/dairy allergy, but I heard that the cream cheese stuffed strawberries and the tirimisu were out of this world! I was impressed with the care and diligence put into our meals as well as all the guests meals. I heard the beef tenderloin and Phyllo dough stuffed mashed potatoes were both phenomenal and beautifully presented! My wife and I had the sicilian stuffed chicken breast dish. I was impressed at how Kim and Chef Louis and Lisa were able to tend to our food allergens. We asked for gluten/soy/dairy free on some menu items, and the staff actually brought us out our own tray of appetizers, specially prepared meals and set out almond milk for us at the coffee/tea bar. Pretty awesome! They really went above and beyond! The communication from Kim in setting up everything, from the initial tasting, the the choosing of desserts and arranging for the final headcount, seating charts, etc was top notch! I've been meaning to write this review for some time now, but I cannot thank Sara and everyone at Lee John's catering enough for the outstanding job that they did for our wedding last October. From the linens, to the food, to the impeccable service, everything was more than I could have imagined. From the initial process of reaching out to Lee John's and working with Sara to the day of the wedding, I was treated with nothing but the best, I felt more like a friend than a customer. Sara helped out tremendously when I called in a bit of a panic the day before the wedding, but she ensured me everything would be handled and I shouldn't worry at all. You don't know how much that means to hear the words "don't worry at all" the day before your wedding :) The food is something that everyone continues to talk about, we get told all the time that the food at our wedding was the best they've had, I couldn't agree more. I worked with Lee John's Catering for my recent New Year's Eve wedding and could not be more happy. From start to finish, Kim (our main contact) was so attentive, warm, and helpful. We did a family style dinner and they worked with us to create a menu that would be heart and filling for our winter wedding but that also worked for the tastes of myself (vegetarian) and my husband. Lee John's did an amazing job catering my wedding! The food was amazing and our guests had only wonderful things to say! They offer a very unique and wonderful option of having a duet plate of any combination of entrees and tons of hors d'oeuvres to choose from. They also cook all their food on site. Their waitstaff was very professional and flexible on the wedding day in helping with my dessert table. They were reasonably priced compared to most and included linens and other perks without charge since we were first to book that date. My only criticism is towards the event coordinator we worked with. She was not very good at returning emails/phone calls, and did not accurately have some plans documented. I was told to make a schedule of times when I wanted serving and other details to occur, and this was clearly not followed. I do not think this is the fault of the event staff because it did run very smoothly on the day of the wedding, but I just wished I didn't waste my time making an elaborate schedule. Not sure who ran the show the day of the wedding, but it was not in connection with what I arranged with the original coordinator. The food made this a 5 star rating which I think is most important in a wedding caterer. The preparation and coordination prior to the wedding could use some improvement, but the staff the day of made up for it! Lee John's did our catering for our wedding and it was AMAZING!! Our guests were coming up to my husband and I raving about how good the food was! We had around 300 guests fed buffet style and they were efficient! I was so excited for our tasting with Lee John's in Milwaukee after reading such wonderful reviews about their food. We scheduled a tasting a month out, and received an e-mail confirming our date that we forwarded onto our parents. Everyone had taken off work, and we received a call 2 days prior that we missed our appointment. They had e-mailed us the wrong date. Which mistakes happen, but we were moving out of state the following week and they said they could do nothing to fit us in, despite the fact that the date was their error. However great their food is, the customer service was not impressive. We will be going with another catering company that we can trust. I hope others have a better experience. read more
