I love that no matter whatever I want to make, Patti still encourages me, and seems truly delighted in my meager accomplishments. She is a true teacher, taking time to explain details again and again. She willingly shares details and knowledge from her lifetime of sewing, down to what kind of pin to use, to where to find the least expensive magnetic pincushion. Who knew? I've even learned how to make my own patterns! The atmosphere is always calm and focused, and I find it a welcome respite from my busy day to day life. Sewing has become a meditative practice for me now, which I look forward to every week. Patti is able to juggle every skill level in class, whether someone is just learning the bare bones basics, to the much more advanced. She's pretty well connected in the sewing world too, and hosts really interesting guest workshops. The studio is small and very tidy, with easy parking just outside the door. Classes are currently on a month to month basis, which is nice because it's not a huge commitment. I've seen students come for just a month, to get help on a specific project. Yep, she can do that too. And for the record, I've seen 2 men in class, everyone is welcome, West Side Sewing Studio is my little weekly getaway. I come home relaxed and focused, and I get to make cute stuff!

Their space is so well put-together and I felt extremely welcome upon entering. After looking around at all the outstanding artwork and items on display for sale and chatting about what we could do, Alyssa and I began our art project. She has so many different options to choose from, I took advantage of the hypertufa pot project. She did a great job explaining the process to me and showing me how to properly make the pots by making one alongside me. This was no ordinary class, I was delving into a new form of art that I had never tried before and it all seemed so easy with Alyssa's help and willingness to teach. I can't wait to go back to Visual Shift with my friends and see what other projects are in store for us. Alyssa told me about paint nights that she would be teaching in the upcoming future and that is definitely something I would try out and encourage others to attend. We have been with Cadence Academy back when it was known as The Children's Workshop and have been with the Cranston location since 2016. As a single parent, child care - reliable childcare- is a huge component to making things work. Cadence Academy - Cranston is part of my village helping me raise my kids. The staff are extended family who love and support my two kids as such. The classrooms are super clean, bright, fun, really well decorated, safe, and well balanced when it comes to student-teacher ratio. They provide yummy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to the kids (even vegetarian options) included in the cost of tuition. Summer camp is very fun and pre-covid lots of entertainment was provided for the kids such as Kona ice on Fridays, Kid Bus, and friends from the zoo coming to teach the kids about animals. Daycare during covid was initially scary but there is no other place I trust to not only watch my kids while I work, but assist with distance learning than the staff at Cadence. As a response to Cranston's learning model this year, Cadence opened a beautiful classroom allowing for virtual learning. Each classroom has a "pod" system so if one person is exposed to Covid, that pod is closed down as opposed to the whole building. My second grader follows the hybrid schedule which means he goes to in-person school two days a week and three days at cadence. His grades haven't been significantly affected by this schedule and his IEP is supported by the staff. Overall, I would highly welcome those who are searching for quality, professional, friendly, reliable, and overall safe childcare to look into the Cranston location. My kids are 8 and 5 and I plan on having them there until they age out. Best of luck on your search!

Not only are the Director and staff great, the parents and children are also a pleasure. It's always a plus when parent-teacher communication is open and they appreciate and welcome any feedback from the parents. Any time there have been issues during the day with my child, or I have had any concerns, I received updates from the school and was able to call or email the school and would receive a prompt response. In addition, their curriculum from pre-school age up to school-age is phenomenal! For school age, they separate the kids that have homework and it gives the kids time to do their homework so that you don't have to go crazy when you go home! During the year they hold parent nights where the children can hang out and the parents can do their own thing for a few hours, and also invite parents in for celebrations as well! During the summers the program packs it with so many activities from visiting local pools and beaches to going to museums and parks! The Children's Workshop really keeps my mind and heart at ease while I am at work and they're almost always open!

We felt comfortable with the teachers, the administrative staff and parents. Our children had a smooth transition. They were coming from the public school system and we have seen the academic progress since they started at this school. The school has an excellent arts program that provides the children with opportunity of growth and learning. The school offers classes like acting performance, music and art and our children have benefited from those classes and they feel happy and enthusiastic. The small class size makes a difference with each student and we have seen the difference coming from the public school system.
